Chương 16: The Surprise

With my body stiffened and a flushed face, I couldn't get some sleep.

Dav had refused to let go of me. He had used the excuse that I had not fully forgiven him as a way to allow him to coat me with his body as we lay on the bed. I wasn't a fool to ignore the handwriting on the wall, Dav intended to make me warm up to him until it was time to consummate our marriage.

To make the situation intense, I couldn't move my body away from him, instead, it turned out that whenever I tried that, my behind tends to press against his groin and that was enough for Dav to let out a weird groan.

" Dav," I whispered, but there was no answer from him even when I was more than certain that he was awake, instead, he drew me closer to himself and buried his face on my shoulder.

At some point, I had to think if Dav was in the mood to mate with me and that was the only way he could tell me.

" Wife." He called with his face still buried in my shoulder.

I said nothing but simply nodded my head.

" Vampires don't usually sleep at night and it seemed that you are finding it difficult to sleep, if you like, I would like us to do something engaging tonight." He blurted out.

Good lord, there were many meanings to those words but my mind could only process one. What could be engaging at such late hours?

Maybe, Dav couldn't wait until I was ready.

"It's okay, I feel sleepy." I lied and I knew that he would easily identify that I had lied since my body was so stiff.

As expected, the temperature in the room drastically went below zero. Whatever Dav had planned, it was very clear that he was displeased that it wouldn't hold.

No one said anything to each other as awkwardness filled the air. It was after hours of staring blankly at a plain wall that I was finally able to travel to the land of dreams.

' Something is wrong.' I said to myself.

There was no question that Dav lay beside me but why did his scent become stronger?

To fulfill my curiosity, I slightly opened my eyes, only to receive a great shock. There, I saw a shirtless Dav but that didn't bother me.

The question was, how did I get to have my head placed on top of his chest, with one of my hands around his neck and a leg placed on top of his'?

I had to commend him, Dav was pretty swift, precise, and slow if he was able to do all that without waking me. But that also gave me the chance to have another view of his face. Once again, his scars looked renewed as blood dripped from them, and for a reason, I couldn't bring myself to ask him the reason for those scars.

" Who is doing this to you?" I said as I leaned my hand to the scarred part of his face but before I could poke it, Dav abruptly flew his eyes wide open.

My hands paused in the air as I formed an expression of that of a thief that had been caught in a criminal act.

Without turning his head to face me, Dav moved his eyes in my direction with a wide smile on his face. That simple gesture was enough to disclose that Dav was responsible for the position I found me.

" Good morning, wife." He whispered as he ignored my hand that was still close to his face.

Guilt and shame overtook me, and even if Dav had tried to hide it, I knew that he was displeased that I had tried to touch his face and I was certain that he had heard the question I asked.

" Morning," I said while I retorted my hand.

" Seems my wife dreamt of me, she can't let go of me."

With those words, I realized that my body was still in contact with his. I immediately moved away from him and rushed to the couch.

He gave off a faint chuckle and got off the bed but this time, he didn't approach me, instead, he walked into the closet with that weird smile still on his face.

I knew something was up, that smile doesn't always come randomly, especially when it somewhat looked mischievous.

Innocent and oblivious, I simply sat on the couch like a baby waiting for her mother.

In the next minute, Dav came out of the closet with only a short towel on and another towel in his hand. If he planned to make me fantasize about his body, then it was mission completed.

But Dav ignored my presence and walked into the bathroom.

I didn't want to admit it, but I was disappointed with the way he ignored me.

After what seemed like five minutes, Dav got out of the bathroom. I doubted if he actually took his bath, especially in such a short period of time.

This time, he finally chose to respect my presence as he walked up to me with that evil smirk still on his face.

Surely, he was up to something.

" Come wife, we need to be quick, father dispises lateness." He said as he stretched forth a towel to me.

I needed a second to process what was going on at that moment, I knew that we had plans to leave the house for the castle but I surely did not understand Dav's words.

A half-naked male giving a female a towel to put on meant only one thing.

Good lord…..

" What is that for?" I asked for the sake of all conflict.

His smile widened while he brought himself to sit close to me.

" What else could it mean? I want to bathe with my wife, it would save us time." He said with a poker face.
