It has been difficult, but Xiang Ya and Lu Gao have finally reached it— this is the closest they can get to the 1st stage, the Martial Tempering realm.
After the two reached the required level for class advancement, the two conferred to Nee Chen about his experience.
"It is easy, just swing a sword a thousand times, and you are done. Well, that's for the Warrior class. I don't know about the other classes though..." He jovially explained, a smile plastered on his face.
A thousand swings might sound easy just by hearing from Nee Chen how he breezed it all the way. Xiang Ya and Lu Gao though are not disillusioned enough that they would be able to swing a sword a thousand times with such carefreeness.
Since the class advancement is a solo quest, the two decided to briefly separate ways to accomplish the trials of their class advancement.
Xiang Ya deliberated on what class she should choose. She doesn't know what it is like to reach the Martial Tempering realm. Aside from curiosity, she felt scared.
Nee Chen who only achieved the 1st stage through a stroke of luck has no idea how to express it. So is the bunny who can't even talk. Xiang Ya who has no idea how to cultivate and doesn't have any talent for sensing qi can only rely on the system.
She is not wrong to think that as reaching the 1st stage and accomplishing the class advancement set by the system are after all two entirely different matters.
"I should trust the system. With the system, gaining power is already an inevitability to me at this point. Once I gain power, I will make sure to inflict my revenge on those who deserve it."
Xiang Ya remembered that dreadful day, her grandfather, and her village. Her beautiful memories are tainted by an ugly tragedy. She had sworn to take revenge since then.
Now that the demonic cultivator responsible for her pain is dead, there is only the Bones Devouring Sect for her to vent her anger and exact her vengeance.
"Zha Dong of the Bones Devouring Sect." Xiang Ya whispered under her breath, rage silently throbbing in her heart.
She remembers the demonic cultivator calling to Nee Chen while she was semi-conscious. Though it wasn't directed at her, she remembered well.
"Bones Devouring Sect." The name of the sect the demonic cultivator was affiliated with is engraved into her mind.
With a thought, she chose her class… chose her path.
[Healer— a class that specializes in restorative martial spells. Arts: Barrier|Heal]
Restorative martial spells, she has an idea as to what they are since her grandfather was a cultivator himself. Though their village has unwelcoming opinions of cultivators, she grew to hear heroic stories about them.
Their village is not anti-cultivator or something, they are just exaggeratedly reserved in front of a cultivator, that's all. After all, cultivators can also be good people. They fight monstrous beasts and keep the wicked cultivators in check.
The problem in the current cultivation world is that… there are just too much wicked cultivators. In fact, there is not a day when Xiang Ya doesn't hear of their evil deeds when she was still an ordinary villager.

Xiang Ya has gone pale at the sight of her quest's completion requirements.
"Sh-should I choose something else?"
Fear gripped her heart. Though as a player with the system's powers, she can be considered a semi-immortal thanks to the resurrections; the pain of death is still too much.
As living creatures, death is something we desire to prevent.
Xiang Ya asked herself, "Why healer?" Does it really have to be a healer?
It wasn't a random thought. Not even as something as romantic and superfluous as wanting to protect Nee Chen and Lu Gao as they take their revenge.
In Fact, she would love to do it alone, very and selfishly enjoys doing it alone.
"I... I can't have them dying on me… Yes, that was it. I will not have them die an easy death!" In her mind, Xiang Ya imagined a horrible death by not dying.
[Bleed 8 liters of blood and survive 0/8L]
The pain she'll need to endure is a small price to pay. With restorative arts, She will be able to preserve her foes while methodologically breaking them. Xiang Ya can almost hear the pained screams of her victims from the far future.
Xiang Ya decisively cuts her wrist as she calmly seat by the riverside. She dipped her hands in the cold river water easing the pain in her wrist. There was a manic smile on her face as she recalls the death of her grandfather… her fellow villagers… and her heart…
She's not sure how many 8 liters of blood amounts to being an uneducated villager who only knows how to help on the farm, take care of the house, and act pretty.
It doesn't matter to her though. She'll only have to see. If it works, then fine. If it doesn't then she can just try again.
"I will punish them."
The river got dyed red as the full moon above illuminates the strangely beautiful scene. Unbeknownst to Xiang Ya, nightfall has surreptitiously sneaked on her.
Cold sweat, faint breaths, pale skin, and sleepy eyes… She felt death slowly creeping and the gloomy darkness embracing her.
Xiang Ya's very lifeblood leaked from her existence, as gradually, she felt her qi soundlessly pulse in her veins. It was a mystical experience as qi gathers near her navel and bit by bit— formed her Dantian, a rigid circle of mysterious energy.
Ping!
It was small, almost faint, but it is real. Drawing from this Dantian, vigor steadily returned to her.

"Hehe.. hehehe… HAhahAHHAhHHAHAHAhaAHAHAH!" Xiang Ya arched her back as she crazily cackles. No one to see her madness, she basked at her small achievement as she bathes in the blood-dyed river in a celebratory mood.
Knowledge about restorative martial spells streamed in her mind as her understanding of life, blood, and qi solidify in her class.
[Name: Xiang Ya (Lady Luck) | Class: Healer | Level 11 (1st stage—Martial Tempering)]
"Lookie, lookie… What do we have here? Looks like a peeping stranger?"
Smelling the blood from a mile away, a hungry beast found its way to the riverside.
"A lone wolf? You looked thin. Pity, here… Take a bite."
Xiang Ya raised her bleeding wrist, taunting the wolf to take a bite. With its raw beastly instincts triggered by its hunger, the hungry wolf lunged and dug its gnarly fangs at Xiang Ya's thin wrist.
"Caught you," with a sadistic smile, "how about we go for a swim?" she sank the wolf underwater as she cast Barrier on top of it, mercilessly drowning the beast below.
Casting Heal at herself over and over again to preserve her vitality, Xiang Ya never let go of the wolf.
Until.

The wolf drowned to death.
…
Lu Gao woke up with dark bags under his eyes. The Desolate Mountain has lots of caves for him to sleep in, but each and every one of them isn't in any way comfortable to sleep in.
But that's not really the reason why he is suffering from his lack of sleep.

It was because of his damn class advancement quest! It is torturing him!
"Awww! FUCK! If this continues, I'll have to change my class advancement!"
For a kid like him, meditation is way beyond his capabilities. Is it like sleeping? Breathing? Thinking? Just exactly what? Lu Gao can't even stay still for a minute!
"Is this it? Should I do Warrior or Rogue instead?"
But.
Lu Gao is too reluctant to give up Mage. He can feel it. The class is calling him.
[Mage— a class that specializes in combative martial spells. Arts: Force|Bind]
Taking a class, choosing a path, and losing your virginity is a once in a lifetime. This class advancement right now, once steps are made, returning will be impossible. Lu Gao at least knows this.
"Oooh shit, what should I do?"
At that moment, Lu Gao can only think of extreme measures. To achieve calm and emptiness, Lu Gao uses his creativity to interpret the act of meditation itself.
"Hmmm... I think I have a workaround for this, I hope this works..."
Lu Gao walks into a cliff, not a care for his own life... he jumped.
…
"What are you doing??"
"Game Master, can you help me achieve a near-death experience?"
I don't know what to say anymore. Lately, my players are becoming crazier by the day. You brat! You want me to put you into a near-death state!? Have you no pity on this old man? Do you know the degree of psychological burden that would leave me?
"Get out."
I calmly usher Lu Gao out afraid that I might really put him into a near-death state.
