Chương 10: 10

I couldn't believe what I saw," I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me? Or that I was dreaming.

"Sure," I replied, and words could not describe the joy in my heart when he took my right hand, I felt myself shrivel as his left hand went across my waist, and no I almost passed out as his hand touched my back.

I stared into his eyes and our feet moved according to the rhythm, my throat ran dry and I was overjoyed but I had to compose myself to avoid doing something stupid before him since that he had forgiven my mistakes and chose to dance with me.

"Are you okay?" Adriel asked me and I almost couldn't give a response since I was lost in thoughts.

"Yes I'm fine thank you, I must say you dance very well," I remarked, and hoped to hear him say something to keep the dialogue alive.

"Most people believe that knights have no other talent but to play with swords, arrows, and spears on the battlefield. In reality, not every knight dreamed to become one,"

His words were normal but they sounded passionate to my ears, I was gradually going crazy with how it turned out.

"Oh, but I heard you chose to become a knight, did you dream to become one?" I asked to avoid losing touch with that moment without getting the satisfaction I deserved.

"Yes I did choose to become a knight, but that was after the painful experience of watching my father get killed before my very eyes in a war many years back, I managed to escape because I was a rebellious child if I should say. But aside from that, I've always dreamt of becoming a musical performer,"

He narrated that tale that left me heartbroken yet delighted, I imagined listening to him sing to me all day long while I stroke his back or play with his hair by tying them into cute ponytails while he faked being angry, grab me by the hand and kiss me on the cheek before ordering me to untie them.

"I'm sorry to hear this," I managed to say.

"It's not a thing to be sorry for, hope you got the Princess's tea to her on time the other day. And she got what to drink after you spilled it on me?" He asked, and I found it amusing but couldn't laugh as I remembered the frown on his face when that incident took place.

"Oh I'm so sorry about that," I quickly apologized again even though it wasn't necessary.

"As I said, try it one more time and I may break the cup on you, trust me I'm serious about that," He said to me and I looked away in embarrassment.

But looking away was a bad idea because I saw Allesio staring at us from afar and he looked disappointed. I looked away briskly and wished for he floor beneath my feet to open up and take me away.

"What is it?" Adriel questioned when he noticed my strange behavior.

"Nothing," I replied shortly, faked a smile and tried my best to look relaxed.

"I should let you go now, the Princess may require your services soon," He took his hand off me and I felt empty, it felt like my blood had been drained or a part of me had been taken away.

But that was just temporary because I quickly remembered Allesio, getting to dance with Adriel was by accident but it was a dream come true for me, so I thought I could just give a simple explanation and it would be forgotten.

I started searching for him amidst the crowd, there were so many faces that I could not tell where he was, unfortunately, I ran into the worst person I would never had imagined meeting at that moment.

"Sage, it has been forever since I saw you, how are things going with you in the palace since I heard those other girls left as well?".

She was one of the many girls taken to serve the Princess but her sluggish behavior was

unacceptable . And she was a clear description of a chatterbox, and just like a curious child between the ages of four to ten, she asked a lot of questions.

"I've been good Priscilla, but I'm in a hurry," I said to her and turned to leave.

"You act all proud now that you are a good friend to the Princess, I saw the way you spoke to her a few minutes ago and how well both of you related, you have tasted a bit of royalty and now you have become proud,"

I stopped in my track and turned to her in resentment and she reacted with a careless attitude.

I controlled myself and said to her, "Well yeah, isn't that a good thing? At least I'm worth being called royal."

After saying that, I walked away without turning back, I was on a quest to avoid getting myself in another trouble with Samantha so I had no time to deal with her.

I forced my way through the crowd, I saw him from a distance but a guard was speaking to him and I saw a worried expression on both of their faces. He turned in my direction and walked away the moment he saw me.

I did nothing wrong anyways, all I did was promise to dance with him that's all so a single dance with Adriel wasn't a reason for him to treat me like his girlfriend.

I ran after him and hoped to catch up, I wanted to apologize for Samantha's sake but the closer I got the farther he walked away from me until he met with the King and said something disturbing because I saw the King perturbed expression afterward.

"Allesio!" I called him as soon as he left the King, he turned and walked towards me with so much speed that I got worried and wondered what he was about to do.

"Sorry I- " I stammered as he drew near until he grabbed me by the arm and wrapped his hand around my waist, I thought he had come to dance with me but he bent over and whispered.

"Don't act worried when I tell you this, the kingdom is under siege and I need you to get the Princess away from the Prince and meet me immediately by the exit,"
