Chương 34: Battle for Earth's Survival
The Precursors sent two fourth-level monsters to the land to gather more information from Newton. Upon receiving the notification, Hannibal instructed his subordinates to pack up and enter a private bunker.
Upon learning that Newton had a mental connection with the monsters, Hannibal grabbed him by the collar and said in a stern tone, "You damn fool! Later, you will go to the public shelter. The monsters might be coming for you!"
Just as Newton was about to explain, he saw a dozen guns aimed at him. After comparing the combat power of both sides, Newton wisely chose to remain silent.
Storm Crimson and Chernaya Alpha walked into the sea, preparing to battle the two giant beasts. The Unica Raider, loaded with a nuclear bomb, stood on the shore, ready to head to the fissure after the victory of the two mechs. Yancy withdrew from this battle due to his injured arm from intercepting the monster last time.
The monster codenamed Tail Rat swiftly circled around the two mechs. Suddenly, it emerged from the right side of Storm Crimson, and its thick tail heavily struck the mech's waist, causing Storm Crimson to lose balance and fall into the sea.
"Activate the Thunder Formation!"
The leader among the three shouted, and the mech's three arms revealed rapidly spinning blades. They assumed combat stances against the monster, with the mech's arms moving back and forth, leaving several scars on Tail Rat's body as its pale blue blood slowly flowed into the sea.
Just as the three were preparing to use the same tactics again, Tail Rat tightly grabbed the mech's wrist with its forelimbs. The two colossal entities engaged in a struggle. Storm Crimson increased the energy output of its thrusters, flipping its body upside down on Tail Rat's head. Its waist rapidly rotated, utilizing the spinning force to throw Tail Rat ten meters away.
Chernaya Alpha, waiting nearby, swiftly delivered a powerful elbow strike to Tail Rat's neck, forcing it underwater. With its right hand relentlessly striking Tail Rat's face.
Just as Chernaya Alpha raised both hands high, preparing to deliver a powerful blow, Tail Rat forcefully headbutted the mech's chest, successfully countering its move. Inside the Unica Raider, Herc Hansen witnessed all of this and shouted loudly through the communication device, "Commander, Storm and Alpha are in trouble! Raider requests permission to engage!"
"Stay in your position, no engagement allowed. I need you to carry the nuclear bomb! Understood!"
Pentecost's icy voice calmed down Herc and his son. Storm and Alpha gradually closed in on Tail Rat, preparing to attack. Just as Storm was ready to strike, Tail Rat suddenly raised its tail high, revealing a sharp horn-like object at the tip, which fiercely pierced Storm Crimson's chest.
"We can't just watch them get killed!"
Chuck Hansen stared at his father with a determined tone. After hesitating for a second, Herc chose his comrades over the mission and shouted through the communication device, "We can't worry about that now. Center, we're engaging right now!"
Pentecost, resting his hands on the table, glanced at Yancy's arm in a cast and sighed softly. Beside him, Mako Mori looked at him with pleading eyes. Her test results showed that she was fully capable of piloting a mech. Just then, news of Storm's demise came through the communication channel.
Seeing the red figure falling into the sea, both occupants of Chernaya Alpha felt a pang in their hearts. Tail Rat's move was too swift, and they hadn't reacted in time before Storm Crimson met its end.
"Let's take down this guy!"
Sasha growled and increased the power output of Alpha, raising her right arm high,
ready to teach Tail Rat a lesson. Faced with the massive fist of Alpha, Tail Rat opened its mouth, revealing the poison sac inside, and sprayed corrosive liquid towards Alpha's chest.
"Report to headquarters, Alpha's armor is corroded. Requesting support!"
Sasha shouted loudly into the communicator, and Herc and his son accelerated their pace towards Alpha, which was a hundred meters away. Tail Rat pounced on Alpha, opening its mouth and firmly biting down on Alpha's right arm. At the same time, another giant beast emerged from the sea behind Alpha and tore off Alpha's head from behind.
Herc and his son looked angry as they watched the dismembered mech. Herc grabbed Tail Rat's head with his left hand and delivered a powerful blow with his right hand. As a Mark V Jaeger, the Striker quickly battered Tail Rat, sending it sprawling with its teeth scattered on the ground. Just as Herc and his son were about to use their ultimate move to end their opponent's life...
The Leatherback Turtle, standing nearby, opened the armor on its head and emitted disruptive electromagnetic waves in all directions. The Striker, being the closest, instantly became paralyzed, and the entire base fell into disarray within the range of the disruptive waves.
"Father, let me give it a try! Wanderer is powered by a nuclear reactor and fully capable of fighting it!"
Mako Mori's resolute words slightly softened Pentecost's heart. After a moment of silence, he whispered, "Go... but be careful."
"Yes, General!"
Mako Mori respectfully saluted and turned around, walking towards the mech control room with Raleigh. Seeing that the danger had passed, Tail Rat immediately headed towards the city to search for Newton.
