Arienne Villeneuvue stood on the steps of the hospital, holding onto Nora Berry’s arm. The wind blew gently as she looked over Paris’ buildings, signaling the changing of seasons soon to come.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” she asked Nora, feeling more alive than ever. “And hopefully it’s the last time I ever have to look at it from the hospital’s steps.”
“It is,” Nora said, without looking at the city. “But I think my view is even better.”
Arienne blushed as she looked over to meet her gaze. “That was so cheesy.”
“Yeah, but I mean it.”
The blonde leaned over to kiss her, soft and sweet. Nora kissed her back, and then they made their way down the steps and to the car that was waiting for them.
Arienne couldn’t believe that it was over.
She could hardly believe that Francine Gauthier was gone, or that she’d won her entire fortune in the process.
