'Papa, three kobolds are approaching your location. They are walking single file down the tunnel.' Jör said to Viel through their mental connection.
'Ok, Jör. Follow them and when I tell you, incapacitate the one closest to you.' Viel ordered Jör.
When the first Kobold entered the cavern, Hans, who was a Grade C Apostle, chopped its head with one strike. Lux and Diablo killed the second Kobold with no more than two slashes from their swords. After seeing this, the last Kobold tried to turn around and run away, but Jör materialized in front of him and used his skill < Poison Shot >. The Kobold, whose face was full of a poison that was smelting its face was given a "quick" death after Viel thrust his sword through its heart.
While this was happening Ferto was guarding the entrance in case some Kobold heard them and tried to enter the cavern.
Viel instructed Jör to leave and do the same as before.
They thought that maybe they would forget about them. But as Viel knew would happen, a new group of nine Kobold Warriors arrived, and it was being led by a Kobold Leader, a Rank 2 Monster.
"Prepare yourselves." Viel said. "Nine Kobold Warriors and one Kobold Leader are getting closer and closer as we speak."
The dwarfs stand up to get ready to fight, but Viel stopped them.
"If this continues, the next group of Kobolds will be stronger than this one, and so on. We must maintain our strength." Viel explained, making the dwarfs a lot calmer.
"My summons and my brother's will fight them. Don't worry, they are more than enough for it." Viel said, reassuring them.
Viel instructed his Ant Army, which was resting on a side of the cavern, to silently excavate some tunnels in case they needed to run away. They nodded their heads and started working.
Viel and Lux summoned their companions. Their total army amounted to seven skeleton warriors, ten living swords, two skeleton archers, Diablo; a skeleton rider, Ishtar; a skeleton hunter, Indra; a storm elemental, six elementals, Ferto; an arcane protector, and Aurora, who since reaching Rank 3 evolved into a Glacial Knight.
They killed all of the Kobolds effortlessly, but that didn't stop there. After a few hours, dozens of steps could be heard inside the cave. A hundred kobolds were sent to investigate and they were led by a Kobold Mage and four Kobold Leaders.
They fought with all their forces, but nevertheless, thirty kobolds were able to survive.
"We must prepare for the worst." Viel said. "The ones that were able to make it out alive have probably already told the Kobold Chieftain about us. The kobolds are Monsters specialized in mining, so they will try to avoid a frontal attack in this narrow corridor as they know they will lose."
"What are you trying to say?" Hans asked.
"They will dig the walls to fight us directly, leaving us defenseless." Viel replied.
"And what can we do?" asked one of the merchants.
"We shall fight them outside of the Dump Site to fight being prepared." Viel explained. "I will fight in the frontlines accompanied by my brother, Lux, and the rest of the adventurer parties shall aid us as well as defend the merchants in case some monsters are able to trespass our summons."
""Okay!"" All the adventurers shouted together.
...…
After some time, with all the fighters waiting nervously and in silence for the attack, thousands of Kobolds could be heard heading to their position.
In a moment, a kobold appeared along with the war cries from the kobolds as they started to swarm them.
"GO!" Viel shouted.
"Fight!" Lux roared as he activated his Battle Cry skill.
Viel summoned all his companions. Ferto, who has the ability to fight easily against Rank 4 Monsters; Jör, who has the strength of a Rank 1 Monster, but could aid them in battle thanks to his skills; Aurora, Viel's Ant Army Commander who was a Rank 3 Monster with ice-type attacks; Indra, a Storm Elemental able to fuse with Viel; the Ant Army composed of 23 Common Ants, but thanks to Aurora's Commander title they were a formidable force against the Common Kobolds; the Soul-Infused Weapons, eighteen Rank 1 swords Capable of fighting on their own; six Earth Elementals, they were Rank 1 and of the Earth-type due to the elemental particles in the dump site; a Forest Bear summoned with the Bearclaw necklace, and five Rank 1 Grim Reapers he summoned with the Grim Covenant. Lux also summoned his summons with Diablo in the front.
Viel equipped Faithkeeper and threw himself into the fight. As the battle raged inside the dimly lit Kobold's Cave, Viel stood at the forefront, his army of summons and allies by his side. Thousands of Kobolds, led by the Kobold Sorcerer, surged forward with malicious intent.
The clash of steel echoed throughout the cavern as Viel's summoned creatures engaged the Kobold army. Ferto swung his mighty sword, Blood Moon, with precision, cutting through waves of Kobolds with each devastating blow. His strikes stole the life force from his foes, leaving them weakened and bleeding.
Jör coiled around Viel, his eyes gleaming with a malevolent intelligence. With a flick of his tail, Jör unleashed a barrage of venomous attacks, incapacitating several Kobold Fighters with his lethal strikes.
