Chương 5: Ch. 5 Hunting

In a large hall . . .

The man in his dream stood infront of a large prestine throne, but he wasn't alone. Three anxious knights kneeled beneath him as they had their heads pointed downward.

John was viewing this in first person from the mans point of view, and felt everything from the overwhelming sense of strength and the ungodly amount of mana coursing through his body.

'If this is from my previous life, it'll definitely be of help to me, I need to learn everything I can from this dream guy!' John thought, as his eyes glittered in excitment.

One of the armored knights stepped forward. "Sir Roukel, the vampire Duke Arkells, massacred the punitive force of 1,500 knights and 20,000 soldier that we had sent to the Great Plains. Please calm down and wait until the infantry brigade is ready!" the armored knight said anxiously.

'So my name was Roukel in my past life?' John thought

"Arkell entered my domain, torched our food supply and slaughtered my people.

I'm going to kill him, and I don't need meat shield to do so." Despite sounding so aggressive and arrogant, Roukels had an emotionless and nearly robotically tone of voice.

Roukel turned around and walked away from the three armored knights, then the background changed.

It was a pitch black night and inside of the completely closed off castle, the darkness was impenetrable and was void like in appearance.

*Clang*

With a burst of light, the figure of Roukel crossing blades with a pale handsome man appeared from the sparks of the swords connecting, and then it went dark once again.

Despite it being completely pitch black, a fluctuating pulse of mana could be seen inside of Roukels eye, allowing him to see in the dark.

'Such a complex technique, I feel like I could recreate this in real life!'

The moment Roukel used his night vision, John felt how he did it, and instinctively knew he could do it as well

"Sword Saint Roukel? I didn't invite you, but I welcome you to my castle nonetheless. Did you come here looking for revenge for your pathetic little soldiers? They made a nice lunch for me and my servants!! KeKeKe!!!"

"..."

"How exciting! I'm looking forward to… ugh!" Arkells couldn't finish speaking.

Roukel immediately closed the gap between them and sliced off his sword wielding arm.

'He's fast!' John thought.

He was so fast that John couldn't see what had happened, however he had a general idea of what happened. Roukel's super charged his body with mana, causing it to move forth at blinding speeds that even Roukel could barely handle.

John started to "remember" how to do it, as if the technique was engraved in his memory and had already known it for years.

'Roukel moved so fast that he had a predetermined path that he had to follow because he was too fast to just react!' John felt awestruck at the technique, but the problem was whether he could use this technique or not.

With furrowed eyebrows, John came to the conclusion that if he used this technique at his full capacity, he would quite literally rip himself apart if he used too much mana. Just the fact that he could accidentally move so fast that he could kill himself, proved how powerful this movement technique was!

The victor was decided in a nano seconds , as Roukel once again used his movement technique on the weaponless Arkell, splitting his body into two piece.

Standing above the bisected Vampire that was still alive, Roukel held a sneer as he looked down at it.

"Pathetic blood sucker."

The sword in Roukels hand turned into a blur as the vampires body was turned into thousands of tiny pieces.

"Even a vampire Duke can't resurrect in this condition, my people are safe once again." Saying this, Roukels emotionless face had a slight grin on it.

------------

A new bulletin board message appeared on Hunter.com the morning that John was scheduled for his solo run.

That bulletin board was flooded with likes from every country, and within ten minutes it became the most trending. John didn't know what was happening and took a shower.

Travelling to the Hunter Mart, John bought all the necessities he would need for his solo run.

-----------

Arriving on his dirty and wornout black and silver bicycle, it took John a little over 30 minute to arrive at the location. John could've gone faster but feared his bicycle breaking if he went all out.

Out in the middle of a Kansas field, there stood a tear in reality no bigger than a shed. The gate pulsed and swirled with dark and dreary colors that warned those too weak from entering.

When he arrived at the entrance to the dungeon gate, dozens of Hunters were gathered there with their phones out.

'WTF?'

"The Legend has arrived! I can't believe he's actually do this!" The word had somehow spread that John, the certifiably weakest Hunter in the world, had beaten a c ranker and then scheduled a D rank solo dungeon had spread like wildfire.

"You wanna make a bet about whether the Legend gives up or gets wiped?"

"Sure, $10,000 says he gives up and leaves"

"Alright then, $10,000 say he doesn't leave at all. Even if what happened yesterday is true, which I doubt, there's no way that the Legend could clear a D-rank dungeon by himself." Many still doubted the events of yesterday, but just John attempting a dungeon alone gave some credence to the claims.

John could hear their conversation thanks to his increase mana.

'Was yesterday not enough of a warning? I wonder, would they stop calling me the Legendary Healer if i beat the clear record, or will they start meaning it when they calling me Legendary?' John smiled icily as his goal had changed. Rather than just solo clearing the D-rank dungeon, he wanted to crush the record.

'My dungeon clear time will be in the top ten, if I can't do that, then I have no right to use Roel!'

With intent of breaking the record and shocking the world, John walked towards the entrance of the dungeon. A Dungeon Bureau worker was on standby there.

"Are you the D-rank Healer, Mr. John Jackson?" the worker asked.

"Yes, that's me."

"Please let me check your license."

