Chương 15: The Obnoxious Young Noble 1

Without an attendant leading the way, the progress of the group was quite slow, but they had managed to make some progress. Along the way, Asher had suggested that the others also take a look around the store and picked out what they felt was interesting, volunteering to cover the costs himself.

Chen was pleased, while Luther and the other guard were a bit torn. They knew this was a once-in-a-blue-moon opportunity, but their main task was Asher's security. In the end, Luther had still stayed behind while the other guard had left to pick up something that would be suitable for himself and Luther.

Asher's original plan wasn't to be such a nice guy, but to prevent the guards from knowing exactly what he wanted to get, just in case his father had given them warnings regarding that. But with Luther around, his ploy was not all that useful. So, Asher walked around the store, picking out a few unique and common items till he felt that it was enough to form a shade over his original intentions, after which Asher made his move.

The first floor of the Blue Ivy store focused more on refined weapons, potions, items for daily usage and consumables like talismans and so on. The second floor, however, focused on cultivation manuals and resources, as well as some complex products from the Red maple tree, alongside higher quality weapons and potions. If the first floor was suited for all, the second floor then specialized towards catering for the needs of cultivators in the city.

Asher picked up a few of the cheaper cultivation resources, alongside 3 cultivation manuals to go. But he was a bit shocked when he saw the price of the cultivation manual; about 20-30 silver coins for one. In the Great Dawn kingdom, an average household made about 5 silver coins a month. The ones living in cities had things a bit better, but still didn't make that much -about 7-12 silver coins a month-. A cultivation manual was enough to provide for the family for 2 months. It was no wonder why there were very few magic users in the city. From what he knew, it was only Luther and the other guard that were mages, while the rest were all regular humans.

'Compared to the heavenly planes, cultivating here is a task. Ignoring the steep price of the resources needed along the way, just the cultivation manuals alone were pretty expensive.' Asher thought.

Nonetheless, as the beloved son of the duke, Asher received monthly stipends from the family since his birth. While he wasn't the richest in the city, his net worth was calculated in gold so buying a few books of at most 30 silver coins each, would barely make a dent in his purse.

As Asher was preparing to leave, he caught sight of a certain cultivation manual on display in a less conspicuous area he originally never paid attention to, there was his instincts tugged at him to take notice of the tattered book. From a distance, the book was tattered and worn out. One could even say it was incomplete based on that appearance, but Asher's instincts had alerted him towards it.

While his body was still weak, Asher's soul was extremely powerful and not to be underestimated. The feeling he got towards the book was felt by his soul and as a previous Celestial Emperor, Asher would never make the mistake of ignoring his instincts. The human soul was a large mystery, one that even with his millions of years of existence, Yi Feng had failed to grasp. It had a record of alerting him of dangers and thereby saving his life. At the same time, it also leads him to lucky encounters, and Asher felt like this might be one.

"You guys should wait for me. I will be back shortly."

Walking towards the shelf, Asher grabbed the book and was about to study it properly when a voice sounded by the side.

"I want that book."

Originally, Asher didn't think that the voice was referring to the book in his hands as it looked like something no one would be interested in, so he didn't pay it any heed. Even the store didn't seem to find it valuable based on where it was kept. They had only left it on this floor simply because it was a cultivation manual. Because of this, Asher would have never thought that at the same time he got interested in the book, someone else would too.

"Didn't you hear me, you snotty brat? Leave the book; it's mine." The voice sounded again.

This time around, Asher paid attention to it as he realized that the speaker was referring to him.

Turning around, he spotted a young child, roughly the same age as himself with a fan in hand, glancing at him with irritation and arrogance. Even if his fancy dressing was ignored, just the expression on his face was enough for Asher to know that he was a spoilt brat of some aristocratic family in the city.

"And you are?" Asher blandly asked.

The little boy frowned at Asher's question, but he still replied with a pompous attitude,

"Kean Livermoore, of the Livermoore noble family. A peasant like yourself should know better and bow when you greet me rather than ask questions. But since I'm interested in that book in your hand, I will forgive you if you hand it over."

Asher felt like bursting out into a fit when he saw the child's attitude. While he was a seven-year-old in this world, his mindset was that of an aged million-plus years behemoth of power and authority. It was a fact that no one in the kingdom could be as old as his former self, and even quite possible that no one in this world was that old either.

So, not only did he feel it was beneath himself to argue with a little child, but Asher also felt like he was watching a comedy show as he looked at the kid's attitude before him. Even ignoring his previous life, he was the son of the current ruling family of the province, as well as the heir to the dukedom. His authority alone exceeded the Livermoore family. Heck, Asher had never even heard of that family. In his opinion, they were probably some average noble family that was too small to bother about in the grand scale of things.

Ignoring the kid, Asher made his way towards the trio who were waiting for him at the checking out counter.

"Where do you think you're going?" Kean flourished his arms as the guards behind him dashed and blocked Asher's path.

A frown appeared on the face of the once former Celestial Emperor as he became irritated by the child's actions.

"What's the meaning of this?" Asher coldly asked.

"Hehe. Nothing much. Just leave the book behind, and you can go back to wherever mudhole you came from." Kean replied.

Asher and the trio had changed out of their fancy clothing, so they looked like average people that could be found on the road. It was for this reason that the little Kean felt confident in being able to deal with Asher. Originally, the name 'Livermoore' should have been enough to frighten him, but seeing as how Asher didn't react to it, Kean was pissed and decided to use a more forceful approach.

Asher was beginning to lose his patience with the young boy and was about to make his move at that moment.

While he had yet to begin cultivating, Asher had already begun practising hand-to-hand combat and some martial arts technique from his past life. Though not as powerful as techniques employing True Qi or mana, in the hands of a pro, it could improve one's strength and turn them into a killing machine. With the current progress he had made, Asher could burst out with the strength of a 12 or 15-year-old with it.

While this didn't seem like much, if targeted at critical spots like the throat or the sensitive nether regions, it could help Asher easily dominate the battle.

'If it's a fight he wants, then it's a fight he will get.'

Just as Asher was about to make his move, a voice yelled from another direction, interrupting the confrontation between the two parties.