Aurora, the Glacial Knight, commanded Viel's Ant Army with a combination of icy precision and strategic brilliance. The ants, bolstered by their commander's abilities, swarmed the Common Kobolds, overwhelming them with sheer numbers and coordinated attacks.
Indra, the powerful Storm Elemental, fused with Viel, transforming the young hero into a conduit of lightning and water. Crackling bolts of electricity danced around Viel's body as he summoned thunderstorms and unleashed devastating Thunder Strikes upon the Kobold Mages, dispersing their arcane shields and disrupting their spellcasting.
The Soul-Infused Weapons, animated by Viel's magical prowess, fought alongside their master, striking down Kobolds with a blend of supernatural precision and ancient power. The eighteen swords danced through the air, slashing through Kobold's ranks with lethal accuracy. The Earth Elementals, their stony forms pulsating with power, positioned themselves at strategic points, ready to unleash their earth-shattering might.
The Goldenslayer Party, consisting of Colette, Maty, Andy, and Axel, fought alongside Viel, each wielding their unique skills and abilities.
Lux, Viel's brother, summoned a legion of skeletal warriors, and archers to bolster their forces. The skeleton warriors, clad in ancient armor, advanced with unwavering determination, cutting through Kobold Fighters with their razor-sharp blades. Diablo, the skeleton rider, charged through the chaos.
As the battle reached its crescendo, Viel unleashed his own formidable skills. Faithkeeper, his holy fire-infused sword, blazed with righteous fury as he cleaved through the Kobold horde. His Toxic Blood ability poisoned his opponents, weakening their defenses and sapping their strength.
With each strike of his sword, Viel felt his Life Steal ability replenish his own vitality, granting him the endurance to press forward. The combined forces of Viel's army and his allies unleashed a fury of coordinated attacks, cutting a path through the relentless Kobold assault.
Throughout the chaotic clash, Viel's Fury Slashes and Dark Arrows blinded his adversaries, leaving them vulnerable to the onslaught. The Kobold Sorcerer, witnessing the devastation wrought by Viel and his formidable assembly, attempted to conjure a powerful spell, but it was swiftly disrupted by Indra's lightning barrage.
As the dust settled and the last remnants of the Kobold army fell, Viel and his companions stood victorious amidst the battered remains of their enemies. The Kobold's Cave, once a stronghold of darkness, now bore witness to the triumph of light and valor.
"This doesn't end here." Viel said. "We must prepare for the next wave."
But after a long time of waiting, no kobold appeared. When they thought that this has come to an end, they heard steps through the cave.
They prepared for an assault, yet Viel ordered them to cease as he recognized the one coming was not a foe but a friend.
"Big Brothers! Colette! Matty! Axel! Are you guys alright?" Helen shouted as soon as she appeared in the narrow tunnel leading to the Dump Site.
"Have the reinforcements arrived?" Lux asked.
"Un! The Kobold Chieftain came to negotiate with the Commander," Helen answered. "We now have a non-aggression pact with the Kobolds. We can all leave this place safely."
"Are you sure? After all, we have killed more than a thousand Kobolds?" Viel asked unsure of it.
"Yes! They made an oath to the Dragon King so they won't break it." Helen replied.
Viel commanded the Ant Army to collect the Beast Cores scattered in what was a battlefield. Lux did the same with his Skeleton Fighters and Archers.
With the protection of the Warriors of Norria, all of them left the Kobolds Nest safely.
Thoram had sent fifty of his men to accompany Viel, Lux, Colette, and the rest of her party to escort them back to Leaf Village.
Along the way, Nevreal, Viel, and Lux had a private talk. The middle-aged dwarf had directly asked the Half-Elves what kind of reward they wanted for their help in guiding them to the Kobold's Nest and helping them save Robin and the rest of the dwarves.
"I want weapons and armor," Lux stated. "The higher the quality, the better. Of course, if you plan to give me a Mythical Weapon, I will gladly accept it with open arms."
"I want skill books of Rank 3 and above." Lux said.
"I can only give you three Rank 3 or two Rank 4 skill books." Nevreal stated. "I hope you can understand it."
"Ok. I want two Rank 4 skill books of my choosing." Viel replied.
"I will send you a list of the available Rank 4 skill books." Nevreal said.
...…
Vera was sweeping the leaves in front of his house when she sensed two presences in the Training Grounds. She knew who they were, so she continued what she was doing.
After a few minutes, Viel and Lux headed towards her.
"We're back Grandma" Viel said.
"It has been a long time." Lux continued. "We have so much things to tell you."
"You both can do it while eating dinner." Vera said as she hugged her grandsons.
