Chương 33: Kono Burger Grand Opening!

Over the course of the past two weeks, Team 7 completed a few D-rank missions from the village. These types of missions practically had no threat to a ninja's life, and it usually consisted of odd jobs like farming and babysitting work.

In their first mission, they had to help a local farmer outside of Konoha. There had been a wild animal eating the crops lately, and they had to find the preparator. If possible, they were to catch or kill it.

This job was straightforward because the animal was just a stupid boar. After sneaking in to eat the crops at night, it was quickly dispatched. It also became a meal for Yasui and the chaps. Yasui even took the opportunity to make a Sweet and Sour Pork dish, using the ingredients that the farmer provided.

When his team tasted it, they wondered if Yasui was planning to become a ninja, or if he was planning to become a cook. Needless to say, his cooking recipes awed even Kakashi.

After that, they went on two extremely boring missions; They had to find cats! The first one was caught after a few days. Although this may seem like a lengthy time, it really wasn't.

Konoha is a large village, and they had to search every inch of it just to find a glimpse of the cat's tail. Their speed of completion was actually above the average time.

The next cat was also a little hard to find, but they eventually managed to find it, similar to the previous cat.

Yasui felt that the village has too many absurd cat problems. He wondered if rich cat ladies just take strays home or something. Otherwise, how would you explain why the cats keep running away? And, how do you explain how the cat ladies keep spending so much money to find their cats?

What irked Yasui the most was the pay that he received after completing the missions. The base pay for their D-rank missions is only 5,000 Ryo. Of course, it had to be considered that part of the total pay was taken by Kakashi and the Village.

However, Yasui didn't like the payment amount at all. If he had become a ninja to make money, he would have shot himself in the head that very instant after receiving the money. Ninja's actually don't make a lot of money unless they are of a higher rank.

It's a good thing that he had other income streams.

Currently, his team is taking a little break, and this also came at the right time for him because he is finally going to have the grand opening of his first fast-food restaurant!

"Yasui, I'm a little nervous." Katsumi held her hands together nervously after seeing the long line of customers outside their fast-food restaurant.

"It'll be fine, Katsumi! Just trust in our product and employees!" Yasui looked back at the whole team of food operators that they had hired and trained.

"That's right, big sis Katsumi!"

"Right! We'll make this day successful!"

The men and women who were hired to work on grills and customer service made fighting fists, saying that they will beat this hectic day!

It has been a long journey to get to where they are. After the preservative compounds were developed, problems arose one after another. One such problem was the stabilization of the supply chains.

The previous supply chains that Ktasumi found kept going against the contract that they made. This gave her a big headache, and she had to come to Yasui to ask for help.

Another problem was that Yasui decided to just develop other menu items before opening. A menu item that he had to develop and create a machine for, is the vanilla ice cream machine.

There were also carbonated drinks and cheap biodegradable wrappers that he had to develop from scratch. All of these kept Katsumi and his Civilian Technology Research Facility extremely busy.

Now–After four years of preparations–they were finally ready to open their fast-food restaurant.

To prepare for this day, Yasui used the time when he was running around the village to promote. He used flyers, speeches, and the power of kids. He would bring out a whole lot of samples that the restaurant made as practice. Kids would get free fries and ice cream, making their taste buds jump around for joy.

He would even find tired workers, handing them free hamburgers that were still hot and fresh! Even ice-cooled carbonated drinks were given to them for free.

This combination of sweet, salty, and scrumptiousness made everyone crave for more.

Over the past few days, all that the village ever spoke about is the fast food restaurant that claims to be serving a delicacy that was fast and convenient.

Katsumi looked at the team that she had assembled over the years, and her nervousness reduced.

She also looked at Yasui–the person who had saved her from a life of misery. She was extremely grateful for all that he had done for her. She wouldn't hesitate to give up her life for him in the future.

Katsumi took a deep breath in and looked at her restaurant's team once more.

"Alright, let's start our Kono Burger's grand opening!!" Katsumi yelled and opened the doors of the restaurant.

[A/N: Kono Burger is an abbreviation of Konoha and Hamburger–GOT IT!? It also yells out THIS BURGER in japanese]

Their restaurant building was medium-sized. However, most of the space is not used for customers to dine in.

The only area where the customer can stay while in the restaurant is in the order lines. In total, there are four order lines, each containing multiple order counters and food-receiving counters.

In addition to the ordering lines, there are also two distinct places in the customer area. Those two places are… the entrance and the exit! There's no place to sit down and eat at all.

Yasui knew that there weren't any automobiles in the Shinobi world, so he had set the restaurant up in a style similar to the olden days of fast food restaurants–similar to stalls.

The customers would enter, buy and pay for their food, instantly get it, and they would leave with their food. Unlike stalls, however, they are working with a volume of food that is never heard of before in the Shinobi world. Not only will their food be extremely delicious, their delivery speed will also be extremely fast.

"I will be nearby in case there are any significant problems," Yasui said to Katsumi and she nodded.

Seeing that the customers were already pouring into the counter in a line, Yasui flickered out of the restaurant and appeared on the roof.

When he saw the line that stretched for tens of blocks, sweat appeared on his face. People of all ages were in the line: Civilians, Shinobis, old people, young people, kids, etc.

He may have gone a little overboard with his promotion, and he hoped that no major problem would arise.
