After five hours of study, Skail blinked and then got up from his seat.
"I should go and eat something."
Skalain washed his face and took off his coat as he left his house.
After walking for ten minutes, he sensed something and looked back, seeing two individuals around his age.
They were wearing simple black mage robes, and on the right side of their shoulders there was a symbol. A triangle with a star inside of it.
The man with the green eyes started talking as he looked at Skalain.
"Hi, Skalain. I am Aldar, and this is my friend Ally. We are from Void Star."
Skalain's eyes widened with surprise as the two individuals introduced themselves as mages from Void Star.
"So, quick!"
"This is not good at all!"
Skalain felt fear in his body for the first time. This was not good at all.
The unexpected encounter left him momentarily taken aback, his mind racing to assess the situation. He instinctively started collecting his magic power and was about to call upon his skeletons to defend himself.
However, the mage who had spoken reassured Skalain with a calm and composed demeanor.
"We mean no harm," Aldar emphasized, his voice carrying a hint of sincerity.
"We've heard of your investigations into the recent murder, and we believe we can assist you."
Skalain studied the two mages before him, their presence emanating a distinct aura of mystique and power.
The knowledge that Void Star was not on good terms with the Tower of Black Sun raised his caution, yet their offer of assistance intrigued him.
"May I ask why you would like to help me out?"
Aldar thought a little as he looked at the woman beside him for a second. The woman mage named Ally nodded, and then Aldar started talking.
"We have already discovered that the dark mage or necromancer who killed Elliot Klein used some sort of soul magic spell."
"We believe that by helping you out, We will clear the name of Void Star."
"As you know, we are not on good terms with Tower of Black Sun, and we cannot go to them to speak for the time being. It is also common knowledge that our organization works on soul magic, and we do not want to take the blame."
Taking a moment to gather his thoughts, Skalain considered the potential benefits of collaborating with the mages from Void Star, and the reasons they were giving made sense. Their different perspectives and insights could shed new light on the investigation, leading them closer to the truth.
"Alright," Skalain finally responded, his voice tinged with a mixture of curiosity and caution. "But remember, any attempt to deceive or hinder me in this investigation will not be taken lightly."
Aldar and Ally nodded, understanding the gravity of Skalain's words. They assured him of their genuine intent to assist.
Skalain, cautiously intrigued by this unexpected turn of events, decided to accompany the mages to a nearby tavern where they could talk in a more neutral setting. As they walked through the dimly lit streets, he couldn't shake the feeling that the path he had chosen was becoming increasingly tangled and dangerous.
"It seems like the second I finish this investigation, I need to leave this town."
"From what I understand more, I met with other people here and got inside of things bigger than me."
