"Thank you for your help, Elius," I said genuinely thankful that he is trying to help me.
"You helped me first," he replied going on his way.
And I went to find Rocco Marino, with the information Elius gave me he should be in the serpent's square, it is supposedly 2 hours away from where I was, taking a carriage I went to the serpent's square.
I was a bit worried about what will Artemis say if she finds out about my endeavors, but she is rarely ever present.
As soon as I got out of the carriage, I knew that this area is nothing like the one I just came here from.
There were almost no soldiers patrolling the streets and this area was more subdued while being loud.
The people here were not flashy, it might be because of how dangerous this area is.
I made my way to where Rocco supposedly resides, in one of the tallest buildings in the Serpent's Square.
It was easy to spot as it was the only building that was the tallest in the whole place.
There are several buildings but they stop short at just a floor smaller than his. It was as if others were afraid to add another floor to the building, afraid of Rocco.
As I took my first step, I spotted a flash of black from the corner of my eyes, when I turned to see what it was there was nothing.
"It must be a shadow," I thought and continued on my way, through the winding paths the last of the sun rays filtered through the clouds, making me realize that it was already evening.
So much time has passed without me realizing it, I quickened my pace, not wanting to be in an unknown place for the night.
When I entered an alley there were some people who were stacking a pile of wood logs against the wall, as I tried to pass by them, the man holding a log stumbled and fell causing the wooden log to fall on the others and as I was watching the whole path was blocked before me, fortunately, no one got hurt.
I was almost out of the alley when I saw a black cat on top of a building, it looked just like the one I saw in my room. There were many cats loitering in these alleys.
I went into another alley, and there were people gathered in it, I went further inside, trying to make sense of what was happening.
"Don't go that way dear, there was an old building that collapsed on the end of the alley," an old lady said to me, then turning to her friends, the two other, old ladies beside her.
"It has been standing there for a hundred years and nothing happened to it, what do you think is the reason for the sudden crumbling of it?"
Why does it feel like someone doesn't want me to meet Rocco?
