Chương 226: Chapter 226: Where's the Knowledge?

After concluding the riddle bet with Katrina, Albert didn't go to the Quidditch match between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. Instead, he headed directly to the Room of Requirement on the eighth floor. He intended to record the 100 riddles and their answers that the Ravenclaw eagle had presented to him, to prevent himself from forgetting them after some time.

As they say, a good memory is better than a bad pen.

This saying from his previous life still held true.

Organizing and recording these 100 riddles and their answers took Albert quite some time. When he put down his pen and stretched lazily, it was already noon.

During every Quidditch match, unless it ended early, a large group of people would usually skip lunch until the match was over.

As for dinner?

Quidditch matches rarely lasted until the evening. How useless would the Seekers be to not catch the Golden Snitch within a few hours?

Matches that lasted a whole day were few and far between.

Albert put away his notebook, rubbed the muscles on his cheeks, and turned his gaze to the old wooden board in the corner of the library with the Ravenclaw eagle on it. He took a deep breath, raised his hand, and lightly tapped the board twice. The eagle opened its beak and posed a riddle:

"You are neither in the past nor the future, yet I can see you now. Where are you?"

"In a mirror," Albert immediately answered.

"Correct," the eagle replied, and a door appeared out of nowhere.

"Success!"

Albert excitedly clenched his fist and raised his wand, walking through the door. He found himself in a huge circular marble chamber, illuminated by burning blue torches, making the surroundings bright.

"Everlasting fire?" Albert observed the torches on the walls. At this moment, he suddenly felt an urge to take one of the torches down and study it.

"Where is the treasure trove of knowledge in Ravenclaw?" Albert muttered.

This was a windowless chamber, very spacious, and indeed lived up to the saying "four bare walls."

There was not much here besides the everlasting fire, and the only thing that caught Albert's attention was the ancient runes carved on the walls. When he entered the room, he had already noticed the ancient runes on the walls.

There was no way around it; besides the everlasting fire, the ancient runes on the walls were the only things that could attract Albert's attention. He walked towards the wall and ran his fingers over the carvings, starting to translate the content of the ancient runes seriously.

The ancient runes shown on the wall were similar to what Professor Brode and Professor Smith had shown him. However, according to Albert's memory, the ancient wizards from a thousand years ago would have used ancient runes, and the English language, which borrowed from Latin, came later and was introduced to Britain.

So... he shouldn't approach the text from a translation perspective. Was its existence merely for recording something?

Or did the ancient runes hide some secrets?

Albert spent a full half-hour reading and transcribing the ancient runes on the wall before he finally finished.

The text on the wall roughly discussed the founding of Hogwarts, similar to the records he had seen in the library.

Initially, Hogwarts was established to protect wizards from persecution.

After all, Muggles feared magic, and they would persecute wizards out of fear of magic. Even worse, a thousand years ago, Britain was in the terrifying Viking Age.

Looking at the location of Hogwarts on a mountain by the lake, with the school's exact location hidden by enchantments, it was evident that the Four Founders had considered the possibility of enemies attacking Hogwarts, hence the numerous defenses within the castle.

Albert didn't forget that the armors and knight statues in Hogwarts castle could be enchanted when necessary. This meant that with an army of hundreds or even thousands of fearless soldiers, together with the castle's terrain and defenses, not even infamous Vikings would be able to breach Hogwarts.

However, this well-known history of Hogwarts wasn't what Albert was seeking; the contents of the Ravenclaw knowledge trove should be more than just this!

Damn it!

At least, leave me some books or other things!

Had someone else already taken everything before him?

Albert glanced at the task board's "Find Ravenclaw's Knowledge Trove" quest, and indeed, it remained incomplete.

Could it be that this isn't Ravenclaw's knowledge trove?

Or is there still some secret hidden within this chamber?

Albert walked around the room again, and apart from the magical runes on the walls, there was truly nothing else.

However, Albert made some new discoveries.

There were pieces that resembled a puzzle. Why call it a puzzle? Because the magical symbols on it were scattered.

Albert felt that it might be a door or something else, but he still couldn't make sense of it, or rather, he couldn't figure it out:

"Overwhelming intelligence and wit are the greatest treasures of humankind."

Then what?

Albert pieced together the scattered magical runes and read it in ancient runes.

He felt that there seemed to be something missing, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

If this was the knowledge trove, then what knowledge was hidden here?

Albert couldn't figure it out at the moment. He was certain it wasn't the ancient runes, as they were the language used in that era. It also couldn't be the history of Hogwarts on the wall. So what was left?

That sentence: "Overwhelming intelligence and wit are the greatest treasures of humankind?"

Or was it the everlasting fire on the wall?

Albert took down one of the everlasting fires from the wall, carefully inspecting it. It looked somewhat like the Olympic flame and had some ancient runes engraved on it, not that different from the protective bracelets Albert had made before.

However, the effect produced by these ancient runes was surprisingly significant.

Albert knew that it might be the power of magical writing.

But was this related to the knowledge trove?

If it was, then... what secret was hidden in the knowledge trove?

Albert felt a headache coming on. He couldn't understand what secret was concealed here.

"Forget it, I'll write this down for now!" Albert put the everlasting fire back. Professor Brode and Professor Smith probably hadn't found the secret within this chamber.

As for a previous wizard who might have discovered the secret and taken whatever was originally placed in this chamber?

The possibility seemed unlikely.
