"What am I to do with both of you?" The king stared at Allesio intently while I kept my gaze on the Princess in disregard to just concluded behavior.
"I need the girl with me, she is my handmaid," the Princess spoke up. Honestly, at that point, I had no choice, I kept quiet and waited for the king to reply.
"Very well then, what do you suggest I do to the man?" The king asked her, I couldn't believe that he took suggestions from her when he treated her like nothing minutes before.
"Keep him in the palace as well, I may need him from time to time, also he could be assigned to look after my people that you have trapped in a field," Her reply was not a bad one, it was fine if Allesio looked after the Aeradonians as instructed by the King because I knew that they would suffer in the hands of the Tersian knights.
"Alright, follow me," he said to me.
"I'll take you to the Princess's new chamber, make sure it is clean and-
"No my King, aren't there servants in the royal palace, let them do that job, I need her by myself all through," she Interjected and I knew she wanted me to be free from those chores.
"All I want from her is to bring my tea every morning and evening, aside from that nothing else," she added and that cleared my doubt. Princess Agatha changed her attitude toward me and that was a good thing.
"Alright then, my son shall return tonight, a Royal feast shall be made in his honor and you can meet with him there,"
" My king, why do you speak of your son as if I already know him?" She asked and that was the same question I had in my head.
" Because you do," the king responded briskly with a smile.
We left immediately from the rooftop. I believed I was in a dream and was going to wake up soon from that unrealistic world.
Allesio was assigned to look after the Aeradonians with the rest of the Tersian knights, I didn't want him to go, because for some reason I felt safe with him around but there was nothing I could have done.
At least he was going to be with his sister which I believed he was happy for. Next, we were taken to the Princess's new chamber, it looked like the King once had a daughter or maybe he hoped for one which I doubted because of his old age but that room was marvelous.
"It was my daughter's room," he said as if he read my thoughts.
" You had a daughter? Where is she now?" The Princess asked.
"She chose her life, she is still in the palace here but made a huge mistake that got her trapped by the sorceress in the Lion's sculpture outside, there is no hope for her return," he spoke with so much sadness in his voice while I wondered what the prince had done to deserve that kind of death.
"Do you have other children, your Majesty?" The princess inquired and I was glad because all her questions were the same thing I was curious about.
"I do, I am a King after all and what is a King without a lineage, however, all my children had their lives, and they all chose what they wanted to do, one is exploring another kingdom while another chose to hate me, his father and left the palace never to return after his mother's death.
"Of all nine of my children, only the prince and his sister remained with me, everyone choose their path, I am delighted that the day I die, there will be someone to sit on my throne and continue from where I had stopped."
His tale was rather pitiful but I said to myself "He deserves it, he must have been a cruel ruler for his children to have left, leaving just two behind.
"I am sorry to hear about this, my king," the Princess said to him but from what I saw, she said those words less sympathetically.
"Well, I am not sad so let us move on, I'll instruct maids to clean this place up while you settle in. I advise that your handmaid get familiar with everyone, everywhere, and everything in the palace.
"Yes my King, I will do that," it was the first time I said a word since that depressing and incredulous event took place.
"Now let's go, I'll need to introduce you to the queen and my daughter," he said to her.
I was ready to meet other people, I wanted to meet the Princess and know everything in the palace. One thing I knew was that if the Princess wasn't going to take action, then was going to do it.
We walked through the hallway as the king led us to a certain Chamber. It looked like an entire world outside the palace. At first sight, no one would believe that it was a room, one may see it as another house entirely inside the palace.
It had a huge sitting room and a dining compartment, a large vanity by the left with a mirror about the height of a full-grown man, and the width of two doors combined.
Servants were pacing all over the place and they were attending to someone who sat farther into the chamber on an enormous bed.
"It must be the queen," I said to myself and I could not imagine how much the king loved his wife to give her all the things that my eyes saw.
As soon as they set eyes on the king, all the maids that were present in the room vanished within the blink of an eye. I couldn't believe that they feared the King that much.
"What brings my darling husband to see me on this fateful evening? " She stood up from the bed and walked closer to us and that was when I knew that not all wealthy people are beautiful.
