Chương 20: Chapter 20 - Ophelia's Battle Pt.2

Ophelia's foul mood was only further intensified by the man's words. Without hesitation, she shot towards him, her eyes fixed on him as he continued to use the water-summoning spell.

The Muddy Hippogator shrugged off the Voltiger's attacks and changed its target, launching itself at Ophelia once again. However, the Mountaineer Hercules Beetle intervened, slamming into the sides of the Muddy Hippogator, causing it to stumble and crash into the arena floor.

The Sea Serpent was the second monster to try to block Ophelia's path. Just like the Muddy Hippogator, it was also blocked, this time by the Voltiger, who prowled directly on the face of the Sea Serpent.

As the two monsters faced off, each immediately attacked. The Sea Serpent released a powerful jet of water, while the Voltiger let out a deafening howl, summoning thunder from the skies.

The jet of water hit the Voltiger straight in the face, sending it flying back. However, the menacing thunder fell directly on the Sea Serpent, which cried out in pain as its whole body was electrocuted.

Although Ophelia felt worried about her companion, she had no time to worry as the Wavebreaker Siren finally moved. In her first offensive, Ophelia had been caught off guard by the monster, but now she was prepared and wouldn't fall for the same trick twice.

With her spear glowing in a bright blue hue, Ophelia jumped towards the Wavebreaker Siren, her eyes completely focused on the monster. Just as the monster let out a scream, Ophelia brandished her spear, discharging a deafening thunder.

Although the loud rumbles of the thunder didn't completely deal with the Siren's cry, it was still capable of offsetting a large portion of its power.

Seeing that its attack had no effect, the Siren decided to change tactics and dove toward Ophelia, its sharp talons pointed directly at her face. Ophelia scoffed and continued forward, a strange blue light flickering in her eyes.

The Wavebreaker Siren cut through the skies rapidly, but just as its claw made contact with Ophelia, her body suddenly turned into a mass of lightning.

The tamer from the water guild frowned as he watched Ophelia's body materialize at the Wavebreaker Siren's back. In the entirety of this fight, this was the first time he felt that things were going out of his control.

However, he didn't lose himself to despair and quickly began to cast another spell. "There's no use in resisting. A naive child like you is never going to win against me."

Ophelia paid no attention to the man's words and continued forward, her spear wrapping up in lightning once again. "You talk too much! This is a battle!" Gathering all her power, she thrust her spear, looking to end the battle once and for all.

The only response from the man to Ophelia's words was a cunning smile. With a wave of his hand, the water rose and formed a wall in front of him.

Ophelia's spear smashed against the water wall, and a powerful shockwave rippled through the area. A lightning attack of this level could easily break through a water barrier, but thanks to the salt present in the water, the force of the lightning dispersed quickly, being conducted through all the water. She gritted her teeth and tried to put more strength into her attack. But, the Wavebreaker Siren appeared behind her, ready to strike with its razor-sharp claws.

Ophelia spun around, deflecting the Siren's attack with her spear. With lightning-fast movements, she dodged and parried the Siren's attacks, striking back with her own lightning-infused blows. As the battle raged on, it became clear to Ophelia that this strategy wouldn't work.

She decided to back off, but her opponent didn't waste such a good opportunity and unleashed a torrent of water that surged toward Ophelia with incredible force. With lightning reflexes, she leaped into the air and dodged the attack, landing gracefully on the ground.

"Hercules, Tesla!" she instantly called her pets as she retreated to the other side of the arena, her mind racing to find an answer to her situation. Thanks to the protective barrier that stopped anything inside the arena from leaving, the water kept rising and had now reached her waist.

Initially, Ophelia had faith that her companions could win against the opponent's pets, but now she wasn't so sure, given the changed environment inside the arena. "Hercules, Earth Pillar!"

As soon as she commanded, the mountaineer Herculean Beetle screeched and the ground rose up, taking Ophelia and her two pets out of the flooded arena. Now that she was in a safe place, she felt calmer and looked up at the sky, where two of her pets were still charging up their spells.

