Michael sat next to Victor who had set up a temporary fire to cook food for Michael after being incessively nagged.
"Are you sure you have time for this?" Victor asked Michael as he turned the rabbit leg over the fire.
"Yep I've got more than enough points see." Michael proudly showed off his acylated points.
"3,548 points... That's just more than me." Victor frowned slightly at his own progress, as he thought he had the advantage over Michael with having more manpower.
"How many you got?" Michael asked but he still kept his gaze to the nearly done meat in front of him.
"3,529 points from non stop killing... How did you get more, even when I slept I made points?" Victor became confused upon realising that he should have had more points.
"Oh? I kept dungeon diving, only killing wild monsters on the way between dungeons, so I earned quite a bit from clearing dungeons." Michael answered with stars in his eyes as Victor passed a cooked Rabbit leg to him.
"Mm juicy, with nice crispy skin, oh this is nice." Right after taking a bite Michael was in heaven, as juice from the meat stained his mouth.
"If I had better tools and spices it would've been better, especially when this is some nice meat." Victor responded before taking a bite out of his, and likewise enjoying it although bearly.
Emotions wasn't the only thing he found hard to feel, as most this became grey to him, bland food, pain and warmth, even the cold became hard to feel.
But to Victor he chalked it up to the memories and knowledge of another life, which is only part of the issue, their is only a few people with knowledge on the subject and Victor isn't really one of them.
As he doesn't have any memories from that day, as for Michael he was there that day but he didn't and still doesn't understand what happened.
Only that Victor went through an accident, that changed him from his joyful happy self, to the mostly emotionless self he is now.
At first he was scared of this different Victor, who felt unhuman to him but after learning that Victor's accident left him like this, he swore he would help his brother.
So after a year of eating bland food, Victor got frustrated so he spent the next year learning how to cook though online teaching videos made to train people with cooking related classes.
At first Michael thought it would be impossible to learn the knowledge of another class, but that thought was thrown out the window when Victor's cooking improved quickly.
And so Michael thought he could learn as well... That was a mistake as no matter what he made it tasted terrible, like he made poison instead of food.
In fact Michael's cooking is one of the only things that Victor can fully taste, that's how bad it is.
As for Victor to taste good food it needs to have wonderful and vibrant flavours and even then it's hard to get the full taste, so you can imagine how bad Michael's cooking is.
Even though for some strange reason it doesn't taste that bad to Michael himself...
"Yo what was up with that, did you curse them or something?" Michael asked.
"I don't have the ability to do that, but I did read somewhere that a certain type of witchdoctor could...." Victor replied before drifting off into thought.
"Then why did they run off to shit themselves?" Michael asked with a weird look on his face.
"If you ask me then they must've eaten incorrectly cooked monster meat, as most of the stuff found in the exam area would... Well cause that." Victor answered while eating.
"Oh? So that's why you told me not to cook up any monsters by myself." Michael hand landed in his palm upon this realisation.
"So how bad is it?" Michael couldn't help but ask what would happen if you did.
"Well depending on what you are there can be different results, like for example you can't eat the forest owl meat unless you boil it or stew it.
If you don't then you'll have diarrhoea for about 4 hours, as your body at our level can't handle the toxins within the meat." Victor explained leisurely.
"Then what's the worst thing you can do?" Michael couldn't help commit this to the list of knowledge he has to remember.
"Well that would be Earth Lizard, now normally there would be a few ways to eat it but unfortunately as they're are to low leveled here in this forest, they don't have a monster core, so all of the earth mana within them is chaotic and full of impurities.
Making it so only Tier 1 and above can eat them, which makes it not fun for us to eat them." Victor patiently explained.
"So if we were to eat it what would happen?" Michael asked with a mouth full of meat.
(-_-)
"Well if your lucky than you'll have terrible explosive diarrhoea for about 3 to 4 days." Victor shook his head at the thought.
"And if your unlucky?" Michael couldn't help but asked in horror.
"Then you'll have it for about 1 and half weeks, and no matter what medicine you take it won't stop, as your intestines are affected by the impure earth mana.
Your only option to cure yourself is to either endure it or seek the help of a healer or alchemist." Victor nonchalantly said.
"Well I'll hate to have to go through that." Michael said giving his food a uneasy look over before shrugging his shoulders and digging back in.
It was at this time Victor looked up from his food before speaking.
"It's here." Victor then got up as he grabbed his staff.
Coming out of the purple must in front of them a massive Slug the size of a bicycle followed a skeleton.
"Oh she's a big fellow, we'll have fun." Michael cheered on Victor before turning his full attention to the rest of Victor's share of food left behind.
