In a quiet alley in a territory; a grey-haired man with a hood stood staring at a holographic screen. The alley cast its shadow over his face making it difficult to see who he was. The silhouette of a man appeared on the holographic screen and nothing more. The grey-haired man spoke to the man in the hologram with the utmost respect he could master. It was as if he was talking to a king as a commoner.
"He has succeeded your lordship" the grey-haired man said with a bow. Though the man he spoke to was on a holographic screen, he did not dare lift his head. "Where is he now?" the man asked emotionlessly. If one didn't see his silhouette, one would think he was a woman just because of how he spoke. The grey-haired elder did not hesitate to answer. "He is currently in the canyons of the Quint hunting territory."
"Is it the canyon of Drak?" he asked with a hint of surprise. He hadn't expected such a turn of events. There was once a great warrior called Drak the Battle Beast. He was a crazed fighter who put fear in the heart of even the high-rankers. He was known to have killed a powerful rank 20 Quint beast as a rank 16 Quint. The location where the battle occurred was known as the Canyon of Drak.
He was a talented individual and a legendary figure in his time however he one day disappeared and no one heard of him any longer. Some claimed he was killed by a beast; others claimed he had disappeared because he was too powerful for the world to contain him. Whichever it is, one could never know.
"Yes, your lordship. It is that very Canyon."
"I guess there's no need to delay this anymore. Since he is already there, we must ensure he finds what was left there. You know what to do, don't you?"
"I will get right to it, but your lordship, he is still injured after the battle he had earlier, shouldn't we wait until he fully recovers?" he asked with unease. It was obvious from his expression how much he cared for him. "I believe you are right, but his enemies would not wait for him to recover before trying to kill him. He needs to be steeled to stand back up no matter how bad his situation may be. His skills are also poor hence he needs to find 'that' as quickly as possible. Without a solid foundation, I am afraid he wouldn't be able to make it 'there'"
"One more thing, your Lordship, aren't there others looking for 'that' as well?"
"Only a handful of people know about the existence of 'that' and most of them have given up after failing to find it for a long time." The grey-haired man looked a bit confused. If only a few people knew and had been searching for it for years and never seemed to find it, then; how was he so confident that someone who had just entered that place would find it? The man on the screen seemed to have seen through him, so he followed up.
"Though some knew about its existence, they do not know the full requirement for finding 'it'. Only those like the young man can find it." The grey-haired man seemed to have thought of something and his eyes widened in surprise. He quickly asked, "Does that mean Drak was also…" he didn't need to continue as the man knew perfectly well what he was talking about.
"No. He had his theories and did some experiments; those were the results anyway; we better hurry with the proceedings because 'that' would begin in a few months. He needs to raise his level quickly."
"Then I would get to it right away, your Lordship" the grey-haired man said and bowed. The transmission cut and the man walked off. After taking three steps, the area distorted and he disappeared from view.
In the territory of Gamel, in a castle-like mansion, a woman glared at the three guards before her. Their clothes were soaked and the pressure on them kept mounting by the minute. It was as if they had been subjected to the cruellest torture. Her black eyes had a faint blue glow akin to a ring about them as she peered at the three as if trying to pry into all the secrets buried in the deepest parts of their heart and mind.
"You are all rank two's but you couldn't defeat a single rank two beast; and on top of that, someone robbed you of the beast, killed it and made away with the beast core I asked for yet you are here telling me what exactly?" she coldly asked not demanding an answer from them. They fell silent and lowered their heads in shame. "Do you take me for a fool or do you not put me in your eyes at all?"
"We wouldn't dare." they said quickly to avoid the further wrath of the young miss. "You come here almost perfectly intact, which means you didn't fight whoever that was or even try to chase down whoever stole from you because you would have some burn wounds." She looked down coldly at them and continued, "Oh, you didn't think about that, did you? Yet you tell me he was powerful and you couldn't beat him; how did you measure his strength then?"
"Simply by watching him? Seeing your faces, you do not seem to have encountered a powerful foe before. Do you know what power feels like?" The temperature in the room began to drop at a rapid rate. Frost crawled all over the walls as she asked, "Have you ever suffocated by the mere presence of a foe? Let me show you what that power feels like"
The chill slowly spreading in the room was already too much for them to handle. Their lips were already turning white. Not to mention the pressure which was building up. It made them feel like a mountain was on their chest. Their knees buckled and they dropped to the ground. They knew they were going to be crushed by that tremendous pressure if they just remained there. "Young miss, please forgive us. We promise to bring him here within 24 hours."
"Yes, young miss, we would surely bring him here. Please spare us."
"Please spare us, young miss." they pleaded with all their strength while banging their heads on the floor to show their sincerity. She looked at them coldly and said, "Good, you have 24 hours; if you don't bring him here by then, then don't even bother returning to this place."
"Thank you, young miss." they said and quickly scrambled out of the room. "You dared to rob my beast core??? You wait till I find you. I will turn you into a block of ice and leave you as a sculpture in this mansion."
