Chương 25: Dressed To Impress, Armed To Kill

I arrived home, and as soon as I walked through the door, my mom greeted me with a beaming smile.

"Dionis, how was your date?" she asked eagerly.

Seeing her excitement, I didn't want to disappoint her, so I decided to lie a little.

"It went great!"

The two of us sat down on the couch and I begin to explain the date since she was so interested.

After sharing the details of the date and make up a story to make it sound amazing, I retreated to my room, turning off my lights, collapsing onto my bed, and slowly falling asleep.

[Ring] [Ring]

"Who's calling this fucking late?" I muttered to myself, slightly annoyed.

Glancing at my phone, my eyes squinched from the bright screen as I noticed Eva's name displayed. "So it's the lying bitch, what does she want? Meh, fuck her I won't pick up."

The phone eventually stopped ringing, and I closed my eyes, hoping to sleep peacefully. However, just as I was dozing off, it started ringing again.

With a sigh of frustration, I picked up the phone, my irritation evident in my voice.

"What the fuck do you want! Let me sleep, bitch! It's 2AM god damn it" I snapped.

"I'm sorry. I just wanted to clear up the misunderstanding," the voice on the other end replied softly.

I responded dismissively, about to hang up. But just as I was about to end the call, I heard Eva's voice on the other end. "That guy was my ex; he's delusional. He still thinks we're together," she explained.

"..." i stayed quiet

"Dionis, I'm still interested in you. It was just a misunderstanding. Don't be so childish,"

"Sigh, alright I won't be childish, so I'll forget about what happen today," I replied, considering her words. "But keep in mind that tomorrow's game might not go well for me, and if that happens, you won't be able to see me anymore."

"Game? Do you play sports or something? Even if you lose, it won't be the end of the world. Don't stress too much about it," she reassured me.

"Hahahaha, it may not be the end of the world, but it'll be the end of me," I chuckled bitterly.

"No, Dionis, your sports career won't end. Don't worry; it's just one game,"

She sounded like my mom—worried and clueless.

"Pfhahhahahahahaha, yeah, you're right. My 'sport' career won't end, no matter what. I won't let it," I replied with a determined tone.

"That's the spirit!" she cheered me on, cluelessly.

"Well, I'm going to sleep now, Eva. I'm sleepy as hell,"

"Okay, good night, Dionis," she said before hanging up.

I sighed, realizing that tomorrow I would be facing a threat unlike anything my family or friends could imagine.

The next morning, I woke up, momentarily forgetting that today was the day I would be meeting with the most powerful mafia family in Trbovlje, even in all of Zasavje.

"Yo, Dionis, get ready for school! You're gonna be late, dumbass!" my brother shouted from across the house, munching on his breakfast at the kitchen table.

"Alright, calm down bro!" I shouted back, trying to shake off the fog of sleep.

The day before was my sixteenth birthday, and here I was, already facing the wrath of death, completely unaware of it like a fool.

As I sat down for breakfast, I absentmindedly checked my phone and saw a text from Eva wishing me a good morning. I ignored it and noticed another message, this time from Eman.

"Yo, Dionis, me and Darjan successfully skipped school. You ready bro?" the message read.

Confusion washed over me as I replied, "Ready for what?"

"Are you fucking joking? It's the day we meet the head of the Krasniqi family," Eman's response came swiftly.

As I stared at that text, my sandwich slipped from my mouth, hitting the table.

"Fuckkk!! I completely forgot! Oh, my fucking god, I'm a fucking moron. Shit, shit, shit," I panicked internally.

I hastily picked up the sandwich, shoving it into my mouth, and rushed to my parents' room, grabbing my father's suit and quickly putting it on.

"Eman, wear a suit and tell Darjan to wear one too, okay? Oh, and don't forget to bring the guns," I texted Eman, desperate to fix my mistake.

"I don't have a fuckin' suit, man! And where the fuck am I supposed to put two fucking guns?" he replied, angered.

"Figure it out, dumbass," I shot back, frustration seeping into my text.

Clothed in a mismatched baggy, black and red suit, I left my house and pedaled my bicycle to Eman's place. I knocked on the door with urgency, and Darjan greeted me as he opened it.

"Oh, so you're already here. That's good," I said, walking inside.

"I actually stayed over at Eman's house since I was kinda scared thinking about what will happen today," he confessed, his expression serious.

"You can't be serious, right? What a fucking pussy, man," I scoffed, a look of mockery crossing my face.

As I stepped inside Eman's house, I noticed both of them wearing oversized suits that didn't fit them well, just like mine.

"Damn bro, we look goofy as hell," Eman remarked, pointing out the obvious.

"Boss maybe we should dress differently," Darjan suggested.

"No, fuck no! We need to look good in front of him," I insisted.

"But, boss, we don't look good. We look wacky," Darjan argued.

"Fuck it bro" i waved his statement off, turning to Eman i asked, "Oh and Eman where did you put the guns?"

"I put them inside this backpack" Replied Eman, grabbing the backpack and showing it to me.

The backpack looked suspicious, but we didn't have any other choice, so I had to risk it.

"Oh and where's the bitch." I asked Eman before we left the house.

"She's in my room, getting ready,"

"Pia, come here! We're leaving already!" I screamed.

She hurriedly emerged from her room, stumbling in her dress. I couldn't help but marvel at how beautiful she looked with a touch of makeup and a well-fitted dress.

"H-hi, boss. I'm sorry for being so slow," she stammered, clearly nervous.

"It's alright. Did Eman explain to you what you're supposed to do today?"

"Y-yes, I'm supposed to please some old man, right?"

"Yes, and please, don't bite his dick off, okay? Hahaha," I joked, humiliating her.

"Y-y-yes, it won't happen. Don't worry, boss," she replied, her voice trembling, and her gaze fixed on the floor, her face on the verge of tears.

After leaving the house, each of us hopped on our bikes and set off toward the Krasniqi family headquarters.

The stares of disapproving, judgmental older folks followed us along the way.

It was hard to blame them—three teenagers in baggy suits, sneakers, with a black backpack slung over one of our shoulders and a girl perched on another, riding their bicycles in the middle of the morning while everyone else was at work or school. We practically begged for the attention of the police.

Luckily, we arrived at our destination without a problem. I signaled to the boys to follow me, and we stopped near the headquarters, allowing Eman and Darjan to secretly retrieve the guns from the backpack and conceal them within their suits.

"Listen up, boys. From this point onward, we have to be as serious as possible. Not a single word," I instructed, my voice dripping with determination.

"Yes, boss!"

"Yes, Dionis!"

"Oh, and Eman, call me 'boss' during business from now on."

"Sure thing, boss," Eman complied.

"Good. And remember, don't draw your guns unless I explicitly tell you to or there is a threat," I warned, emphasizing the importance of restraint.

They nodded in agreement, and we proceeded to walk. I could sense that the both of them were very nervous, so I confronted them.

"Don't worry boys, nothing will happen. I brought you guys and the guns just for intimidation and respect. You won't be using your guns today," i said trying to calm them down.

"I can't be having nervous people in this kind of business, the bosses will look down on me." I thought to myself, emphasizing the importance of composure in our line of work.

In reality, I was even more nervous than they were. But I subconsciously ignored it...
