Chương 33: Lu.. Lu?

As the car glided to a stop in front of the elegant hotel, Lucas gently shook Milane's shoulder, attempting to rouse her from her slumber.

"Hey, Milane, we've arrived. Time to wake up," Lucas coaxed, his voice soft and patient.

Having consumed alcohol on an empty stomach, the effects hit Milane with unexpected swiftness.The effects of the alcohol were now making themselves known, leaving her feeling pleasantly tipsy yet undeniably drowsy. In an effort to avoid Lucas's persistent nudges, she shifted her position and rolled over.

"Mr. Leedon, would you like me to assist Ms. Milane to her hotel room?" the courteous driver offered, his intention genuine.

Lucas glanced at Milane, her current state of inebriation evident, and then back at the driver. Strangely, the well-intentioned question rubbed him the wrong way. Although he knew the driver only meant to be helpful, the thought of anyone else touching Milane felt uncomfortable to him.
