Chương 16: Chapter 15: A perfect impression 2

Olivia..." Molly said and as soon as she saw Robert she froze.

"You didn't tell me you had friends, hey Josaphine you came" Molly said and almost immediately Josaphine followed her to the kitchen.

"So what's the plan" Robert asked as Dave pulled them closer.

"Here's the plan, we act nice and mature, I want the two of you to make a good impression please" Olivia asked.

"Wow" Dave said as he inspected her house further.

"What?"

"I feel weird to just walking in your house without using the windows, it just feels weird"

"You or the ladder" Olivia asked.

"Both" Robert certified and hoped Dave wouldn't bully him for it but Dave just laughed at the silly remark.

They all walked over to the dinner table and joined the others.

As they got there Olivia's mom asked them all to bow their heads and asked Dave to lead them in prayer.

Dave looked over at Olivia surprised by the sudden turn of events but nonetheless prayed.

He copied the prayer points he heard from the priest in Church recite months ago.

"Thank you for gathering us here today, thank you for the gift of life, thank you for the things you have done both seen and unseen....

The prayer went on and on and Olivia couldn't help but feel impressed, she didn't expect him actually pray and certainly didn't expect him to be so good at it.

The prayer went on and on until Dave concluded with a smug look

"I pray father that you keep us in the land of the living and I hope we won't face sudden disappearance again " he said as he looked at Olivia who looked slightly annoyed but for some reason she felt pleased. Robert on the other hand chuckled quietly as he looked at the slightly annoyed Olivia.

"Did I say anything wrong?" Dave asked innocently.

"No" Olivia said as she looked at the vegetables her mom prepared.

"Wow she literally took my lie seriously" she said silently.

Dinner wasn't as fancy as she hoped it'll be but seeing everyone laugh from time to time was worth it. Dave talked to her parents and for some reason they all seem casually happy to welcome his comments they even laughed from time to time, Josaphine and Robert were occupied with her step sister and for some reason she felt jealous for the attention she was getting.

Things were smooth until she heard her mom ask Dave something.

"So how are your parents, I bet they miss you by now, I've heard a lot about the Rolterdore's some say they value their kids than their wealth is it true" As she finished her sentence there was total silence in the room.

Oh no! she felt Dave's hands shaking beneath the table and for some reason he seemed annoyed.

"It's a lie, well part true but mostly false, they only care about their fame and business they rarely have time for us" Dave said as streams of tears followed his hard confession.

Olivia's mom walked over to Dave and for a minute Robert was confused. The bully who made his life a living hell was actually a soft and misunderstood hardgoing teen. Interesting.

"They never know what's wrong with me or Josaphine and sometimes I just want to see them" Dave said as he yelled and cried at the same time. Josaphine knew her brother was hurt more than she was but she didn't understand how he was broken beyond repair.

Josaphine dragged Olivia to the kitchen where she hoped no one could hear her and explained everything to Olivia.

"He was a nice guy really but after my parents breakthrough he changed and it took a troll on his health. One time he was given an award at school but my parents never attended, they called him a disappointment, they rarely were they for him and I think that's why he's a bully, to vent his anger out on other people" Josaphine explained and for the first time Olivia felt bad for him.

"If he's truly was going through depression why didn't tell anyone but you" Olivia asked.

"It's because of last time, he tried opening up to his friend but after he found out that he was after his money he beat him into coma, he was sent to therapy after that and I think he still attends it till this day, you see the problem is that his afraid to open up so he just acts tough and hardgoing but honestly he's just soft, he trusts no one except me and sometimes the friends he just made" she said as she pointed at Olivia.

Olivia looked surprised and her body language showed everything. Dave attended therapy not because he wanted to but because he had to he wasn't a bully he was just a little boy with big family issues.
