"Irene, this might come out as a shock to you." Kieran started, still holding her in his arms and fortunately for him, she did not struggle or argue.

"But there is an important truth you must know about you, me, about us."

Irene remained silent. Even though she had an inkling where this conversation was going, she wanted to hear it from the man himself. She wanted the confirmation she so desperately was looking for.

"Irene, do you think this portrait is new?" He looked at the portrait on the wall, his expression softening even more, if possible.

"No. This portrait is old." Irene answered. Although she did not know how old the portrait was, it was old. She knew it. She had seen it even before she entered Rothnia, she had seen it in her dreams, time and again."

"Then, do you know why the person in the portrait resembles you?"