The Leatherback Turtle circled around the Striker, while Yihu stood on a building near the sea, watching the distant battle. Just as the successfully landed Tail Rat was about to smash a nearby obstructing building with a single palm, it noticed Yihu standing at the top.
Two agonized roars echoed in its mind as it ran towards the shelter where Newton was located. The Leatherback Turtle, about to collide with the Striker, heard the sound of propellers behind it and stopped its action, turning around to face the Wanderer, ready for a showdown.
Among all the monsters, it understood the art of self-preservation the best. The Wanderer fell heavily into the water, and the Leatherback Turtle roared, swinging its huge fist towards the mech's face. Raleigh and Mako quickly dodged the attack, swiftly manoeuvring behind the Leatherback Turtle and tearing off the disruptive electromagnetic wave emitter on its head.
In a fit of rage, the Leatherback Turtle embraced the Wanderer tightly around the waist, spinning in place twice before fiercely throwing it towards the city. After a dizzying whirl, the Wanderer crashed heavily into the city. The Leatherback Turtle stomped on the nearby coastline, pounded its chest with both hands, and let out a loud roar before using all its limbs to run towards the Wanderer.
The two massive entities collided in the city. The Wanderer grabbed the sharp horn on the Leatherback Turtle's head with one hand while continuously striking its cheek with the other, splattering pale blue blood in all directions.
"Activate Rocket Punch!"
Raleigh shouted, and the Wanderer's propulsion system at the elbow launched a heavy punch that landed forcefully on the Leatherback Turtle's face, sending several white teeth flying.
The Leatherback Turtle retaliated by grabbing a nearby crane and smashing it towards the Wanderer. Caught off guard, the Wanderer was knocked to the ground, but Raleigh, controlling the mech, quickly grabbed a shipping container from the ground and fought back.
The intense battle made Yi hu wish he could take part. The Wanderer maneuvered behind the Leatherback Turtle, locking it in place, and after spinning in place twice, threw it forcefully. As the Leatherback
Turtle landed, it pounded its chest with both fists and let out a roar. After a short sprint, it tightly embraced the Wanderer around the waist, attempting to crush it. Raleigh, enduring the pain transmitted through the neural sensors, shouted loudly, "Hold on, Mako! Let me use the plasma mortar to eliminate it!"
Mako Mori clenched her teeth as she controlled the Wanderer, tightly gripping the Leatherback Turtle's left arm. Raleigh began charging the plasma mortar on the right arm. Three seconds later, the Leatherback Turtle's body suddenly trembled, and blue blood flowed down like a waterfall.
After firing five plasma mortars, the Leatherback Turtle lost its lustre and crashed heavily to the ground. Following the Knifehead incident, Raleigh had developed a habit of finishing off opponents. He casually fired the remaining plasma mortars at the Leatherback Turtle.
The Tail Rat, who found Newton, heard the commotion behind it and slowly backed out of the shelter. It turned its head and let out a roar towards the Wanderer. Raleigh piloted the mech, wielding a ship and fiercely smashing it on the Tail Rat's head. Pale blue blood splattered everywhere.
The enraged Tail Rat forcefully swung its tail, sending the ship flying and pushing the Wanderer back. It concealed itself in the shadows of the surrounding buildings, ready to launch a surprise attack at any moment.
"Can the helicopters spot the enemy's figure?"
Raleigh asked in a low voice, holding the communicator. After suffering a setback once, he despised this situation of the enemy being hidden while he remained exposed. Four armed helicopters turned on their searchlights, providing vision around the Wanderer.
Just then, the Tail Rat smashed through the buildings on the left side of the mech, carrying the Wanderer, and crashed into the buildings on the other side. The skilled fighters immediately retaliated, controlling the mech. A massive fist brought forth a whistling sound as it heavily struck the Tail Rat's face.
The two colossal beings rolled back and forth among the buildings. The Tail Rat opened its mouth and sprayed corrosive liquid towards the Wanderer. Raleigh maneuvered the mech sideways to avoid it, and seeing that the Tail Rat was about to open its mouth again, he quickly reached out and grabbed the venom sac in its mouth, pulling it forcefully.
The Tail Rat let out a painful cry, grabbing the Wanderer's right arm with both hands and using its tail to entangle the Wanderer's left arm, exerting force to tear it to pieces. Raleigh, enduring the pain transmitted through the neural sensors, said in a low voice, "Hold on! Activate the coolant on the left side!"
Mako Mori clenched her teeth and nodded, starting the coolant. Several gaps opened on the left side of the mech, releasing white smoke. A few seconds later, the Wanderer forcefully pushed, directly shattering the Tail Rat's tail.
The intense pain empowered the Tail Rat, and it knocked down the legs of the Wanderer, firmly grabbing onto its back. It raised its arms, unfurling hidden wings, and carried the Wanderer into the sky.
"Our oxygen is running out. Once the plasma mortars are fired, we won't have any options..." Raleigh's face revealed a hint of unwillingness. They were so close to success, yet stumbled at the final step. Mako Mori clenched her teeth and said in a low voice, "There's still one option!"