"Don't mind if I do." Smirking Michael rubbed his hands before digging in.
Meanwhile the owner of the food was controlling his skeletons to surround the boss.
[ *Boss* Poison Slug Queen (Rare) - Lvl 20 ]
A boss is classified as a Wild boss by adventurers because well.. they found in the wild....
So yeah... Anyway this boss was on the stronger side in the area, as it didn't have the same weakness as it inferior brethren.
Not only did it have a strong defence against sharp and blunt weapons because of the venomous slime coating it's body.
It also had an impressive strength for its size, that allowed it to knock down small trees, making it stronger than most monsters in the forest.
But you also had to watch out for the deadly poison fog it emitted and did I forget to mention it could also spit an acidic poison.
Yeah pretty deadly even for some low level adventures from the city, that combined with the fact it's loot was trash and it took a while for one to be born.
Made it so they were pretty much only killed to make sure it's strength it advanced too much.
Luckily for Victor this one hadn't had a commission from a guild to kill it yet.
For others this fight might have been hard but unlucky for it, much like the slimes Victor counted it pretty hard.
So Victor's plan was as simple as usual, use magic at a distance while his summons distract the boss before leaving his Familiar to finish off the boss when weakened.
After a bunch of testing he had so far found that his familiar could grow through killing, which didn't have any impact on his growth.
As he felt it was about to go through a big change at level 10, he wanted to see what the change might be as soon as possible.
Deciding to try his new few spells, Victor raised his staff as a orange spell circle materialised in his mind.
"Small Flame." Victor chanted out loud in accordance to the spell.
A small flame the size of ping pong ball appear before slowly, very slowly moving towards the boss.
Victor frowned as he felt a slight bit of resistance when using the spell, and he still had to concentrate fully even after the spell had completely formed, as it slowly flew.
Upon hitting the boss, the contract location burst into a flame the size of apple as it turned the boss.
"Hmm, I knew it wasn't a combat spell but still I expected more." Victor knew that this spell was mainly used to start camp fires.
But it still was stronger than the ones he had seen in his research, almost double the size.
Not happy with the effects of the spell, he tried the next.
"Jolting Touch." This time a blue Spell Circle formed in his mind, feeling his mana flow through his body and into his arm before gathering in his hand.
Frowning slightly Victor looked down at his left hand, small jolts of electricity jumping between his fingers and palm.
Victor looked up from his hand to the boss before looking back to his hand, Victor looked back and forth before cancelling the spell.
'Yeah there's no way I'm trying that.' Victor came to the wise decision to not use this spell, so he used another.
"Mud Ball." A Earth brown Spell Circle generated this time, dirt rose from the ground before turning into mud.
Then Victor threw the Mud Ball at the boss, the results weren't that impressive as well.
As it only covered the boss in mud..
"I guess non of these spells are really useful outside of certain situations, then I guess I'll have to wait for when I have access to combat spells." Victor shook his head before using an actual attack spell.
= Darkness Bullet =
Flowing his mana in accordance to the complicated Dark black Spell Circle and the knowledge in his mind on how the class spell worked.
Feeling the spell fully formed, Victor aimed before letting it shoot out at the boss, who during this time had destroyed 4 of his weak skeletons.
Unlike the previous spells this time upon impact the boss was immediately damaged, as the spell hit directly on its head.
The Darkness started to dissolve the bosses defence and skin, causing the boss to flop in pain.
But it had a unexpected effect on the boss that Victor didn't expect, as not only did the Darkness Bullet corrod it's defensive slime and skin but it also turned off its eyes.l, leaving the boss blind.
"Huh that was effective." Victor than followed up with a Undeath Flame to further damage the boss, while pulling back his skeletons.
The flame surrounded the boss as it's mind screamed in pain, although no damage appeared on its body from the flame.
The deciding to follow up with two more Darkness Bullets to further weaken the boss, so his familiar could deal the finishing blow.
This whole time the boss just didn't sit there and do nothing, as it whipped it's body around trying to find an enemy, while the whole time release a constant fog of poison.
"Go and kill it with a stab to the head." Victor turned to his Familiar before pointing at the boss.
Stepping forwards his familiars movement was much better when compared to before although still clumsy.
Coming before the boss with it's sword raised, before stabbing down easily though the weakened defence right into the Bosses head.
If the big slug could make noise than it would have as it thrashed around, only to make its wounds worse.
And so it's struggle to stay alive was the final nail in it's own coffin.
[ *Boss* Poison Slug Queen (Lvl 20) Killed + 950 XP ]
"Huh it didn't drop anything." Victor didn't care much as it wouldn't have been anything good anyway, instead he turned his expected gaze to his familiar.
