"What do you think you are doing, Damon?" Eric asked, encircling the desk I was sitting in. I sighed looking out from the floor to ceiling windows of Stone inc.
"Why the fuck did you just leave like that D! We needed you there." Phray cursed walking into the office.
"Dad could've;-"
":-could've what, huh?" I yelled standing up.
"What could have your worthless father done, Phraser?" I asked more sternly.
"Let's all just calm down." Hayes said putting a hand on Phraser's shoulder, who looked like he was about to explode.
"He is your father too." He yelled pushing against my chest.
"Phraser, stop!" Jace came in between us and held him off.
"Nothing could ever make me acknowledge that pathetic excuse of a man."
"Alright! Settle down children." Rosie said strolling in in her fancy heels and designer everything. Her blonde hair was in a perfect bun, making her look a bit younger for her age. Derrick, who seemed like he has just come from a vacation walked in after her.
"I swear son, you will age very fast with that attitude of yours." She snorted cupping my cheek. I dodged her hand and put a distance between us.
I scoffed. "If it isn't Romeo and Juliete." My look turned to disgust watching Derrick hug Phraser.
"How are you feeling dad?" Phraser asked, his eye brows knitting in worry.
"I'm alright." He said. "Damon, I heard that you cared enough to take charge that's wond:-"
":-save me the whole American dad speech and fucking tell me what game you're playing."
"I swear to God, D!:-" Phray sighed and massaged his temple.
"It's not a game. I think it's time I told you about something." He turned to Eric and the boys.
"May we have the room please, I'd like to talk to my sons." They all nodded in response.
"Good to have you back, sir!" Jace nodded in respect and left.
"First things first, I do not want your brother involved in what I am about to tell you." He looked at me sternly and sat in his mahoganny chair. Rosie went to his side while Phraser sat down on the other side of his office table.
"Ace is at the hotel, resting." Phray sighed looking at the old man.
"As he should, he didn't look too good yesterday." Derrick said with a frown.
"What is he talking about?" I asked Phray.
"Why do you care?" He said.
I opened my mouth to say something but Derrick rudely cut me off.
"It's time I told you about Project Spectral." He brought out a file from under his cabinet and threw it before us.
"What is it about?" Phraser asked eyeing the file.
"And how is Vladimir connected with this supposed project?" I asked pouring myself a whiskey.
"It is something that he has been working on for as long as I can remember." He stood up and fixed his armani suit.
"Over the course of the years, Vlad has been expanding his gang all across Europe with nearly not enough money coming in from any of his winery businesses." He said walking to the liquor cabinet in his grand office.
"Nicknames with your kidnapper." I chuckled and brought the alcohol closer to my lips.
"Are you sure you didn't catch Stockholm syndrome while in captivity Derrick!" Rosie scoffed and occupied his chair.
"Get to the point honey."
"With that in mind, I decided to investigate and get to the source but ofcourse I couldn't actually do it myself."
"You hired a spy." Phraser said with a frown.
"Spies, to be specific which later on proved to be futile as they we're all caught and killed. That was not exactly the plan, bu:-" He sipped his drink.
"You hired meat shields so you can infiltrate yourself." I almost felt even more disgusted with him but I knew Rosie always took the crown at the end of the day.
"Well, not me to be specific but Clara." He used the remote control to slide down the window shields and turned on his secret TV that showed the other side of Stone inc. The shady and dangerous part of the business world I was shoved into at a very young age.
"Clara is a former CIA operative who went rogue after her team was killed in Iraq but I managed to find her and later on, hired her. She is the one who has been giving me information on that bastard." He grabbed the file and gave it to me.
"This is what she managed to find." I opened it and frowned.
"Those are young girls from Africa, Asia, and America being shipped to different continents depending on where the girls are coming from."
"How so?" Phraser asked coming to stand next to me.
"If they are coming from Africa, for example then they'll have to be shipped to some place which is far from home like Australia or some other secluded islands and so forth. The same goes for the others." He explained calmly, way too calmly for a man who is supposed to be opposing the whole thing. I took a quick glance at him and Rosie.
"You seem to know alot of things about this supposed project." I looked at them both and noted their physical response to what I said.
"Like I said, Clara has been keeping me in the loop." He replied in a heart beat. I nodded my head, not buying any of his bullshit.
"Some are not even teenagers yet." Rosie said holding her chest with tears threatning to fall.
"What are they used for?" I looked at Phraser as soon as he asked that stupid question.
"Sex slaves, organ donors, prostitutes. You name it." He shrugged off his blazer and rolled up the sleeves of his shirt.
"This still doesn't explain why you let yourself get kidnapped by him." I gritted my teeth in anger and closed the file.
"Clara stopped sending in information for 48hours and that's when I knew she must be in trouble or worse, killed. I had to make it seem like I was a damsel in distress in order for Ivankov to take me to one of his warehouses in New York."
"You wanted to save her." Phraser said.
"Yes but unfortunately, she was already gone." Derrick sighed and pat Phray on his shoulder.
"So how did you manage to convince Vladimir to let you go?"
"Easy, that man is a money hungry pig who'll do anything to get it. I just proposed a merge between one his soon-to-be bankrupt winery to one of ours and sweep whatever happened in China town under the rug and he fell for it." He chuckled and sipped his alcohol.
Phray's cell phone started ringing. "It's Ace." He and Rosie excused themselves to take it. I made sure they left before looking at Derrick.
"You killed her." I said blantly.
"Don't be ridiculous son." He chuckled and poured himself another drink.
"Cut the bullshit! I know you and your twisted sick mind. You figured that if she lived, she'd crack and snitch so you had to take her out. Now that I think about it, it makes more sense why you wanted to go in."
"That is not true, I onl:-"
"If the shit hit the fan, you would have."
"Yes but shit didn't hit the fan an:-" He gritted his teeth in anger.
"-:it didn't hit the fan because you never let it escalate that far."
"I only care about the family the same way you do and that means I do whatever I have to do to keep us safe even if I'll have to leave bodies along the way." He yelled and slammed the glass against his desk. It shattered to pieces, cutting him in the process. His eyes widened in realisation and looked down at his hands in bewilderment.
"You killed them all."
