While the sky was burning red, the creatures of the light or the dark looked at the sky as they all felt a shivering call deep within their churches or altars… believing it was just the winter winds or random things that placated their minds, they ignored it. As time had eroded away their fear of the lambs… or of the shepherd, for they are just myths and legends… stories only told in children's books.
Stories no one believes but one boy, as he nursed the little lamb with red eyes and a deep coat of white, with hints of gold at the tips of her fur, that share the color scarlet with its hooves. But the boy who was nursing the young lamb looked at it with a passion of furry and brought it to his eyes and said:
[one day…. One day you will tell me why my mother and father had to die!]
The lamb, of course, was innocent of understanding, and thus couldn't reply other than rubbing her little nose against the boy's hand. Seeing the sheep act like a normal animal, Lanthios questions or not what he really saw and experienced was real…
[sigh, it's just a dumb... Normal, lamb… what does it know!] said Lanthios as he stormed off somewhere.
Now alone in the room, the baby lamb gave a creepy smile as a red halo shone above her head! As she stretched and yawned, she said:
{finally! That brat is gone! I didn't think he'd ever leave! Oh! Is that me!} screamed the lamb as she looked at herself in the mirror that stretched to the floor.
{I look so cute!} continued the lamb, as she danced around.
5min later
After the lamb finished admiring itself, the lamb asked herself:
{Now where I am I…I know what I am but not where…}
But as the little lamb Quander's her circumstance.
A shepherd stands in his ritual of blood, with many eyes, black and red alike, he sees the chosen lamb. With furry of his servant's demise at the hand of the human… he stood in frustration as he said:
[Did you think this was over… do you really think you've stopped me… stopped us? HEHE! NOTHING WILL STOP THE LORD RETURN! THE ROAD IS READY!]
With a scream so loud, the cultist shepherd priest, slammed his bloody book close as the winds above him twirled with the shadows, cast by the sun! With black lighting and earth quaking echos, a giant demigod of a sheep monster roars, as the veil between worlds breaks like shifting sands! As it rips itself into the martial plain, the sheep monster known as Agelaeia Ahmya! With its arrival, the very sky turned dark as they poured out black rain for miles! Its body is riddled with the souls of heathen priests and sheep that never were.
A giant jet-black sheep with horns the size of towering towers, with a golden bell around its neck that chimed insanity! With a mouth so wide it could swallow entire trees with their hills included! And that beast… that demigod… was heading to the small town of Brighten! The city of the sun!
It never once rained in this city, nor has a darkened cloud shadow ever reached the city gate! The city sits in perpetual sunlight! It has never known the coolness of night or the moon's grace! And the people of this city love it! They love it because it keeps them safe… safe from the creatures that haunt them in the shadow of the moon!
But today... Today it rained for the first time ever over the city! Clouds so dark they made the shadows jealous! While the black water filled their fountains and waterworks! A poison tar of death! A death that swept the city into a panic, while the strong adventures looked to the sky in worry.
As traveling merchants ran from the rain cast, while unknowing weak travers adventures basked in the black rain, thinking it was normal, only to see their bodies melt as they had neither wards nor magic or blessing to protect them from the black acid tar!
As they screamed for cover, for help… they burned in their armor, they begged their healers… they panicked into a city filled with chaos! And then they saw it! But first, they felt it… then they heard it… and those who had weaker minds lost it! As blood escaped their bloody ears and fried brains!
[It's a demigod… and an ancient one at that…] said archimage Andrel to the shock of the city council
[Andrel… will the wards hold…] Asked the captain of the guard Eardwulf Eadyo
[against the black rain yes… but when that thing arrives…I'm afraid not…] replied Andrel disheartened
[what about the people? Has the order been restored?] said Mistress Antheia of finance
[yes… but there is not enough time to… evacuate them all! The nobles are taking up more space than they should….] replied Andrel a little annoyed
[that can't be helped… Andrel! Those 'nobles' are the backbone of our city! They must be the first to leave!] said another member named Wilheard Ceolmund
[Even at the cost of…] replied Andrel and he was interrupted.
[yes! Those low-born just need to wait! Isn't that what the adventures are for? To buy time with their lives?] said Wilheard Ceolmund with a smug smile.
