Chương 83: High-Level's Battle Concluded

Time passed as the knights waited for backup, putting their lives on the line each second they waited. The battle between the knights and the magma giants raged on for longer than it should have. After the knights found out their weakness, they cleverly hid behind the buildings and defended themselves.

They dragged the battle out by flanking out and attacking the giants from behind. It didn't deal much damage, but it was enough to distract them. Taking the safety of people in mind, Lonz also sent his knights across the high-level to help evacuate the nobles living there.

Fortunately, even though the high-level was huge and spanned across the city, there were not many nobles who they needed to evacuate. This was because the nobles were less in number compared to the commoners on the mid and low-level. The high level mostly consisted of luxury boutiques and restaurants, theatres and other luxury services for the nobles.

Lonz and the knights had led the three magma giants where the other three were. This way, the damage they did to the high-level could be controlled in a specific area, or so they thought. At the time they had successfully led the magma giants, the other three had already wreaked havoc and destroyed half of the high-level area. After the six magma giants met, they began to attack consecutively, destroying the buildings the knights hid behind and killing some of them.

'Is the backup even arriving...' Lonz clenched his teeth as he signaled the knights on his side to attack. They had already flanked to the back of the giants, with other knights distracting them from the front. Popping out from the sides of the buildings, the knights began attacking the giants with their <Arcane>.

Even though there were six monsters, Lonz and the knights had focused their attacks on only one all this time. The continuous attack had worn the monster's armor, creating gaps that caused damage. With well timed fire balls on the knee, the knights finally brought the monster to it's knee. "Attack!" They used this opportunity to attack it's eyes.

*ROOAAR*

The monster roared in agony when it's eyes were attacked, causing it to fall down even more. 'It's not enough damage...' Lonz's face fell. Then he noticed a knight who had climbed up a building. The knight jumped off the building and latched on to the monster by grabbing it's horn. The monster tried to grab the knight, but he skillfully dodged.

Using the monster's nostrils as support, the knight balanced himself on the monster's face. Clenching his teeth, the knight created two barrier around the flickering flames inside of it's hollow eyes. "GROOOOOOH" The monster began roaring in agony.

Blood vessels of his eyes popped and his nose started bleeding due to the over exertion of his essence, but the knight held on. He slowly closed his open palm, with which the barrier started to shrink in size. *SPLAT* The monster hit the knight with it's hand like a fly.

*Cough* The knight coughed out a mouthful of blood, his internal organs destroyed by the monster's attack. Clenching his bloody teeth, the knight closed the barrier further, which significantly decreased the flames from the monster's eyes. Finally, the barrier shrank completely, extinguishing the flames and revealing two cores of the monster inside of it's eyes.

*BAM*

The monster fell down face first on the ground crushing the knight who was still stuck to it's face on the ground. The knight had a satisfied smile on his face, even in death.

Lonz and his knights watched everything with mixed emotions. They would never forget this moment and the knight who sacrificed himself, but right now they had to focus on defending themselves as the other five magma giants were still fine.

Escaping the monster's sight and hiding behind the buildings once again, Lonz finally let out a sigh of relief. The backup had finally arrived. Marshall Buck Martin and the knights under him had arrived as their backup. As soon as Lonz saw Marshall Buck, he signaled for him to meet him.

Positioning his knights around the buildings, Marshall Buck stealthily arrived next to Lonz. "What's the situation?" He asked as soon as he appeared. Explaining the situation to Buck, he asked him for some insights on how they could defeat the monsters. Smacking his fists together, which let out sparks of azure flame from the black gauntlet covering he was wearing, he smiled with confidence. "Don't worry I'll just beat them into powder."

Shaking his head, Lonz stopped the Marshall and started devising a strategy to defeat the monsters. With the help of Marshall Buck, a Blood level Intermediate Seeker, their newly planned strategy, and the knights who came for backup, the battle with the monsters was finally over, but not without losses.

When the battle finished, the sun was already beginning to set. Lonz was sitting on top of a defeated magma giant catching his breath when Buck approached him. "You did well Lonz" he smacked Lonz on his back, which almost made him fall down to the ground. Lonz steadied himself and looked back at Buck. "Hah... Did I?" He gave a defeated smile before looking at the battlefield. The high-level was in ruins and anywhere they looked on the ground, the dead bodies of knights were visible. "Haah..." He sighed.

Buck was about to console Lonz, but the orange hue of the evening sky turned blood red all of a sudden. Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at the sky above Arcturus. "What's that?" Lonz muttered. Everyone looking up at the sky squinted their eyes to make out the tiny figures on the sky.

They could clearly recognize one of the figures, which was the monstrous Saint of Mayhem. "Who's that?" Everyone had the same question running through their minds as they watched the other figure. As they curiously watched the Saint hold up the other figure with white hair by the neck, they were all blinded in the next moment when suddenly the darkest night they had seen in their lives fell. This night was not violet like usual but pitch black.
