The king ordered everyone to leave the room, and only for Artemis to remain.
What does he want to talk about with Artemis that he doesn't want anyone to hear. We all bowed and some of them made their way out.
I looked around unsure of what to do. When the young man who was standing beside the king made his way towards me.
He looked barely older than me. Maybe he was in his twenties, tall and broad-shouldered, with chiseled features that gave him an air of quiet confidence. His hair was a tousled mess of chestnut brown locks that fell in waves around his sharp jawline. His eyes were a bright, almost luminescent green that shone with intelligence and intensity.
He wore a crisp military uniform, the royal blue fabric accentuating the taut lines of his lean physique and a sword hung at his hip, glinting in the light.
Despite his youthful appearance, it was clear that he held a position of great authority within the king's army. There was a sharpness to his features that suggested he had seen his fair share of battles, and the way he held himself suggested a quiet, but undeniable confidence in his own abilities.
There was something in his eyes that made me uncomfortable. There was suspicion glinting in his eyes he looks like he is ready to get everything out of me.
There is so much I have to hide. I can't let his green eyes intimidate me.
"let's go, I will escort you." he said, flashing a smile When he saw the panicked look on my face. Like I would melt from a smile? Does he think I am that easy?
I turned to the witch my eyes wide. What does he want from me? She is the only one in this room that I have to trust with no other choice. Even if it pains me. I have no other choice but to trust her.
She told the king that I was her apprentice. And didn't reveal my identity. I have to rely on her to save me in these kinds of situations as there is no one else for me to rely on.
She turned to the king with a small bow, "Please be gentle with my apprentice. I am a bit fond of her," then her eyes fixed on the guy in front of me with a cold intensity that made her shiver. she said, "and if I found out that she has been mistreated in any way, I might not be so willing to cooperate."
I sat on the edge of the bed; my hands tightly folded in my lap. The guy stood before her, I had been brought back to the same room where I and the witch had been held captive earlier.
He was trying to intimidate me. To get some information out of me.
I relaxed myself. This is going to be a piece of cake for me. I have been through these interrogations since I was a child.
My aunt likes to put me through them to get me to accept the mischief that happened in the palace. That I certainly had committed. But I was so stubborn that they have never been able to get anything out of me.
The guy's voice cut through the silence, "you don't have to be afraid; I am just here to ask you some questions."
"Oh! Don't worry I am not afraid. And you look harmless." I said exaggerating the confidence I didn't have.
"Let me introduce myself, then." He said "I am the commander of the army." there was a hint of smile peeking through, like he was waiting for me to become afraid of him.
I took a deep breath, it was something that had my heart pounding. He was not some soldier i had known he was someone with power, but not this. he can torture me to death here and will not blink an eye.
I turned away from him, calming myself. That is when I saw him. "And he is the one who kidnapped me." i said rising from my seat.
