Chương 13: The mindscape

As Chris stares at rook, rook says "follow me I'll show you around" as he heads down the stairs. "So here on the first floor is me and the other pathfinder operators you would have seen their rooms on the way here" heading back upstairs to the 3rd floor "here you got the first years" as he says that echo walks out of his room talking on the phone with another operator " listen grace (dokkebie) just because we used to date doesn't mean you can just hack into my drones at any time," he says as he hangs up the phone "who's that," asks echo as he looks at Chris "well we should know him the best we live in his mind," says Julien (rook) "so that's him huh he finnaly answered the call," says Masaru (echo) "well I got to head up to grace she keeps hacking into them when she's drunk and blasting me with sonic waves," he says as he starts heading upstairs. Following after him Chris and Julien watch as echo slides one of his drones under dokkebies door and not soon after she burst out of her room her hair a mess "you asshole" she screams in Korean as she shoots at him with her gun missing the shots she throws her gun at him "so he here" she says as she composes herself "your the one who trapped us here in this infinite apartment complex" "what do you mean" asks Chris with a confused look "oh ya we can't leave this place" says Julien "the first who tried kinda got incinerated and kinda like respawned in the front office"

"What!" Chris says with surprise "I didn't know I swear" "it's fine we can't die even if we kill each other so we have war games every once in a while" Julien says with a slight smile as echo is arguing with dokkebie in the background "so anyway onto the 3rd floor is the year 3s" and so on and so forth all the way up to the top floor of year 7.

"so that's all of them," says Julien as he heads back downstairs. Following him, Chris hears an alarm blare as rook starts to panic "well shit it seems we took too long we need to get back to my room quickly" he says as they start running down the stairs making it to the first floor they see castles door boarded up with a castle wall and in the hallway was a twitch drone watching them "quickly this way" rook says as he opens his door "put this on" he says as he passes him body armor "what gun you like" he says as he presses a button on his wall opening a gun wall on the other side of the room " I'll take a Spear .308" Chris says as he sticks his hand in his pocket and pulls out a doc stim "so what's this about rook" Chris says as he starts to armor up "remember those war games ya it's happing now" rook says as they breach the door "follow me and we might survive although if you can find a way to get yourself out of this place do it because we don't want you dying in your own mind we don't know what could happen" "ok I'm trying to get out but I don't know how" Chris says as he starts to worry.

meanwhile in the real world

"hey Chris I'm home," Charles says as he walks through the door "Chris you there?" Seeing Chris meditating on the couch Charles just thinks to himself "man at least he isn't out killing criminals" as he starts to make dinner.

With Chris

Chris and rook are running towards the rec room on the second floor to try and find a place to make a base when suddenly the smell of nachos filled the air "what's with the nachos" asks Chris as he takes cover for a laser shot by zeros camera "we are in your mind if you're smelling it in real life we can as well same with the tv in our rooms they each let us hear and see what you're doing, let me tell you, you have some fans and haters" rook says as he kills Oryx that just busted through the wall.

20 minutes later

the fight had mainly come to an end with the remaining survivors being zero, Flores, rook, Chris, nook, solis, maverick, and montage. With the 7 people left nook and zero decided to 1v1 each other with zero coming out on top by putting a bullet right in between her eyes with montage sitting in a corner with his shield up trying not to draw attention to themselves, Chris and rook take out solis with a well-placed wall bang by rook after she was seen through a bullet hole, as Flores sends out an explosive drone towards montage he is shot in the head by maverick and with montage having to move because of the drone zero was able to shoot him in the spine through the wall with his cameras providing support.

With 15 minutes left on the clock, Chris and rook decided to bunker down and just wait for zero to come towards them shooting any cameras they see well being in perfect condition due to the doc stim shot. As zero ran out of cameras he started to move in he quickly runs by the door and hides behind a hard wall as rook points out what just happened to Chris. As zero starts to run around the little base that rook and Chris had built, he is suddenly shot in the knee by maverick who was hidden behind his own reinforced walls quickly tries to hide zero is shot in the head killing him.

Hearing the gunshots go off Chris decides to push out towards the noise as he runs down the hallway he sees a suspicious reinforced wall seeing the holes in the bottom he quickly chucks a grenade through the hole unknowingly killing maverick. As he finds the door to the room with the reinforced walls he peeks in and finds the pieces of maverick on the floor.

As Chris meets back up with rook they start talking "well it's just us left" Chris says as he reloads his gun "yep we did it won and I can't kill you so you have to kill me" rook says as he drops his gun "well nothing personal" Chris says as he pulls out his pistol "I'll try to make it quick" Chris says as he aims and fires at rooks head.
