The clans didn't gather immediately. By German's estimate, it would take at least two months for them to gather, and even longer if some had pressing business they had to deal with first.

Until that time, both Cael and Irmilla had a dubious status of either guests or criminals, and each vampire decided for themselves how they treated the two.

Cael, either way, simply didn't have the time to pay attention. He had things to organize, if he wanted to persuade the Council.

Thanks to his previous exploits, he had influence, but it wasn't limitless, either. And it wasn't as easy to persuade people via distance, even if you had a Sending Amulet.

Thus, Cael had to speak with Ginevra.

"I have an important mission that I can trust only to you," he said, holding Ginevra's hand. After a few days of practice, he could even keep his salivation in check while doing so. "Which, I wish, I had someone else to do."