With flaming runes glowing in Andrel eyes, another voice cut to lessen the tension:
[Now. Now… let's calm down for a moment! Their already enough death running rampant today! Andrel… Look, the temple is already hard at work at summoning a demigod of the sun! In the meantime, we will require all the adventurers who are ranked A or above to participate in stalling this 'god' before it reaches the city! Even you have to agree with this at the very least!] replied the oldest member Vesper Turnus
[the adventures aren't going to like this…is the temple really going to sum a demigod? Will they really use what few resources they have left for such a thing?] replied Andrel with doubt
[well... Too bad if they don't like it! It's in their contract to help the city if it's a city-level threat… and I think a raging giant demigod counts as a city-level threat! As for the temple… they still have a few sacrifices left… their altars drowns in sheep blood by the day!] replied Eardwulf Eadyo
[that isn't what I meant by 'resources' and you know it! You know just as well as I do how corrupt the church of the Sun has become! Are there even any virgin's priestess left at their temple?] replied Andrel
[How dare you question the church's integrity! You unbelieve heathen! To even suggest such a thought about our church is heresy! There is always a line for fresh beautiful virgins at the pope's beck and call!] replied the priest hiding a lustful senile smile.
[disgusting…] said Andrel under his breath
[what was that! Yoooou! You!] replied the priest named Nimrod
[enough! This conversation is getting us nowhere! Andrel, I get you don't like the church but right now that doesn't matter! What matters is if they can stop that thing before it destroys the city! Now, can you please tell us about this ancient demi-god… do you know where it came from?] replied Vesper Turnus
[sigh… based on historical records that I could find on this thing… it seems to be from…] replied Andrel before going quiet.
[umm… speak Andrel… why do you hesitate?] replied Vesper Turnus
[sigh, from the shepherd!] replied Andrel with disturbed eyes
[impossible!] yelled Nimrod
However, as the council was deliberating on what course of action to take, an innocent little lamb looked out to a black-stained window as the rain pelleted it, to the forest in the outskirts of the farm swaying in heavy winds and monstrous growls! As she looked deeply into the woods tree line, she saw figures, covered in a black robe with sheep just as dark with red eyes that baa, black tar from their mouths!
Scared, the little lamb backed away from the window as the door to her room slammed open, causing her to lose her red halo as she jumped like a frightened kitten.
[what are you doing!?] screamed Lanthios as the lamb looked at him with a slight tilt of the head, in an act of showing confusion.
[stay away from the windows! That rain isn't normal!] continued Lanthios as he realized he was talking to an animal! Shaking his head, he brought in his pet dog, which had its fur coated in that black water that seemed to have burned off a portion of its fur, causing it to look like the poor animal got infected with the mange virus!
And it wasn't just the dog, for as Lanthios saw and heard the black lighting that was glowing in an outline of red, he started hearing noises of something hard hitting the roof of his home… first, it started slowly… then it grew to a horrifying degree, as banging sounds hit against the windows like hordes!
Terrified, the lamb glanced at the window to see birds of all kinds falling from the sky! Their feathers melted and decayed, looking similar to that of a zombie! And it wasn't just them! For the corpses of the cows and sheep that lay just outside, began to shake as the black water entered their veins!
As the scared boy looked out the window, he remembered that he didn't close the front door! Nor had he checked all the windows! With that thought, Lanthios turned to the lamb and said:
[stay here and look after lucky! I'm going to go check all the doors and windows!]
As Lanthios ran downstairs, while he was but a foot away from the door, he saw a bloody nose that looked like it belonged to a deer! Afraid, but not discouraged, Lanthios pulled out the last gift his father had given him... A small sword that barely qualified as a dagger to a normal man, but it was a gift he would cherish forever, but not having enough time to mentally prepare himself, as the door began to slowly creek open!
Knowing he was no match in a fight, Lanthios gave up on any attempt of a surprise and rushed to the door, slamming it shut just in time! But as the door closed, the deer rammed its horns against it with a loud roar! The pressure of the hit caused Lanthios to fall back as the curtain that covered the tempered glasses around the door fell!
Seeing the curtain fall in slow motion, Lanthios saw one of the most disturbing things in his young life! For what stood in front of him, was a black corpse of a deer with matted fur and bone ribs! With eyes orange and red! And behind it, stood all the sheep that his father had killed! As zombie birds began to peck at the glass window around the house!
Petrified, Lanthios stared unblinking at the deer and other livestock! As the dark clouds ate up the sunlight! All he could see now were disgusting bloody teeth and orange-red eyes that glowed in the shadow of the clouds!
As the second turned to minutes, Lanthios heard a loud furious bark coming from upstairs with the sound of a baby lamb cry! Having no time to think, Lanthios rushed back upstairs to see his dog torn to pieces! It was as if the dog was chopped up by some kind of laser!
Lamb short POV as Lanthios went downstairs
The Little Lamb stared curiously at this 'dog' that lay here barely alive… when suddenly the eyes of the dog turned bloody orange and its fangs grew a nasty temper! As black goo dripped down its mouth, the lamb looked at it in pity as she believed that this 'dog' must be in a lot of pain as its body began to hyperventilate at a ridiculous rate! It wasn't long before it began doing that, that its heart stopped! It died as if it was choking up the air!
As the lamb backed away a little sad that her companion had died, the dog's teeth then suddenly lunged for the lamb's throat!
