She nodded, Beth's words resounding in her ears. She had said she didn't want to be friends with her either.
Why did she come to her house? Because of Jack. Of course, she had thought Mia wouldn't be home and decided to visit Jack. Mia smiled widely, chuckling in the process. It wasn't one of her beautiful smiles. It was dry and sounded like a frog croaking. Mia had never thought she would hear such an ugly sound from herself. Jack stood still, staring at her strangely. Sheila had left Beth and come to assist her. The only person with a wild smile plastered on her face was Beth. Mia could bet she was ecstatic to see her in that mood. Whatever she had done to deserve such treatment from Beth, she had no idea.
Sheila collected her bag and tried to help Mia, but Jack stopped her. "What's wrong with you, Sheila? I invited Beth here to settle her disagreement with Mia. Don't you want your friends to make up over some sort of misunderstanding?"
