I shook my head at my own inside joke. Nobody will probably get it here unless I explain a concept so convoluted that it might as well be a story of its own. "Never mind. It's just a stupid joke..."
Feeling my back hit the familiar softness of the makeshift mattress, the pains I've been withholding to myself finally let go as I relaxed into my sheets. Lise knelt down beside me, her face far too obscured by the dark now as she hovered over me like an overprotective hawk.
"You should get some rest," I weakly breathed out. "You guys set up camp outside, right?"
"I'm not leaving you alone," my sister insisted; her body already moving to lie down beside me. "I already got Anna's permission to be with you for the night."
