Chương 97: A Slime against a Scorpion (Easy mode)
Amidst the chaos, Rimuru Tempest stood, her normally calm and composed demeanor now sharpened with focus.
The situation was alarming, but she had faced worse.
Before her stood Tyrian Callows, the sadistic scorpion Faunus with a crazed smile plastered across his face.
His yellow eyes gleamed with malicious glee as he circled Rimuru, his tail swaying back and forth like a predator ready to strike.
At the same time, a swarm of Grimm surrounded the two, drawn by the powerful aura of the combatants.
But again, she was not easily intimidated.
The slime's azure form shifted slightly, threads of magic energy extending from her body like ethereal tendrils, each one poised to strike.
Tyrian chuckled darkly, his voice dripping with insanity.
"Oh, how delightful! Another toy to break!"
His tail snapped forward, the deadly stinger aimed directly at Rimuru's heart.
The blue-haired girl didn't flinch.
[Great Sage] within her mind immediately began analyzing Tyrian's movements, breaking down his attacks into patterns, studying the flow of his strikes.
[With insufficient data, analysis is partly complete.]
[Target's attack patterns have not been determined yet, but data from previous battles can be supplemented]
With information flooding her mind, Rimuru dodged Tyrian's initial strike with ease, her body twisting gracefully out of the way.
The threads that extended from her body lashed out, wrapping around nearby Grimm and pulling them in.
The girl's ability- [Gluttony]- activated through the threads- something which she had learned to do alongside Adam
- And as the Grimm were ensnared, their bodies were consumed, dissolving into nothingness as they were devoured by Rimuru's abyssal power.
Each Grimm that fell only served to strengthen her, their essence absorbed into her being.
The scorpion Faunus' eyes widened in surprise, but his shock quickly turned into glee.
"Interesting! But how long can you keep up, I wonder?"
Tyrian attacked again, faster this time, his claws slashing through the air while his tail struck from multiple angles.
But Rimuru- with [Great Sage]'s help- countered each move with calculated precision.
Her threads blocked and redirected Tyrian's strikes, all while continuing to devour the surrounding Grimm.
…
And then it hit her
'This is not a fistfight, this is a war'
With that though, a small smile emerged on her face
She decided to take this more seriously, and use her other skills- something she should have done from the very beginning
….
The blue-haired slime raised one hand, channeling her magic into it.
"Let's see how you handle this"
She murmured, her voice calm and steady.
Boom
A crackle of energy filled the air as black lightning began to arc between Rimuru's fingers, gathering into a pulsating sphere of pure destructive force.
With a swift motion, she unleashed black lightning, sending it streaking toward Tyrian.
The Faunus' eyes widened as the black lightning surged toward him.
He tried to dodge, but the lightning was too fast.
It struck him squarely in the chest, sending searing pain through his body.
The force of the impact blasted him backward, and he landed hard on the ground, his muscles spasming from the electric shock.
But Tyrian wasn't down for long. He was one tough Faunus
He pushed himself up, his grin faltering for only a moment before it returned with renewed intensity.
"That… was good! But I'm not done yet!"
He rushed forward again, his movements more erratic, more desperate.
The opposing slime remained calm, her mind racing as [Great Sage] continued to feed her information.
Though that wasn't a full-powered black lighting, the enemy's endurance was still impressive
She extended her threads once again, wrapping them around the Grimm that lunged at her, consuming them with [Gluttony] as she prepared for her next move.
Rimuru raised her other hand, this time summoning black flames that flickered ominously in the air.
The dark fire danced along her fingertips, its heat intense enough to warp the very air around it.
Tyrian hesitated for a fraction of a second, sensing the danger in those flames, but his madness pushed him forward.
"This battle lasted longer than it should, Tyrian."
The slime girl's voice was calm, almost uncaring, as she spoke.
"It's time to end this!"
She unleashed black flames, sending a wave of dark fire roaring toward the opposing Faunus
The flames surged forward like a living entity, their heat so intense that the ground beneath them melted into slag.
Tyrian tried to dodge, but the flames were relentless, surrounding him in a vortex of burning destruction.
Tyrian screamed as the black flames consumed him, his body writhing in agony.
The flames burned hotter than anything he had ever experienced, searing his flesh and scorching his very soul.
His movements grew frantic as he tried to escape, but there was no escape from the inferno that Rimuru had unleashed.
Ceasing his struggle, her opponent tensed his body, seemingly preparing to make one last stand-
Eyes glowing, the Faunus' arms exploded in a purple light
The blue-haired girl tilted her head as she looked at the burning Tyrian whose eyes and and arms were glowing purple
...
She instantly activated [Thought acceleration] after seeing this phenomenon
"His semblance?"
She asked, more to herself than anyone else
[Affirmative]
[Judging by the pattern of individual Tyrian Callows' Aura, his semblance most likely disrupts the Aura of other individuals]
Rimuru scratched her head at [Great Sage]'s reply
"Well… I was prepared to kill him…."
She muttered, feeling that all her mental preparations to burn someone alive to ashes were for naught
"Adam told me never to waste interesting and useful abilities"
Once again, she remembered one of the many conversations she had with Adam
His advice was to never waste opportunities to obtain interesting, useful, or generally weaker abilities with potential
And the Semblance of this Faunus- the ability to disrupt the Aura of others- doesn't seem as useful at first glance since only in Remnant is there Aura present
But… It is an ability to interfere with Aura, a byproduct of the soul
It has a lot of potential
If it could be developed further, maybe direct interference with the soul is not impossible?
Perhaps it could even render the soul-based powers of other beings useless?
….
"Although seeing other people's powers as collections that can be stolen at will is a bit wrong…." The blue-haired girl rubbed her chin in thought "I have to admit that it would indeed be a waste to just kill him"
Rimuru raised her arm as [Thought Acceleration] came to an end, her palm facing the still writhing Faunus who just realized that his Semblance was useless against the flames
"It is better to let Adam make the decision"
Just as she finished speaking, the purplish-black vortex of [Gluttony] came out of her palm
It enveloped Tyrian, who still couldn't react to the damage the Black Flame did to him
The vortex disappeared, with the deranged Faunus safely transported into her [Stomach] without being consumed… yet
"Now it's time for the Relic!"
Rimuru turned around, her previous serious surrounding atmosphere dissipating, replaced by a cheerful ambiance
As for the Grimm around her?
The slime girl all but ignored these 'cute' creatures. Even if they touched her, she would not take any damage
Slimes were best at physical defense!
But of course, she wouldn't even let them get close
Whatever creature dared to get close to her had only one fate
- To be devoured by her threads which contained [Gluttony]!
And so, she started walking towards the center of Atlas Academy with a relaxed stride, to where the Relic of Creation would be located
And now…. She wouldn't fail this time!

Sorry for the short chapter.
But besides the fact the Rimuru curb stomps a mere Tyrian and I couldn't really write much about this fight... There was also another reason.
I was..... too engrossed in reading an interesting Chinese fanfiction that had a concept I had never seen before.
So yeah, I didn't manage to concentrate my attention and write.
