Chương 5: Chapter 5: Shendu and the Pan-Ku Box!

Demons are immortal; even if they are swallowed by hell, they are merely imprisoned there once more!

But for Shendu, being confined to hell was far more terrifying than death itself...

Especially since there were six demons in hell that he had betrayed in the past!

If he were to return to hell, endless torment would await him!

With this in mind, Shendu's heart was filled with boundless fear!

"My brother! Please don't do this! I cannot return to hell... Forgive me... I promise never to betray you again!" Shendu roared with his last ounce of strength.

At this moment, he was genuinely terrified...

Just then, not too far away, the fabric of space began to shatter, and a black hole-like entity gradually formed...

On the other side of the black hole was the hell that imprisoned the demons!

At this moment, Shendu was on the verge of collapse...

But in the next instant, he felt the shackles on his soul vanish!

Without any hesitation, Shendu immediately fled back into the Panlong statue!

At the same time, the emerging gate to hell completely disappeared...

Samuel ultimately did not cast Shendu into hell!

Of course, this wasn't out of any fraternal loyalty!

Ever since Shendu had betrayed the other demons, there had been no brotherly bond between them!

Samuel's actions were ultimately due to the pesky laws governing this world!

Although their current world was a fusion of Marvel, DC, and Jackie Chan Adventures, the laws of Jackie Chan Adventures still existed within it!

These laws dictated a balance between good and evil!

Simply put, this world needed Shendu to maintain balance. If he were banished to hell, a new demon would emerge to maintain that balance!

And given the current situation, that demon could very well be Samuel himself...

So, to avoid causing trouble for himself, Samuel ultimately decided to spare Shendu!

Besides, he knew that for the story to continue, Shendu's presence was essential...

Clearly, Shendu was unaware of all this and thought that Samuel spared him out of old friendship.

"Thank you, my brother! I promise I'll never betray you again!" Shendu hastily spoke up, genuinely afraid.

But Samuel couldn't care less about Shendu's promises and asked, "Where's the Pan Ku Box?"

Not long after escaping Hell, Samuel had tried to find the Pan Ku Box, which held great importance for demons. According to the original storyline, he made a special trip to the temple where the Box was kept. To his surprise, it wasn't there. Samuel suspected Shendu had taken the Pan Ku Box long ago, and as it turned out, he was right!

"My brother! I did have the Pan Ku Box a long time ago. I hid it with the Golden Rooster King's treasure," Shendu confessed, not daring to conceal anything after their previous encounter. "But to open the treasure, I must obtain all the talismans' power!"

"If you help me get all the talisman powers, you can have the Pan Ku Box! And then you can free our other brothers and sisters!"

He also mentioned his desire to have Samuel help him find the talismans since Valmont and the others had proven utterly useless, failing to bring him even one talisman. He needed Samuel's help!

However, Samuel frowned upon hearing this because it seemed like too much trouble. His initial concern about finding the Pan Ku Box was the fear of being sealed back into Hell. But now that he had acquired immunity to sealing, the Box held little value for him. The only ones who truly needed the Pan Ku Box were the other six demons still trapped in Hell:

Po Kong the Mountain Demon! Xiao Fung the Wind Demon! Tchang Zu the Thunder Demon! Bai Tza the Water Demon! Dai Gui the Earth Demon! And Hsi Wu the Sky Demon!

Only through the power of the Pan Ku Box could they escape Hell. Honestly, Samuel didn't have any special feelings for these demons, but as fellow siblings, he couldn't deny them their chance at freedom. As for whether they would be sealed back into Hell after escaping, that was beyond Samuel's control.

So, Samuel decided to help Shendu – but only to a point.

"I'll help you get the Rat Talisman. As for the rest, you're on your own!" Samuel said.

The Rat Talisman represented the power of life, granting movement to static objects and imbuing non-living things with life and the ability to act. Shendu needed the Rat Talisman to restore his body from the Dragon Statue form.