John took out his Hunter's License. When the worker was finished, he gave it back

"You know that you can back out if you want t-

"Fuck off" unleashing a small amount of kill intent as his pride flared up, John was tired if being looked down upon an ignored the worker and entered the gate

Most dungeons tended to be extremely dark inside but John didn't let it get to him.

He withdrew the 'Light Drone' from his bag and threw it into the air.

The Drone activated and brightened up the entire room, it started flying around in circles until it locked into John, and started hovering right above him.

'It was a good buy.' John smiled. The cheap handheld Magic Lamp gave off a limited amount of light and simultaneously limited combat, and while he just recently learned how to use Night vision, he didn't want to waste mana if he could help it.

Therefore, an autonomous Light Drone was perfect for a solo player and while it costed him $1,000, a solo player's income was quite high so he didn't worry about the cost.

'Let's begin.' Running full Sprint into the Dungeon, John knew he couldn't beating the record if he was just walking

After awakening and regaining a portion of his past lifes memories, he gained a few new abilities. One of the abilities was his incredibly high killing intent that would normally take decades of constant slaughter to attain, and the other was sixth sense to detect even the smallest amount of killing intent.

This detection ability is what allowed him to dodge Joey's sneak attack even though he had perfectly hid his killing intent.

Presence Detection!

'There's a small group ahead, theres.... five of them.' Running full Sprint, the bright light of the drone momentarily blinded the cave dwelling creatures, and illuminated them for John 'It's Goblins!'

Running forward while they were momentarily blinded, John decapited three of them at once, and easily stabbed the remaining two with ease.

Goblins first appeared in the E-rank dungeons and were the strongest creatures in them, but in D ranked dungeon, they were the weakest and most common enemy that you could face.

Taking out a sharp dagger, John quickly stabbed into the chest of a goblin and pulled out a pinky nail sized pink crystal. John wouldnt degrade Roel by using him to extract goblin crystal.

After extracting the crystals, John went on to kill twenty more goblins until he noticed something strange.

'This level of killing intent is much higher than the previous goblins, this is something different!' Deciding to take the cautious route, John turned off his light drone and used his night vision.

As he followed his memory and manipulated mana into his eyes, the world around him seemed to change drastically as if it was a sunny day out.

Cautiously walking towards the presences, John peeked the corner of the dirt corridor and saw 3 giant green monsters that had ginormious tusks sticking out of their mouths.

'Orcs!.'

The Orc was a frightening D-rank monster that killed countless naive Hunters. In general, a single experienced D-rank Hunter could take on two Orcs.

Pulling out his dagger that was coated in Goblin blood, John decided to play it smart.

Throwing the dagger at the opposite wall, all three orcs turned around to investigate the noise, leaving their backs turned towards John.

Expertly hiding his Killing intent, John snuck up right behind them and coated his sword in Aura as he bisected two of them on the spot, and pierced the last one in the head. Despite such easy kills, John still had a frown on his face.

'I really need to find something to sharpen Roel. If I dont coat him in Aura mid battle, then he'd never be able to slice through anything!' Despite him being loyal to Roel, John knew for a fact that if he had just used a regular sword, he wouldn't have needed to waste mana on activating Aura to kill the large orcs.

If John was being honest with himself, the main reason he didn't extract the crystals using Roel, was because Roel wasnt sharp enough.

Picking up the dagger, John onced again stabbed into the chest of the orc and pulled out a pink crystal the size of a thumb.

After taking out multiple groups of Orcs, John had finally arrived at the Boss Room. Without wasting time, he tapped on the door and activated the machine that opens the gates.

The moment the gate opened Slightly, he heard a shout filled with killing intent draw closer.

'I-it's fast!' John was barely able to jump back as a flying object clipped him in the shoulders, causing blood to start spurting out.

"Heal!" Placing his hand over the wound, it immediately stopped bleeding and started healing slightly. On the wall behind him was a dark brown javelin stuck deep into the wall.

With rage in his heart, John grabbed the Javelin with his left hand as he recalled the familiar memories that lingered in his head.

Focusing his eyes at the tall figure, John channeled all of his anger into this strike. Anger at the Orc for attacking him, but angrier at himself for letting such a pathetic creature wound him because he was rushing.

Cocking the Javelin back, John threw it with all his might, only for it to leaving hands like a cannon

'Why is it so fast?!'

The javelin cut through the air like a missile, John couldn't hide his surprise as the javelin pierced through the Orc chieftains chest and was lodged deeply into the stone wall behind.

-Verifying assault, measurement complete. D-rank dungeon, clear.

Without even stepping into the boss room, John had already killed the boss.

Suddenly feeling anger from his right hand, John lifted Roel to his face.

"Ah I'm sorry I used something other than you Roel, but I was angry...Your just angry that I could let my self get injured by a mere orc?.....C'mon let's just leave this dungeon and get you a new sheath?....Haha that's the spirit!"

Walking towards the Orcs corpse, John had an idea of what just happened. Pulling out the brown javelin, he took out the measuring tool and placed it right on top of it.

-Verifying the existence of a new item.

[D-rank item]

- Minor acceleration effect.

- Minor Piercing effect.

'Thats why it flew so fast. Now that I think about it, I never did appraise Roel. No time like the present.' he thought.

Caught up in all of the excitement John had forgotten to appraise Roel, but he decided to appraise it now!

-Verifying the existence of a new item.

'What is this?' Upon seeing the stats, John became speechless.
