Chương 48: Negotiations
After hearing Max cursing and kicking the ground and shooting a few pyroblast at the wall that was blocked by the formation. After a few more moments Graham asked again: "Are you ready to talk?"
Max sighed after a short feat of rage and said: "Alright."
"What do you want?" Graham asked.
"I want you to kill those guys. The more the better." Max said.
"It is impossible." The mage commander said with a sigh.
"It is possible. Just shoot a couple of fireballs at those guys. It will be better if the first one will go towards that commander beside you. He hit me with a fireball. I want equality. I'm for equality." Max said with a smile that was terrifying for those people. The smile of a madman.
Graham sighed. Why did he even have to speak with this crazy guy? He did not know even what to do. They seemed to be in a stalemate. He did not want to fight this guy. He did not want to stay here and defend those retards that brought the calamity towards themselves because of greed. He was not happy being a nanny for those countries. Wiping their stinky asses all the time.
Suddenly Max asked: "Can you tell me what are the names of the countries that attacked the Manchester city?"
Graham sighed again and said: "It is a well known fact right now. It were the Valeria and Eldoria countries. You chased those guys to the capital of the Valeria country, Valler and you don't even know who attacked?" Graham was bewildered. It this guy ok? What the hell is wrong with him?
Max said: "Well I was busy killing those pieces of shit. If you would not come I would enter the city in a few more days and have a good talk with those guys. Hehe. So Valeria and Eldoria countries you say. Alright. I will not forget those names. Remember that those countries will be my mortal enemies. I got the point that I still can't destroy them by myself. I will just need a little more time to groom good apprentices in Alexander's country and you will all die. In a lot of pain. You don't need to worry about that. I will assure you that it is me or your countries."
Graham felt a headache incoming. He was not happy at all. He thought for a moment and said to the commander of the Valeria country: "Maybe you have some way to make this guy calm down? It does not seem like he is joking. I don't know what about you but even I would not want to have such enemy."
Vic, the commander of Valeria said after touching his bald head in contemplation: "Maybe he needs some subordinates? I have no idea what this crazy guy may need. We have a lot of good slaves. He can take the slave together with a contract."
'What a horrible idea.' Graham thought.
"Lets give it a try." He said to Vic in the end. After coughing a couple of times, he said: "The higher ups of the Valeria country offer you to take a high-level slave or slaves that are hard to come by if you are interested. It is their attempt to improve the relationship between you and the Valeria country. With the slave contract you will have a full control over those slaves you choose."
When Max heard it he wanted to decline first. What a stupid idea for those guys to give him slaves. After his first reflex to say no he gave it a few more seconds of consideration and after not seeing any cons he answered: "Alright. Let me see if you can change my mind."
Of course Max and the other side knew that he will likely will not change his mind. This little chance was a win, win situation for both sides.
Graham was not surprised by the reply. 'Always taking free stuff when people give you some. Maybe you will find something good.' That was what he was thinking as well.
"Alright." Graham said to Max and nodded to Vic.
Vic was not really happy, but he quickly went to organize the slaves to show for Max. After getting a promise from Max that he will not attack the gates of the city opened and Graham, Vic and the slaves came out. One of the gates crumbled and fell apart while the soldiers were opening it, and it crushed a few soldiers to death. Now half of the gate of the capital was open. After the crash there was silence for a few seconds.
"..."
After a pause Max said with a sigh: "It doesn't matter anymore. I can't breach the city alone so don't worry. I take a slave or two and leave. Next time I'll come we will see if you can stop me."
When Vic and Graham heard this, they both breathed in relief. They thought that this crazy guy will go on a rampage, and they will need to fight a hard battle. Max had this thought too. But then he saw that they had a few mages here and he could die if he will be careless. He was not suicidal.
Vic brought a big number of different slaves. He started to explain to Max about every one of them. Max was not really listening. This guy could say that they are all great and everything, but he believed his inspection ability more. That was the first time he saw different races other than humans. He saw elfs, beastman, and other races he did not recognize. Most of those people were not even on the level of knight apprentices. Some of them had talent but Max could know only if they had talent or not with his inspection skill. He did not know the level of the talent without a better test at the gaming club. Soon he stopped in the middle of the slave row near a pretty young woman. He even blinked twice to be sure he did not see wrong. After that he asked Vic that also stopped after he saw that Max did not continue walking with him: "Who is she? Can you repeat what you said about her?"
What Max saw surprised him:
Name: Valeria. Age:20. Level one knight. There is talent for the knight path. There is no talent for the magic path.
