Rebecca gazed at the statue with an intense look.
"As you read on the plaque, his name is Kyros and people believe he was a legendary gladiator who remained undefeated for 3000 battles. But the strange thing is…no one really remembers him."
"That is odd." Added Vivi.
"I think, maybe he never existed and is just meant to be an example for future gladiators to follow. That is the only reason I can think for him to have a bronze statue in this place, but…"
"But?" Vivi noticed the intense glare of Rebecca while looking at the statue.
"I don't know, is hard to explain…but when I look at this statue, I feel like I knew that man…I don't understand it myself but I like looking at this statue." Rebecca smiled.
"Yo!, Great warrior Rebecca. You are in luck today. Your great bully, Spartan, is unable to.compete."
"Yes, maybe this time you will make it to the second round, Hohoho."
Two of the men started to smirk at Rebecca.
"Who are those idiots?" Vivi noticed it was the same two who were making comments about them before.
"Don't mind them…they are veteran competitors but always have a nasty attitude."
Rebecca closed her eyes and seemed to be focusing on something.
"This is my last time… I must win that devil fruit. With that power…I will be able to kill that man."
She said softly but Vivi was able to hear her words.
"You don't even know what the fruit does," Vivi warned.
"Experts have analyzed it and concluded with certainty that it must be Logia. The only thing unclear is which natural element belongs to. But it does t matter. With the power of the strongest devil fruit…"
"You want to kill Doflamingo that badly huh?" Vivi asked.
"What?!, how do you know?." Rebecca looked around to make sure no one heard Vivi's words.
"Don't worry about that. What block are you on?." Asked Vivi.
"I'm in block D."
"Well, I'm in C. Looks like we won't be fighting each other right off the bat. I hope you make it to the next round. Then we can talk more. " Vivi told Rebeca before walking out.
A wave of cheers could be heard from the outside.
A few people came running into the room.
"The battle of the block A is already over!" one of them said.
"What?!, already? it had just started!" The men were in shock.
"Who is the winner?" Someone asked.
"A huge guy who entered as Mr.Store."
The loud voice of the announcer was then heard.
"Oh! he took off his mask!. A disturbing reveal. The winner of block A, battle royale is no other than Jesus Burguess, first fleet Captain of the uncrowned Emperor, Blackbeard!"
The reactions in the room were varied. Some looked terrified at the idea of facing an Emperor's crewmate while others seemed excited by the challenge.
'That one is going to be a troublesome one.' She thought.
"Next is block B!" Shouted the announcer.
"Participants of block B, follow me please." One of the male attendants started to call.
"Seems like I will have to wait for a bit…" Vivi sighed.
'I wonder if my crew is already on the island.'
She hasn't had the chance to scan the entire island since she escaped the castle. Pushing her observation haki that far requires her to make use of her 'God' power, and always comes with the side effect of making her eyes shine brightly. That calls for too much attention to do in a public place.
'Wait, I can at least scan the arena.'
She focused on filtering all the information she was receiving as there were a lot of people in this particular location at the moment. She centered her attention on familiar auras but was unable to perceive any.
'I guess without the fire Logia, Luffy had no reason to come here. And instead, they are focusing their attention on finding me and Doflamingo.'
She felt somewhat guilty for making her friends worry but she could not let this fruit fall on the hands of anyone. And especially knowing that someone from the Blackbeard crew is here.
'I rather not think about that man acquiring the lighting Logia…too dangerous. I cannot allow that to happen.'
Vivi decided to walk towards one of the balconies and watch the B block fight from there.
"The last contestant of block B. This man only arrived at the New Wolrd just a year ago but has become incredibly infamous since then. The incomparably cruel, 'Crazy Rockie', grilled pirates alive, he bombed civilians, the man everyone wants gone, the pirate…Bartolomeo!" The announcer hyped it up.
The audience started to boo him immediately.
"Go away!"
"I hope you lose!"
Angry shouts could be heard coming from all around the stands.
"You can all go to Hell!" Bartholomew shouted before throwing a small round object at the grades.
"noo!"
"a bomb!"
"run!"
"Get out of my way!"
The audience started to panic and run as fast as they could from the spot where the object landed.
Everyone waited for an explosion but it never came.
"wait… that's just a rubber ball." someone pointed out.
"You bastard!" the announcer screamed with rage, and the audience soon joined.
After the noise died down a bit, the announcer spoke again.
"Very well. The battle royale between 138 people in block B will start…"
A loud going resounded loudly.
"NOW!"
