Chương 26: A Hall With Soaring Pillars And Found the Dragon's Egg!
Allen stood before the door, his eyes wide with disbelief and amazement.
"It's incredible!" He was overwhelmed with awe, taking slow steps as he entered the room beyond.
"Booms!"
The door shut behind him, but he remained composed, undeterred.
His attention quickly shifted ahead, revealing an immense hall with ten colossal pillars soaring towards the ceiling.
He advanced slowly, his gaze carefully exploring the interior.
"How could such a large and magnificent hall like this be hidden inside a cave?" Allen pondered, feeling a little perplexed.
The scene before him defied all expectations, and he never imagined discovering such a vast hall concealed within a cave.
"This hall is unbelievably large. Even the grandest halls in the kingdom of Eldoria can't compare," he whispered in awe, glancing around.
The huge pillars, gleaming in bright white, appeared to be crafted from an exceedingly precious material.
The floor appeared to be made of an unknown type of marble, leaving Allen even more amazed as he wondered about the hall's mysterious owner.
"Unfortunately, this hall is very empty, and there is nothing in it," he sighed, feeling a tinge of disappointment.
He had hoped to find something extraordinary or perhaps a treasure, much like in Grython's snake cave, but to his dismay, there was absolutely nothing.
"Perhaps there is more to this hall than meets the eye," Allen thought, taking a deep breath as he continued walking further into its depths.
Due to the hall's immense size, it seemed to stretch on endlessly.
Until suddenly, something caught his attention, causing him to halt in his tracks.
"What is it?" Allen frowned and looked up, spotting a tall staircase adorned in gleaming gold.
However, it wasn't the golden staircase that surprised him the most; it was the enormous nest at the top, cradling a large black egg!
"A nest and an egg?!" Allen exclaimed, taken aback, and he took a cautious step back while scanning his surroundings.
His combat mode was already engaged, and he was prepared to unleash his full strength should any monsters appear.
Yet, despite several minutes of vigilance, no signs of monsters or threats appeared.
"Strange... Am I worrying too much?" Allen mused, trying to calm his racing heart.
He shifted his focus back to the nest and the black egg resting inside.
"Somehow, that nest and egg feel strangely familiar, and a voice in my heart urges me to approach them," Allen pondered, placing his hand on his forehead as he contemplated whether to ascend the stairs or not.
He hesitated, fearing an unfamiliar monster might launch a sudden attack if he approached the egg unprepared.
Moreover, he was uncertain about the kind of monster that might hatch from the egg or if the mother had set traps nearby.
"But I've come this far, and it would be a shame to turn back now, wouldn't it?" Allen pondered, feeling a sense of determination.
"Damn! What do I have to be afraid of?" Allen shook his head, suddenly discarding all his fear and caution.
Having lived a second life, his fears should have weakened, and besides, he had already faced powerful foes in his previous life; why should he fear a mere monster?
"Alright, let's press on!" He said this to himself, mustering his resolve, and ascended the stairs cautiously.
However, as soon as he stepped on the first stair, his eyes widened in astonishment, and the flow of mana throughout his body slowly ceased.
"Mana cancellation?!" Allen exclaimed, staring at the golden stairs beneath his feet in disbelief.
As the name implied, mana cancellation was a highly unique magic often used to seal a [Mage] and various other [Class] types that relied on mana.
People exposed to this magic, either through objects or direct contact, would undoubtedly have their mana flow severed, transforming them into ordinary individuals.
The magic acted as a lock on the mana within their bodies, rendering them unable to access or use it.
Unfortunately, this magic couldn't be used casually, as it had several specific requirements that had to be fulfilled.
One of the prerequisites for using this magic was that the target affected by the spell had to be at least two levels lower than the user.
Meeting these conditions was essential for successfully employing mana cancellation.
Now, the golden stairs beneath him had the potential to seal the mana in his entire body, a fact that held true despite him being only a True Mage.
Even a Wizard would be unable to cast mana-cancelling magic on him due to his extraordinary insight and control of mana from his previous life!
The power of the golden staircase to sever the flow of mana within him was awe-inspiring.
"Everything is becoming more intriguing and mysterious," Allen whispered with a faint smile, realizing that everything was truly beyond his expectations.
Despite his vulnerability to potential ambushes by monsters from behind, he remained unafraid.
The sudden appearance of a barrier, crafted from enigmatic and potent magic, provided a protective shield for the golden staircase and the large nest.
"It's the second time I've encountered magic so strange and unknown to me," Allen muttered while retracting his hand and punching the barrier.
As expected, the barrier blocked his attack.
"With this barrier, I should be safe from monster attacks," he said, nodding to himself.
He then shifted his focus towards the top, where the nest and eggs lay, and began ascending the golden stairs slowly.
Despite their numerous and towering nature, the stairs posed no pressure or traps to hinder him.
Within a few minutes, he reached the top.
"The nest is enormous, and this black egg is much larger than any monster egg I've seen," Allen remarked, approaching the nest with curiosity.
This type of egg appeared highly unfamiliar to him, despite having conducted extensive research on various monsters in his previous life and possessing considerable knowledge about many of them.
Now, the egg before him represented a truly new discovery.
"Right! How could I forget about the system functions?" He gasped, taken aback by his own oversight.
He immediately focused his gaze on the egg and called upon the system.
"System function, appraisal!" he whispered, and soon, information about the egg appeared before his eyes, leaving him astonished as he read the name of the egg.
"A Dragon Egg?!"
