I mentally breathed a sigh of relief at the statement. Finally, someone with enough common sense is on the other side. It probably helped that her twin was a Nenner for her to realize this simple truth, but it was still a huge win for us to have a Primzahl on our side. Wait... Identical twins, right?
"Sorry for asking this, but how are you a Zahler when Anna is a Nenner?"
Genetically speaking, it was impossible for identical twins to not share the same DNA. Assuming that this magic stuff was genetically passed, twins should be either both Zahlers or Nenners exclusively. My basic medical knowledge demanded an answer.
"Our mother was a Nenner," Mathilde coldly replied, more so than normal. Yikes. "We might not like it, but this is the hand we were dealt with."
Shvt. I guess I struck a nerve. It might not have answered anything, but this was the furthest I'll probably gonna get with this line of questioning.
"Brother, their mother's dead."
