Chương 2: Arista Dalton
"Been a while. I am fine, how have you been Mr. Robert." Sumire planned to came here today to end her relationship with him. The rumours she heard about him are not simply mindless rumours as her father personally investigated it for her. It says that the young Robert Winston is actually couldn't become a knight so he changed his department to the magic engineering. It's a very simple information but it has a lot of weight. A family like Winston and Red Rose the family that Sumire is hailed are one of the top families of the world. They are the 12 Duke family and also has the most connections with the Royal Family.
All the high ranking members of such families have always become knight or a grand wizard throughout the 1000 years. But never something else. Why is someone so talented selected such a different path? Why can't he become a knight in the first place? This are questions that paparazzi from all over the world started publishing in the news around a year ago. Although the Winston family never publicly gave a statement or they never even bothered talking about it, but it's not like they abandoned him too. They even celebrated his birthday last year by announcing the birthday in the family's own news outlets in their domain and also the official website.
So why? That one question she never fully asked because she herself wanted to be free from this marriage. She wanted to become a great mage. She already became one of the most powerful student in the first year's batch. Although she is nowhere tlnear the 7 strongest princess and the 6 strongest prince title, if she try harder she can top that rank.
This is an unofficial rank system that students use because they feel like the academy ranking system is kind of too much balanced. It's simply ranking by the strongest. The power scaler society are a club dedicated to power scale the students power. Although they never officially publish anything but they just publish them in a way that doesn't create trouble for them.
Anyway Sumire is kinda uncomfortable right now. She planned to give him the letter. If he deny or do not agree with her she will directly say in front of everyone that she's breaking the engagement. It's not humiliation it's simply in a way to stop him rejecting the letter. But right now she's little uncomfortable because she don't know how to act.
"Here compliment of the house. " Robert put down three glasses of cold water and worme towels in front of them.
"The summer is crazy in the Academy since it's middle of the sea. So stay dehydrated all time." Robert gave a slight advice before asking them, "Since you guys are new customers would you like to browse through the menu or should I recommend something."
"I prefer a recommendation"
"I prefer to see the menu."
Claire and Elise gave an immediate reply. Robert looked at them while smiling before pulling out the Menu. "We are a cafe shop so as you can see we mostly sells coffee related drinks, along with the various pastries and sweets. As you are new customers I would recommend you to have the ' Frozen Caramel Latte '. " Robert point out the drink on the menu. The other girls have went to cafe in many places but they never seen a drink like this. They had latte many times in the past but this one has different vibe to it. As even the picture is saying that you will not regret choosing this one.
"Fine. How long it will take? We need to be on our way soon." Sumire replied.
"Don't worry. It will take about 3 minutes." Saying that Robert went inside the back door again.
While he went inside Sumire started to observe her surroundings. The shop is very nice and quiet. The decorations are simple and classic. There are about 3 tables with two chairs each neatly arranged on the side of the long window. While the there are 5 long stool in front of the counter. The counter has a long bar where many jars are neatly arranged and at the end of the bar there is a small magical device. Sumire never seen such a device before so she was a little curious about it.
"Look, look Sumire they even has the cookies that I was wanting to buy in the city 1. I want to order some. Ah! Hello. Miss....". Elise suddenly became exited as she started to look for someone to ask how she could order these.
"Oh. Miss, I am sorry for late delay. What do you need?" The pale skinned demon girl noticed that Elise wanted something so she quickly responded.
"Are you guys really selling this cookies? If you are, can I have some of these."
"Of course. We are selling it. Please wait for a minute." Saying that she went inside and quickly returned.
"I have placed the order. Robert will return shortly. "
'Robert' Sumire asked in her head. Whats the relationship with he has with her? She never heard about a demon girl like her. There's a demon man is listed inside the prince list. And she even saw his pictures since he's a very famous person and the heir of the Diamon Family one of the 12 who has the demon heritage. But she never heard about a famous demon girl.
So out of curiosity Sumire asked her name, "Excuse me Miss. Can I ask you something?"
"Oh. What is it? How can I help you?" The demon girl replied.
"I just want to know about you. What's your name?" Sumire asked.