As soon as her voice fell, a chain sword popped out from the Wanderer's left arm, then retracted into a sharp sword. The two controlled the sword and cut the Tail Rat in half. Freed from its grasp, the Wanderer rapidly descended from a height of 50,000 feet.
After a dull landing sound, dust rose in the city center. Pentecost used binoculars to watch the slowly standing mech amidst the dust and exclaimed loudly, "We did it!"
The Tail Rat's body slowly fell in the city. Hannibal began mobilizing his subordinates to collect materials from the creature's body
. Yi Hu looked at the crowd surrounding the Tail Rat and shook his head slightly. The Tail Rat was the only kaiju capable of natural reproduction.
Amid Newton's horrified gaze, a juvenile Tail Rat emerged from the broken corpse. Yi Hu casually picked up a rock and threw it at the monster.
Walking up to Hannibal, Yi Hu said in a low voice, "I need you to do something for me."
Hannibal's eyes flashed with a struggle, and then he lowered his head and whispered, "I'm willing to serve you, boss!"
Newton, who was on the side, looked at Yi Hu with surprise. He didn't expect that there was a boss behind Hannibal Chau. After watching the two leave, Newton began preparing the neural connector, intending to enter the kaiju's brain once again to gather information. This time, Herman decided to connect with him, laying the foundation for humanity's victory.
"Those two people are a bit annoying," Yi Hu said in a plain tone. Hannibal Chau's eyes flickered, and he said somewhat regretfully, "There's nothing we can do. We did our best. Who could have expected there to be a juvenile creature inside the monster?"
Yi Hu nodded in satisfaction. Just as the two were about to celebrate the end of the neural connection, one of Hannibal Chau's subordinates stabbed them to death with a monster's tooth. Pentecost, who received the report, furrowed his brow. He couldn't afford to quarrel with Hannibal Chau, the financial backer, during this crisis. He still relied on him for the subsequent repairs of the mechs.
If the two scientists were gone, they could simply recruit new ones. Without Newton's reminder, Pentecost didn't know the conditions for traversing the spatial rift. With the Striker Eureka and the Gipsy Danger engaged in a fierce battle underwater, both mechs self-destructed simultaneously. Aside from Mako, who used the escape pod to leave, the remaining three sacrificed themselves.
Facing the uncloseable rift and the despair of the people inside the dome, just as the world leaders were preparing to use all their strength to perish with the enemy, a ceasefire order was issued to the Precursors.
During that year, humanity unleashed its potential, taking the mechs to new heights. This gave rise to a conglomerate called Shaw Industries, with Mako as the Secretary-General due to her hero status. Yi Hu had Hannibal Chau build a single-pilot mech based on new technology.
Shaw Industries wanted to open the market with unmanned mechs. Yi Hu once again traveled through the spatial rift at the bottom of the Pacific, controlling the Kaiju King to issue a self-destruct command. Except for a small group of people who chose to resist, the rest of the Precursors self-terminated one after another.
After touring the world of the Precursors, Yi Hu returned to Earth and piloted the new mech to the Shaw Industries exhibition. He was ready to kill Mako Mori and Pentecost's son to complete this mission of destruction.
Sitting on the plane, Mako looked at Jack, who was piloting the mech, and a smile appeared on her face. Just then, a large number of seagulls flew in from the coastline. Yi Hu drove the black mech slowly up to the shore, looking at the scattered crowd fleeing around him, feeling as if he had entered an Ultraman set.
He opened the missile launcher on his shoulder and attacked the helicopters in the air. Jack's eyes narrowed as he watched the falling aircraft and let out a roar. Piloting the Gipsy Danger, he quickly rushed to the crash site, prepared to catch his sister.
Seizing the opportunity, Yi Hu launched two missiles towards the Gipsy Danger, intending to complete the mission as quickly as possible. The impact of the missiles changed the angle of Gipsy Danger's attack. Jack watched helplessly as the helicopter carrying Mako exploded before his eyes.
"No! Sister!"
Jack's eyes turned bloodshot as infinite killing intent surged within him. Knight, who was connected to him, sighed in his heart and controlled Gipsy Danger to charge at Yi Hu. The two of them cooperated seamlessly, evading the incoming missiles.
The plasma mortar on the right hand began charging, and Yi Hu's mouth curled up in disdain. He controlled the mech and unleashed two high-speed spinning long swords, swiftly approaching Jack. In a split second, he severed the raised arm of Gipsy Danger and left a wound across its waist.
Jack manoeuvred the mech, throwing a punch at the back of Yi Hu's head. The pain transmitted through the neural sensors made Yi Hu furrow his brow. Turning around, he crossed his swords, aiming for Gipsy Danger's waist. Just when Yi Hu thought victory was in his grasp, the remaining arm of Gipsy Danger sprung out a long sword, firmly blocking his attack.
