Issei's eyes widened in disbelief as he beheld the transformation of Red's armor, surpassing even its previous awe-inspiring form.
It appeared as though Red had absorbed the chaotic power swirling within the Dimensional Gap itself, resulting in a sleeker, more menacing version of his armor that radiated with intensified energy.
Moving with the speed of a blazing star, Red streaked through the Dimensional Gap, his roars echoing through the boundless expanse.
"ARRRRRRRRGGGGHHHH! FIVE PORTAL EXPLOSION STUNT!" Red's thunderous roar reverberated as they soared through the portals once more.
The release of their cataclysmic power birthed shockwaves of calamitous energy, causing explosions that rippled through the very fabric of the Dimensional Gap.
The aftermath was a magnificent display of apocalyptic devastation, with Red and Issei riding the wave of the fifth portal's explosion like skilled surfers conquering a colossal tsunami.
As the adrenaline subsided and their surroundings regained a semblance of tranquility, Red's armor gradually dissipated, revealing his panting form.
"Damn… that was fucking awesome!" he exclaimed, the lingering thrill evident in his voice.
Issei's amazement was palpable as he voiced his astonishment, "I can't believe you pulled off five portal explosions! I was already blown away by the fourth one! When did you acquire this incredible Apocalypse Overdrive ability, Red?"
A proud chuckle escaped Red's lips as he responded, "Heh… I learned it while you were away. I realized I could achieve greater aerodynamics by modeling my armor after your Balance Breaker. And I even added energy dispensers to the wings and feet of my Apocalypse Overdrive, allowing me to channel my power into even greater speed. Oh, and did you notice the shades? They're pretty badass, right?"
A grin spread across Issei's face as he nodded in agreement. "Hell yeah, they are! Damn, I've missed hanging out with you, Red…" he chuckled warmly.
Red let out a grunt of approval. "Damn straight you did. This is what being a dragon is all about. By the way, you've been awfully quiet, Ddraig. How are you holding up?" Red's inquiry shifted the focus to Issei's own partner, the Welsh Dragon.
Ddraig's voice resonated with a mixture of pride and concern. "I must admit, Red, your recent display of power has left me impressed. But remember, with great power comes great responsibility. Be sure to wield it wisely and not let it consume you."
Red's expression turned serious as he nodded in understanding. "You're right, Ddraig. I'll keep that in mind. We're a team, after all. We'll navigate this power together."
Issei's heart swelled with gratitude for the bond he shared with Red and Ddraig, realizing that their extraordinary abilities were not just about raw power, but also about the responsibility and support they offered one another.
Ddraig's voice held a tinge of admiration as he spoke, "Better than expected after that last stunt. I must admit, Red, I'm truly amazed by your mastery of the Apocalypse Overdrive."
Red responded with a hint of pride, "Hmph, yep… I can create some pretty cool stuff when I have the right motivation."
Issei's curiosity couldn't be contained any longer, and he spoke up slowly, "Hey, Red, I have a question for you…"
The large dragon gruffly replied, "What is it?"
Issei hesitated for a moment before continuing, "Did you ever know God? I mean, we've touched on the subject a few times, but I have friends who worship him. It made me curious about what he was like."
Great Red let out a hearty laugh, the sound echoing through the air. "Oh, I knew him a bit. Let's just say we didn't exactly see eye to eye."
"Why's that?" Issei's curiosity deepened.
"He was a square, obsessed with order and rules and all that crap," Red explained dismissively. "God didn't particularly like dragons because we embody chaos—the antithesis of what he stood for. Still, we did come to an understanding at some point, a couple of thousand years ago. He promised he would leave me alone as long as I didn't go around destroying Heaven or Earth. After that, we were cool, for the most part."
Issei's interest was piqued further, and he pressed on, "How exactly did he die? I never really asked."
Red grunted, clearly recalling the event. "Ddraig hasn't told you? Well, it's funny considering he and Albion were the ones responsible for God's demise."
"We didn't directly kill him, but we played a significant role in his death," Ddraig clarified.
Issei's eyes widened with surprise. "Really? I thought you and Albion fought against him and lost. How did you both end up sealed then?"
Ddraig let out a weary sigh, preparing to share a more detailed account of their history. "Well, I've only given you the abridged version of the story so far. When Albion and I engaged in our great and epic duel many centuries ago, our immense power frightened the angels, devils, and fallen angels. They joined forces out of fear and desperation. As I mentioned before, we managed to slay the old Maou, the leaders of the fallen angels, and a few archangels. Working together, we were unstoppable, and none of them could stand against us. However, it was during that time that God made the ultimate sacrifice. He gave up his own life to seal Albion and me within the Longinus sacred gears, as he realized he couldn't defeat the two of us together. Although, truth be told, I don't think we truly faced his full power. He seemed rather weak during our encounter."
Issei couldn't help but express his admiration, a wide grin stretching across his face. "You guys must have been complete badasses back in your original bodies."
