Chương 25: Chapter 25: My Brother

"I'm sorry about that. It was an emergency and he didn't have my contact initially." She explained.

"I respect you a lot sunflower. So, I'm going to say this once. If you know you love your job, stick to the fucking rules on the contract you signed or I'll be forced to terminate your employment and have you out of my house. And, don't you dare me. I've done worst." Simon told Paige.

"Wow!" She exclaimed. " This was just a harmless call. We didn't speak for long and I made him call back with my personal line. It's not that deep." She told him.

"Did you hear what I just said?" Simon asked still standing at the door with his hands in his pocket. In response to his question, Paige nodded. "Good." He continued. "Now, get that into your thick skull." He said. Just then, Anna and Emily walked in on them. They stood at the entrance to the drawing room surprised.

"Simon," Paige called him softly. "Remind me later to enroll you in a school for the purpose of acquisition of manners. Also, do something about your multiple personality disorder because one moment you're Simon and this next moment I can't seem to recognize you." She told him before heading back to the dining room to finish her food. She greeted Emily and Anna as she passed them to the dining room.

"It's called discipline. That's the name Miss Paige." Simon called after her. He turned to his family.

"Is everything okay?" Anna asked him.

He ignored her and started heading for the stairs. Sherman approached him. "Would you want a fresh glass of  juice to calm you down sir?" He offered.

"Get the fuck out of my face you moron!" He shouted at poor Sherman who scampered away like a grown puppy. He hit his head on the lamp stand placed on the wall in the process.

"Fool." Simon cursed him loudly as he continued up the stairs. Anna cast a look at Emily who returned the look. Both women were shocked as a result of the event that just unfolded before them. Firstly, She accompanied Emily to her room after which she went to the dinning room to see Paige.

She walked into the dinning room hurriedly and went straight to sit beside Paige. She touched her arm, looked at the maids abd guards who left the room on that account. "Are you okay?" Anna asked Paige.

"Yes." She replied with a dry smile.

"You should learn to ignore my brother. He's just an angry, horny and wannabe lonely man that keeps transferring his aggression to anyone around." She said making Paige laugh.

"You sure know how to cheer someone up with your dark humor." Paige told her.

"Why haven't you gone through your contract with him?" She asked again.

"I have." Paige started. "But, I had no control over what happened. How was I to know that Frankie would call the house line. Besides, he prevented us from exchanging contacts with each other yesterday. Why then is he so mad." Paige complained.

"He did?" She asked surprise.

"Mmmhmmm." Paige replied.

"He's frustrated about a lot of things. Just ignore him. So gist me, bring me up to date darling. What did I miss? What's up with you and Frankie?".

"Well, I might see him this evening." She told her with a giggle.

"Oh really? Frankie is such a nice guy. He had myself and June's back way back in school. I like him. Lovely and kind people like you deserve someone as good as him." Anna told her.

"Anna!" Paige called laughing. "It's just a brunch. Nothing special.

"If you say so. I'll just leave you to finish your food. Nicon will be available to drive you to the venue once you're ready. He is the guest driver and as such your personal driver. Sadly, you've not been using him as you should. Eat plenty." She told Paige and left for her room. As she was leaving the dinning room, she felt way better. She knew Paige was way better now and she was happy about that.

EMILY'S ROOM.

"How do you feel mum? Your daughter kept you away from home without seeking for permission." He said looking at his sister.

"I'm fine baby." Emily replied adjusting her seat. "How are you too?"

"I'm fine mummy." He replied giving the mother a side hug and rubbed her hair.

"What was it about brother? The argument, what was it about?" Anna asked her brother out of curiosity. She can't remember the last time someone spoke to her brother like that and to make matters worst, he was dumfounded and couldn't even say a word about it.

"Your carer doesn't like sticking to the terms of the contract she signed. He said to Emily. "What is so hard in that. She have breached her contract severally. I might as well charge her to court. He complained. Anna stifled a giggle.

"What's funny." Simon threw at her.

"Nothing." She replied trying to no avail to keep a straight face.

"Paige is a very nice girl." Emily started. "If there is something you need or want her to do, you can ask or tell her in a calm and respectful manner. She's not a kid."

"I'll always remember that." He said and gave her a forehead kiss. "How was your little vacay at Anna's?" He asked her.

"Amazing." She replied sarcastically. "Her house is practically empty, her room paintings are dull and lifeless. The decorations bland. In fact, there was no atom of life and warmth. Her place is like a graveyard. Such a house is enough to demoralize anyone that steps a foot into it. What is wrong with your sister." Emily complained.

"She obviously is from another planet and it's very much obvious that she love lifeless and abstract pattern of living." Simon replied the mother.

"Guys...., I'm standing right here. I can hear the both of you and most importantly, I am not complaining about my home. I furnished it to my taste." Anna told them in order to desuade them from further discussing her home.

"Later mum." Simon said standing up. "I need to make a stop at Lakeview. I have some important clients I need to meet up with."

"Will you be home for dinner?" Emily asked.

"I will try." Came Simon's reply as he headed out of the room followed closely behind by his sister, Anna. He stopped at the corridor close to Anna's room and turned to her.

"Why are you following me? Do you plan on becoming a stalker?" He asked her.

"We need to talk . Let's go to my room." She replied and pulled him into her room shutting the door behind them.

"What happened today? While I was out with Emily? Don't give me that crap you told your mother." Anna warned. This made Simon giggle like a kid.

"But that's exactly what happened. Unless you expect me to manufacture a different story altogether just for you. If that should be the case, then I'll need time to think the story through." He said dipping his hands into the Pocket of his short.

"But it was just a simple phone call. Why shout? She didn't even mean to disrespect or disregard you. She had no idea he would call her. Besides, Frankie isn't a total stranger to this family. Is he? He probably just wanted to speak to her. I'm sure he would have called her personal line if he had the number." Anna complained.

"Hmmm," Simon hummed. "Is that why you introduced him to her? For him to get her personal line to keep calling her?" Simon asked.

"Si, I've asked you severally if you like her...."

"I don't." He interrupted her immediately.

"Fine, that's lovely if I must say. Then, you should let her breath. Henceforth, I'll personally ensure that she'll stick to the contract. Stop upsetting her. You should know that Emily love her dearly. So, you seriously need to chill." She cautioned him.

"You should ensure she does. Cause next time, I might end up sacking you as my Lawyer and we both know that you won't want that." Simon said. "Meanwhile, when are you leaving my house. You've overstayed your welcome." He asked Anna.

"Firstly, Si, you can't sack me and you know it. Secondly, I'll be working from home and visiting the office from here when I need to. I want to spend more time with Emily before she leaves." She said.

"You're not welcome." Simon told her with a straight face.

"You should consider carrying me out of my father's house." She replied.

Simon smiled looking at his stubborn sister. She was the only pain in his ass that he can't even trade for anything on this world because she meant a lot to him. And he was always happy to call her sister.

"What?" Anna asked smiling. You don't have a clap back or something else you'd like to say to me?"

"Not really." Simon replied. "Just that it sounded so odd to hear you call him father after so many years. You don't even refer to Emily as mother anymore."

"Si please, now is not the time." She told him and he nodded in agreement.