The chance to defeat the man would increase if she called them back, but forcefully canceling the spell would hurt her two pets due to feedback energy, so this didn't even enter her mind.

Her second choice was to break the protective barrier around the arena, but unfortunately, this was basically impossible with her current strength. She could always concede this match, after all, her pets were barely injured, and she still would have a chance to pass to the next round. However, there was no way that she would back down after the man had spewed so much nonsense.

The battle seemed to reach a standstill as the two participants eyed each other, but only those who truly understood what was happening in the battle knew the truth. Each second that Ophelia wasted would only bring her downfall.

" I guess we have no choice…" Ophelia took a deep breath and mentally commanded her pets, the Mountaineer Herculean Beetle and the Voltiger, to attack.

Hercules, the Mountaineer Herculean Beetle, was the first to move. He jumped from the tall stone pillar and smashed into the arena floor, causing the water to rise and splash around.

" Oh? Don't you see that your efforts are all useless?" The man from the Water Guild let out a sly laugh as he commanded his two pets to attack. But before he could finish the command, Ophelia emerged past the waves that blocked his view.

The man looked at the girl dumbfounded, not understanding what gave her the courage to go head-on against him and his three pets. "Sea Serpent! Muddy Hippogator! Finish her now!" But if she truly desired to die, he would gladly accept it.

Ophelia had a determined expression on her face, ready to face everything that came her way, and strangely her two pets were not by her side. The Sea Serpent was the first to attack her, spitting a torrent of water which Ophelia barely managed to block with her shield.

She was knocked back as the torrent smashed into her shield, and even before she could regain her footing, the Muddy Hippogator was already fast approaching, its hideous maw completely open.

The man from the Water Guild watched the battle with a bloodthirsty grin, completely oblivious to the fast-approaching Voltiger by his side. The Voltiger's paws were completely enveloped in lightning, allowing him to swiftly dash around above the water.

The man from the Water Guild was caught completely off-guard by the monster attack. However, his Wavebreaker Siren reacted swiftly and glided toward the Voltiger. The man finally thought he was safe as he watched the two monsters face off. Yet, he barely expected that the Mountaineer Herculean Beetle would emerge from underwater, its large pincers aiming for his waist.

The man swiftly retreated, but unfortunately, the Saltspire, who was still busy increasing the salinization of the water, was caught in the attack. The Saltspire cried out in pain as its body was almost snapped in half by the Mountaineer Herculean Beetle. The salamander-like monster tried to resist, but the difference in strength between them was too much, and Hercules slowly began to tighten its pincers around the Saltspire's body.

Seeing his companion at Death's door, the man from the Water Guild quickly reacted and sent a torrent of water toward the giant beetle. However, it barely felt a tingle from the man's attack. "Sea Serpent! What are you doing? Come help!" The man was surprised to see that Ophelia was still standing.

Ophelia's breath was faint, her whole body was riddled with wounds, and the arm that she wielded her shield with was even broken. However, this mattered very little to her as she finally was able to stop the man from summoning more water.

"Well, it was harder than I thought," Ophelia said, letting out a deep breath as she looked up at the storm clouds covering the skies. "If you had continued flooding the arena for a few more minutes, I wouldn't have been able to do anything. But this time is different."

With their goal reached, the Mountaineer Herculean Beetle threw the Saltspire away and began to retreat toward Ophelia. The man from the water guild looked at the retreating beetle with a face full of fury and confusion. They finally had the upper hand, so it didn't make any sense for them to back off. However, it didn't take too long for him to realize what was happening.

As Ophelia's two pets reached her, Hercules once again summoned another earth pillar, this time even larger. The giant earth pillar stood just above the thunderclouds. Ophelia then called the Voltiger and the Mountaineer Herculean Beetle back to her spiritual space.

"You aren't the only one who prepared something," she said with a sigh, looking at the Storm Drake and the Thunderbird inside the thunderclouds. "I wanted to use this on the final day, but it seems I can't hold back." She lifted her spear, and with that, all the thunder stored in the clouds began to gather around it.
