Chương 21: Conversation with Lisa

Max stared at Lisa standing in the corridor, and was taken aback.

"Uh, hello."

He greeted awkwardly and asked suspiciously after a pause.

"Where's Lawyer Joe?"

"He's going through the formalities for you, and you're officially released on bail now."

Lisa said.

"Does it mean that I was acquitted?"

"No, not yet, but it's almost the same, because according to the evidence in the hands of Lawyer Joe, you will be able to break away from the identity of the suspect within half a month and you will be completely free . So, to put it in simple words ,"

Lisa stretched out a hand:

"Congratulations, you are free now!"

Max's face was full of obvious joy.

"In fact, if you don't care about his overly malnourished complexion, this guy is quite handsome."

Lisa was stunned by his smile and thought in her heart .

Max gratefully shook Lisa's hand.

"Thank you, thank you very much."

Max said from the heart. He knew very well that without Lisa's cooperation, it wouldn't have been so easy to deal with Clark otherwise.

"There's nothing to thank me for. Actually, all the assumptions and proofs were completed by you alone. In fact , I'm actually curious, how did you do it?"

Max only smiled in response.

Just now, I checked Clark's recent capital changes through the internal channels of the detective group. Lisa said in a serious tone.

Max frowned slightly upon hearing this , but didn't say anything.

Lisa continued .

"Apologize to me? Why are you apologizing?"

Max smiled dumbly.

" Because I am Clark's partner, and for such a long time, I have not been able to find out the truth of the incident."

Max waved his hand, indicating that the other party doesn't need to continue apologizing :

"I don't know how your detective circle works, so you don't need to report anything to me. Besides , good will be rewarded and evil will be punished . Similarly the murderer should be punished. This should be the same no matter which world you are in. You are a detective and this is your duty. Compared with apologizing to me , you have more important things to do now."

Max said, then politely crossed paths with Lisa, and walked towards the gate of the prison.

Lisa froze in place in a daze because she had already imagined countless possibilities in her heart on the way here.

As a person who learnt that the detective who was in charge of his case had something to do with the culprit who framed him. It is impossible for anyone to remain calm. Anger, cursing, hysteria, rage, and even fighting are all possible .

Lisa was already ready to meet the other party's anger. But she never expected that Max would accept it so lightly. And he didn't care about Clark's investigation, the possible final result and punishment at all.

After a few seconds, Lisa woke up from her daze suddenly. She turned her head and saw the receding back of Max who had walked a long way.

She seemed to have thought of something suddenly and turned around.

"Are you a detective too?"

Lisa shouted.

Max stopped for a second then shook his hand, didn't speak, and just like that gradually disappeared at the end of the corridor.

Of course, Lisa didn't hear it. In fact, when Max turned his back to her, he muttered in a very small voice.

"Damn Clark , when I settle down, I will make you beg for death. So just enjoy your time till then."

That's right, Max didn't really forgive Clark . He was not a saint. Revenge must be reported but right now settling down in this new world is his first priority.

In fact, he was very sure that there must be something wrong with that bastard from the beginning.

As for the reason, apart from Clark's subtle attitude towards the case, the most important thing is Clark wasn't trying to solve the case at all. He was just trying to make sure that the case is closed one way or another.

His top priority at the moment is to stabilize first, and then contact Lawyer Joe.

Speaking of Lawyer Joe, that guy must already be suing Clark for compensation money . As far as Clark's matter is in his hands, if Clark is not sucked dry of his wealth , then it is considered that his ancestors have accumulated great virtue.
