"We told you she'd be fine," Ezra said as he nudged Emilia's shoulder, grinning at their victory.
The twins always enjoyed telling Nathaniel that they were right and Emilia was certain that Nathaniel was relieved that they were.
"Now you'll sit next to her all night, hold her hand, and anxiously wait for her to wake up," Max teased making the twins laugh at their older brother's expense.
"I know that's what I'd do," Max added in a low enough voice that he thought no one heard, but Emilia had and hear heart broke a little as she let herself wish that it was for her that Max would suffer sleepless nights filled with worry for.
But that's not how things were meant to be.
Max didn't see her that way, to Max she would always only be his best friend's little sister.
