Chương 10: Truth

The family dinner is excellent, as we all are having a good time here. Reminiscing all memories and Kather telling my parents what she had been doing after leaving the village with her father.

The atmosphere was just too good… that's kinda making it hard for me to explain my relationship with Kather to my parents at the moment. But I do know that I must tell them no matter what as I want them to know about our relationship.

Telling my relationship with my parents is more complicated than I thought it would be, how do I tell them about it? That's what I wanted to talk to them about. I don't really have a choice in the matter though.

Well let's just start with this, I'm not really sure what to say… I guess I should just be relatively straightforward with them.

"Oh hey mom and dad, I'm dating Kather now." I simply said that to both of them.

They were a bit surprised but then immediately understood with just two looks.

I looked back at my mom who started to smile and nodded lightly. Dad, on the other hand, was kind of surprised still but overall, he smiled and gave me his approval.

I didn't really expect to have such an easy conversation to tell my parents about us. I guess I am the only one putting too much thought into this…I feel relieved now that I had told them about our relationship.

And then my dad decided to ask something else… "Is it serious?" he asked.

"Of course it's serious!" I replied quickly, almost shouting it out.

But then I looked at my mom again who gave me a reassuring smile as she said, "Are you happy?"

"Of course I am happy! Yes, being in a relationship with Kather feels great, yes, we are very close, and even more so when we actually started dating each other now." I said that.

The moment I said those words in front of my parents, I noticed that Kather started to blush a bit. I saw that and somehow seeing her blush made me blush as well. I felt like she had stolen my heart and that it had already left my body before I could even get a hold of it.

So I couldn't help but look up at Kather with a smile because of that feeling.

My parents who witnessed that suddenly ask about our marriage plan and also where they would be living. Also, discuss their future grandchildren already because of this…

Dad then asked another question Kather, "What will your parents think about this? What do they do or say? Are they okay with you forming a relationship with us peasants?"

Upon hearing that question, Kather then said, "My parents don't know anything about us yet. But I'll try to be honest with them… for sure they would understand and accept my relationship with Ceonre."

She seemed calm about this whole thing, I can see how determined she is to do this… And I could also see my parent's reaction to this, they seemed quite concerned about this.

"I see, we just hope that everything will be going fine with your parents, Kather." My dad said.

But it's only natural for them to be concerned about this as I understand it.

For someone like Kather to be marrying a farm boy like me. A commoner, someone who doesn't have much status in this world at all. So it's normal if Kather's parents disapprove of our relationship and my parents are concerned about that.

But even if the chances of Kather's parent's disapproval are quite high, I am going to prove to them that Kather's decision on loving me and choosing me isn't wrong.

So I need to make sure I can make Kather happy, as that was the most important thing in this world… If I am going to be with Kather.

Thinking about how my future could be with Kather, I can't stop smiling while thinking about this. I could feel Kather's gaze on me, she probably saw that.

…

We were finally done eating, Kather had to head back to the camp as there was still stuff that she needed to do.

My parents told me to go with her since it's pretty late already and Kather should have some company along the way. Which I had to do even though I know Kather will be fine even if she was alone. Since she's pretty strong compared to me.

But I guess it's fine because this way I could at least spends some time with Kather.

When we were finally heading back, we talked about random things and I couldn't help but wonder why Kather was so quiet… She seems like she wants to say something to me. I was waiting for her to say something, but she never did.

I noticed that she was looking down at her feet, which was unusual for her.

"Hey, Kather, are you alright?" I asked her.

She looked up at me and smiled softly, "Yeah, I'm fine."

"You seem a little off. Is there something bothering you?" I ask her that question because she seems different all of the sudden.

Her eyes become sad for a second, I've seen her looking sad before. I mean we all have but usually, this is when she's thinking about something. And I was a bit curious about the reason why…

She stayed silent for a second and then started speaking, "It's just, I don't really want to talk about this. We can talk about it tomorrow."

"Okay," I agree with her. It seems like she wants to avoid talking about this topic.

I do not want to push this topic further, so I decided to drop the subject for now.

As we keep walking forward, my curiosity keeps growing. I tried to think of what happened that made Kather feel like that but I still can't find the answer for that.

Because it was really unusual for Kather not to say anything after something like that… I mean, it seems like she has a lot of feelings that she's hiding from me…

But I trust her, I believe that she has a good reason to hide it
