Chương 59: Chapter 59: Falling in Love
As early as seven in the morning, Paige made her way to the side lounge. There were few guards at the far end of the lake moving round the perimeter. She took a seat and covered her legs with the blanket she used the previous night which was kept on the side stool. The ray from the rising sun formed a golden glow on her skin and the glass door behind her. Taking in the beauty of the beach and the beautiful landscape in front of her, she inhaled softly as the wind blew pushing her fly away hairs to her face.
"The sun is perfect on your skin." She turned in a flash on hearing Simon's voice behind her. In response, she offered him a warm smile. "Coffee?" He asked.
"Yes please." She replied with an outstretched hand. He handed her the second cup of coffee with him and sat down on the other lounge chair beside her.
"How was your night." He asked.
"It was fine thank you. Yours?"
"It was great. I dreamt about you." Simon replied sipping his coffee.
"What!" Paige exclaimed with smiles.
"You heard me Sunflower." Came his response. She looked at him still smiling. Simon was the type of man that speaks his mind without filter. Ask him a question and he will give you an answer in plain sentebces.
"What did you dream of?" She asked him waiting for his unfiltered truth. At least she was sure he was going to tell her the truth.
"You don't want to know and even if you do, I am so not telling you." He replied.
"Funny, cause I also had a dream last night and I dreamt about you or someone I think is you." Paige told him with a mischievous smile. She knew just what to say to get an excited reaction from him.
"What!" Simon exclaimed. "Are you being serious? No, you're just pulling my legs ain't you." He asked with a knowing smile.
"And why would I do that? I am very serious." She replied.
"What did you dream of then?"
"You don't want to know and even if you do, I am so not telling you." She gave him the exact reply.
"Okay, you got me there." He said laughing out loud. "I knew you were trying to pull my legs. I almost belei.........."
"I dreamt that we almost had sex." Paige blurted out interrupting him. Simon was stunned. He dropped his coffee cup on the side table and turned to look at her. The previous night have also been a not so peaceful one for him as the thought of Paige kept flooding his mind and his dreams. The picture of her soft looking and spotless thigh stuck to his head like a glue. It was either a picture of that or her face each time he closed his eyes. This feeling was new to him and he was grateful to himself that he has passed the denial stage when he kept denying that he felt something for her. Now, it was clear as crystal that he might not be able to function perfectly if he ever loss her.
"Well, that makes the two of us." He replied. "Except that in my own case, we did have sex and it felt so real. I almost went mad with anger when I woke up and realized that it was a dream." He said smiling.
Paige smiled back at him. She loved the fact that they could talk about random stuff like sex without feeling absurd or uncomfortable. "Wow, I felt the same way." She said with a cheesy laughter.
"Sunflower." Simon called in a serious tone. "Do you feel the connection between us. I'm gradually going crazy about you. I think about you so much, way more than I think about myself and it's not normal. But, I don't even care. Do you feel any connection at all?" He asked her.
This was the moment Paige have been waiting for. The moment that will define the whole feelings that have been flying around. The whole tension between them and the irresistible attraction. She cleared her throat and looked at him with bright eyes. "I don't think I feel the same way. Whatever you think you're feeling, it's not real. It's just there because we're on each other's faces." She lied comfortably. Lying was the only thing that can stop this madness that was brewing between them.
"You don't feel anything?" Simon asked ignoring her previous words. He couldn't believe what she just said. If she do not feel the same way, what then were they doing in the car yesterday. The hints, the seduction, the charming smiles. Or was he hallucinating? Is he making up things that does not exist. "What about yesterday, In the car?" He asked.
"No, I don't feel anything Simon. Yesterday, we had a moment. If something had happened between us yesterday, it won't change my reply to you right now. We are adults, people have sex all the time. As long as it is consensual, it's not a big deal. Simon was hurt and he couldn't help it. If she is being honest, then this was what it feels like to love someone and they don't love you back. It was too painful. He remembered Melissa and wondered if this is how painful it was for her. Suddenly, the wind felt more chilly and the weather gloomy. Paige kept her gaze glued to the lake while Simon fixed his on her. Just then, Mrs. Newman walked up to them.
"Good morning sir, ma'am." She greeted them. "Breakfast will be ready in fifteen minutes." She told them. "Do you want anything before then? Maybe a glass of fresh juice?" She asked.
"Good morning Mrs. Newman." Paige greeted. "No, I'm fine." She replied. "Simon?" She called with an inquisitive look.
"I'm fine as well. Thank you." He told Mrs. Newman. She bowed and left to continue at the kitchen.
"Breakfast is quite early." Paige said. "I guess I'll need to freshen up then."
"Yes, I guess it's good. We can as well as relax and I can take you to see more of the house. Especially the back and around the lake." Simon replied looking a bit withdrawn.