"Oh. Well my name is Arista Dalton. Nice to meet you. "She replied with a worme smile.
"So you are the owner of this place?" Sumire asked with a surprise. She thought Robert is the owner. But before she could believe it Arista replied, "Oh no. It's not like that. We both own this place. Although Robert wanted to name it with my name. He says that my name has a bit of nice ring so that's all."
Sumire now become really interested and curious what's their relationship. She thought that they had normal employee and owner relationship at first, but now it looks like a partnership relationship. She wanted to ask what's her relationship directly but for some reason she started to become cold feet. ' What am I doing? What's my business in here? I came here to broke off the marriage but why?'
"What's your relationship with the owner? " Elise asked without any restraint.
Sumire and Claire are surprised but they were also interested so they didn't stop her. Arista on the other hand looked at them with curiosity and then replied with a smile, "That's a little too personal question, Miss." Elise quickly regretes her decision as she her face became black. But Arista quickly added, "Tell you what, if you become a regular customer I might share the information with you."
"No it's fine. Sorry for my friend asking such a thing." Sumire quickly intervene.
"No, no. It's okay. You see customer here are all couple's and they tend to ask this type of questions so it's not entirely new for us."
"Oh by the way when is this cafe is opened. " Sumire asked since she was curious to know how long they have been together.
"Let's see, We opened the shop last year December. So it's been about 4 months."
'Only four months! Then the information about him that arrived is before December. Not a lot of people know about Robert and Arista's relationship. If she knew any good qualities of Robert is that he didn't have that many relationship with other women or girl. So how can a girl like her is in his life. So that's why Winston family is hiding something but still protecting him. This girl must have something to do with the Winston family and Robert himself. ' She thought in her head.
"Thank You for waiting " Robert brings out a tray full of cookies and 3 latte. He placed them in front of them very neatly and spoke, "Enjoy the drinks."
They never enjoyed such a pleasant drink. It's completely different then the other they had. The moment it went in their mouth all the tiredness they felt is like disappearing in an instant. Claire is a hard core female knight who always train super hard. She was on the mid session on her training while Sumire dragged her here. But for some reason she feels like her tiredness is gone and she can again do an afternoon training session.
"What's in there? It's amazing. How did you manage to do that?" Questions started to fly from three direction. But Robert is cool and upright. He replied with a simple smile, "Well it's our stores secret. So I can't just share with you widely."
"Ahh! This cookies are super delicious. It's perfectly go with the drink." Elise on the other hand is absorbed in her cookies.
Watching them Robert smiled a little. After them he looked at Sumire and asked, "I know why you are here? I have spoken with my mother and she informed me the situation. Although it might be bad for a girls reputation so I asked my mother to claim that we are simply not completable and support you mostly than me. So you don't have to worry anything."
Hearing that Sumire for some reason became a little silent. It's not like she ever loved him. She was engaged to him out of blue by his father. And after the rumours started to spread his father is the one decided to act. Now that she looked at the whole thing properly she realised that her family is in total wrong, but Winston family never complained. It's like they predicted something and just let us willingly break off the engagement. Now when the man in question is in front of her she's a bit curious about how this man's personality is? But if the engagement is broken then they will become complete strangers again. She for some reason wants to know about them. A deep earge to know the truth.
"Also you don't have to worry over anything. You can come here anytime if you want. Since I am a senior you can ask me and Arista anything. Although I doubt we can help you in combat technique but if it's basic courses you can visit here."
Robert said all this with a smile on his face. Arista also heard everything as she was close by but in here face there is not single ounce of surprise as if she knew all along what's Sumire's purpose of visit here.
After Sumire and her friends left Arista asked him, "You should have told her. Since she will think that it's her fault."
"It will create a needless problem for us. It's fine like this, and you also promised that you will tell them if they become your friends."
Arista simply stood by his side and they hold their hands. It's not much but that simple act indicates a lot of thing. "Don't worry. I promise to protect you matter what."
"I am not worring about me, I am more worried about you since rumours about the shop will spread now."
"Well we opened it for fun so I guess it doesn't matter."
