"What?!" Daniel can't help but shout at the absurd bomb his father just planted.
"Yeah, I asked a friend of mine if he could do something, seeing as how we didn't have the proper funds and connections to get word out on the song. But luckily the man still owed me a favor from back in my college days." Dad says, walking to the computer and playing the short bit of the beat Daniel started. "Let's not waste time now." He says to his frozen son.
Snapping back, Daniel silently sits next to his father, unable to process the info. "Uhh sure." Giving up, he pushes the information away. 'Let future him stress about it' type shit. "So what I was thinking of with this song is just peace and tranquility. Minimal sounds. I did add almost everything of what should be added, I just have to record me humming and add it, then the backtrack should be finished." He says, pushing his father's chair away and adding the few finishing touches.
"Let's start."
---
"What?! But this sounds great already!" Dad says in frustration after a few hours of his son not being satisfied with his vocalizing for the track.
"It's missing something, Pah." Daniel says after listening to the recording of his latest session. Releasing a long breath, Daniel gives up and inserts the vocals in the track.
Maybe it's cause he tried too hard to be as close to the original, but the original was sang by a woman, so no matter how much he tried, he wouldn't get that perfection he was aspiring to get to. What did surprise him though, was how nicely he sounded. He's sure that if he put this as a cover on YouTube in his previous world, he'd get a few thousand views.
"Okay, then. Are we going to record the actual song now?" Dad grumbles, tired of his son, although he won't stop him if he still wanted to record for the adlibs. Why would he? If his son thinks he can do better, why not let him?
"Yeah. I think this is good." Daniel walks into the booth and puts the headphones on, listening on as the song started playing, bringing memories with it. Closing his eyes, he lets the memories flow.
The times when he was still stuck upon his parents' death. Listening to music and coming across this... Masterpiece. It really was one of the songs that helped him during his troubled times.
a Sad smile forms on Daniel's face. Taking a deep breath to try and calm his emotions, he starts.
(AURORA - Runaway.)

I was listenin' to the ocean
I saw a face in the sand
But when I picked it up
Then it vanished away from my hands, dah
I had a dream, I was seven
Climbin' my way in a tree
I saw a piece of Heaven
Waitin' in patience for me, dah
And I was runnin' far away
Would I run off the world someday?
Nobody knows, nobody knows
And I was dancing in the rain
I felt alive and I can't complain
But no, take me home
Take me home where I belong
I can't take it anymore
I was painting a picture
The picture was a painting of you
And for a moment I thought you were here
But then again, it wasn't true, dah

a Tear slowly escapes Daniel's closed eyes as he sang, surprising his father.
--~♪♬~--
And all this time I have been lyin'
Oh, lyin' in secret to myself
I've been putting sorrow on the farthest place on my shelf
La-di-da
And I was runnin' far away
Would I run off the world someday?
Nobody knows, nobody knows
And I was dancing in the rain
I felt alive and I can't complain
But no, take me home
Take me home where I belong
I got no other place to go
No, take me home
Take me home where I belong
I got no other place to go
No, take me home
Take me home where I belong
I can't take it anymore

Daniel's hands slowly start making movements, going from his heart outwards. His voice slowly getting more emotional.
--~♪♬~--
But I kept runnin' for a soft place to fall
And I kept runnin' for a soft place to fall
And I kept runnin' for a soft place to fall
And I kept runnin' for a soft place to fall
And I was runnin' far away
Would I run off the world someday?
But no, take me home
Take me home where I belong I got no other place to go
No, take me home
Take me home where I belong
I got no other place to go
No, take me home, home where I belong, no, no
No, take me home, home where I belong, oh, oh, oh
No, take me home, home where I belong, no, no No, take me home, home where I belong
I can't take it anymore

Silence descends the booth as the song ends.
"Haah." Daniel releases a heavy breath. a Breath filled with all the mixed emotions he was feeling. Raising his arms, he wipes the tears off his cheeks.

"Hmm?" Daniel lifts his head and stares at the notification. "Heh." He chuckles, wiping the last bit of tears off his cheek. "That's nice." His mood already being lifted by the system.
"That was wonderful, Daniel." His father's calm voice reaches his ears, granting him a smile.
"Thanks, Pah. Let's finish the song... I want Mah to hear it too."
---
Mom looks up and hears her two boys entering the lounge. "Did you guys finish the song?" Her question caused an awkward chuckle to escape Daniel's throat.
"Nah, we'll finish it tomorrow as it's getting a bit late." Dad says, sitting next to Mom and squeezing her hand lightly.
"What Pah said... See you tomorrow, Mah." Daniel says and exits the house, not waiting for a reply.
Mom turns to face her husband with a concerned look on her face. "What happened, dear?" She asks, thinking something happened between the two.
"You should've heard him..." Dad spoke. "When he sang Sunflower, he was all smiles, but... When he started singing this new song of his, his emotions burst out and he put all of it into the lyrics." Dad lets out an emotional smile. "I don't know what he's been through when he didn't contact us, but it sounds like something's troubling him. After seeing him so lost in his thoughts while we were finishing the song, I told him I was getting tired and we could finish it tomorrow... It seemed like he needed some time."
---
♩ "Here I am tied and bound~" Daniel softly sings while walking home. "Every night feeling low~ Bad days come back whatever~~" He continues singing as it helps keeps his mind off of things. Unknowingly, his voice got louder bit by bit as he sang, catching the attention of a woman walking close by.
"I know you would make me happy
Girl I found my way out
I found it at last now I'm sober
I know it would make it concrete
Now you're cryin'
(Whouhouwhou)
How sweet a sound
Let's go!~~" Daniel starts playing the air guitar, getting engrossed in it.
"Duhh Duhh Duh-Duh-Duh" He sounds out, mimicking the sound of a guitar.
"Hihi." a Soft giggle sounds from behind him, freezing him in his steps. Slowly turning his head, he spots a woman behind him covering her mouth with her hand.
"Ha?" Daniel lets out a single confused and awkward laugh before speed walking away.
"Ahhhh~ Kill me now!" He whispers to himself, but relaxes after he spot his house nearby.
