Chương 2: Job

'Maybe I can use my advantage of coming from a more advanced world and create some coup and fool some noble'

He quickly dismissed that idea. This wasn't a game, if he got caught once he was done, there was no second chance.

I guess I'll have to work anyway.

David sighed.

'The only way to get potion formulas with little to no risk is through the Tarot Club, if I go into a gathering of illegal Beyonders there is a good chance that a normal guy like me will be seriously implicated'

David formulated a plan in his mind.

Before Klein created the Tarot Club he would prepare for the plot and gather information and resources.

In his past life he firmly believed that information is as valuable as gold. Although this world is a little different, his beliefs haven't changed.

He would get a job of some sort and would try to have some side hustles as well.

David just doesn't do any illegal activities because of the midnight church and the night hawks. Even if they don't get involved in the actions of ordinary citizens he definitely doesn't want to deal with their strange powers now, which are especially lethal to non-beyonders.

Having set a goal, David quickly got up picked up the newspaper that was in front of his house and went looking for job offers.

He quickly filtered through the jobs where he could take advantage of his modern knowledge.

[We are hiring tutors to teach our children, must have experience and know how to deal with children, salary to be decided]

David read through several contract proposals and tried to deduce the ones with the best salaries.

'This tutor one would definitely be the easiest however I don't really have knowledge of many things about this world beyond what I remember from the book and my predecessor'

'That one for accountant though, math is the same on all worlds I guess and that kind of job usually pays well'

Having decided on the job, David clipped out the part of the paper with the contract.

'For that kind of job my current clothes probably wouldn't make a good impression'

David thought looking at his clothes, which although not dirty were quite plain.

It consisted of a white shirt with some stripes and basic black pants.

'There's no way I could be a tycoon's accountant in this outfit.

He went to count his remaining savings to calculate the budget for his style revamp.

David went into his room bent down and picked up an old looking box.

',3,6,9...'

'Only 10 pounds of silver?'

That's barely enough to buy a decent suit.

I hope this job will give me a better deal.

He sighed and took the money, putting the now empty box back in its place.

'Now I have to go buy the clothes and take the time to call the place, the sooner I get this money the better'

David thought as he walked out of the house.

His street was what you might expect from a house of a lower-middle income family, although it was a poor neighborhood fortunately it was still as far as possible safe.

Obviously as soon as he got the money he was going to move, this one just didn't fit with an accountant.

2 hours later in a company office, what looked like a job interview was taking place.

"Please take a seat, Mister Robert."

A man sitting in an office chair spoke to the interviewee who was standing.

"Excuse me."

The interviewee said that as he sat down in the chair in front of the interviewer's desk.

"Thank you very much for taking an interest in working for our company. We were very impressed with your resume, such an experienced accountant would add greatly to our company"

"The pleasure is all mine, it would be an honor to work in a company like this"

Said the interviewee who called himself Robert. He was wearing business attire and had a pair of binoculars in his right eye giving him a studious look.

"Well we've pretty much done the phone interview and now all that's left is the final details"

"Coach is hired, I hope you will be with our company for many years, welcome."

The interviewer spoke as he stood up and offered his hand to Robert

"Thank you very much! I will certainly do my best"

He spoke as he stood up and shook the interviewer's hand.

The interviewer and Robert sat down again and now with a more relaxed atmosphere they began to talk.

"Now all that is left is to sign the contract, as discussed before the salary will initially be 800 pounds a year and you can start tomorrow, we are counting on you"

"I'll be here tomorrow, see you then gentleman"

The interviewer said goodbye and left the company and went home.

He first went to his room and changed into a more casual outfit and then went to bed.

After all, it was already 8:00 PM and he had to work tomorrow.

Obviously Robert was David who used a false name to get the job.

'Sigh..., that was tricky. Having to cheat and pretend for so long is exhausting, at least I got the job a year from now I'll probably have the necessary savings'

'If I embezzle just a little bit of the company's revenue hehe, I'll get some fucking money, finally this math will come in handy.'

David thought as he fell asleep.

He was eager to become a Beyonder soon, supernatural powers, strength, that's all he wanted and nothing was going to stand in his way.

He would use every tool. Even if he has to lie, kill, humiliate himself and so on. But he will get there, and one day he will be a god.

That day will not be good for the rest of the world.
