"Stop!"
Guillermo stepped on the brake at Rick's words, he looked around nervously, thinking he had stepped into some kind of danger he hadn't noticed.
"Right, upstairs there are survivors." Rick pointed to a small building in the front, motioning to move toward that location, while Guillermo exhaled secretly, he thought there was some kind of sneak attack.... Soon the car slowed down. Rick took the lead and with his rifle in hand got out of the car, he observed the situation on the second floor of that building more carefully.
Morgan also got out of the car quietly, stood next to Rick and asked, "Are you sure there are survivors here?"
Rick pointed to the second floor window and said with certainty, "They're upstairs. I saw a little girl in a white dress."
Morgan looked around, and in front of him was a three-story building made of red brick, the windows were surrounded by white wooden frames, and there was a large tree next to the entrance on the second floor, blocking half of the building. The tree trunk was next to the entrance of the small building. After the three approached the same yellowish-white door, they discovered that the door was only closed and not locked. The two entered through the door lightly.
When Guillermo heard Rick's words, he shuddered for no reason, he always felt that this scene was a little familiar, the girl at the window! Isn't this a classic shot in ghost movies?
But this thought simply passed through his agitated mind, and then Guillermo drew the gun at his waist and followed the figures of the two brave men ahead of him.
At this moment, the sun was still covered by clouds, and the weak sunlight shone through the windows, making the room look very dark. At first, Rick thought that the three apartments here belonged to the same family, but he didn't expect to discover that upon entering the place it belonged to two different households.
"Be careful of the doors!"
"Yes!"
Rick was the first to climb the stairs leading to the second floor, holding his Colt python. However, after climbing to the second floor, Rick was sure that there was definitely someone here.
There were traces of human activity everywhere, and there was still a pile of trash piled up in the hallway, indicating that Morgan and the two should be watching both sides of the door. Rick leaned over to check the trash bag, and it was indeed freshly ejected from the room.
He couldn't be sure of the situation in the house, but since the other party had small children, they should be living here as a family and the danger should be relatively low.
Boom boom boom!
Rick finally decided to use the simplest and most direct method! Knock on the door!
Both Morgan and Guillermo squeezed their guns tightly, listening for movement in the room. Soon there was a response from the room, and a faint female voice rang out, with a hint of anxiety and curiosity in her tone.
"Who are you?"
Rick knew the other party should have seen him through the door, took half a step back, pointed to the police badge on his chest, and said, "Look! My name is Rick Grimes! Yes, the sheriff of King County Atlanta, I just passed by the stairs and saw a little girl, so I thought there were survivors here, so I went upstairs to check!"
The woman in the room was silent for a moment, and then the door slowly opened. It opened and a slender woman in her early thirties appeared behind the door. She still eyed Rick with some caution and looked at the gun in Rick's hand, but continued to ask, "King County? Why did the police show up here?"
Rick noticed the other party's eyes, put the gun in the holster at his waist and then shook his head helplessly, "Madam, the whole system of order is down now, and I'm no longer officially a cop. Now all of us, including you, are survivors."
Just as Rick finished speaking, a young girl with long hair came running out beside the woman. The girl was very beautiful, with long, straight dark hair casually spread over her shoulders, she was holding a gun in her hand, and the barrel of the gun was in front of Rick directly at this moment, and her eyes were fixed on him.
"Don't move!"
Rick didn't move. He shook his head slightly to signal Morgan and Guillermo not to act rashly, then slowly raised his hand and slowly said, "I told you, I'm a man who still tries to be good to people!"
The girl looked at Rick and then said, "You can lie to my sister, but you can't lie to me, I'm telling you, I'm the Atlanta City Police!"
Rick shook his head a little amused and said, " No, you're not!"
"What?"
"I said you're not a cop!"
"I'm a cop, I can tell at a glance if you're a cop or not!" The girl's complexion changed. She didn't expect the other party to realize her identity so quickly, but she still said stubbornly, "It's just that I've only been on the job for a short time, but I got the top grade on all the police school exams, look!"
Rick slowly reached out a hand and pressed the air in front of him, signaling the other party not to get nervous, then said, "Listen, I have no malicious intentions, otherwise it would already be two corpses right now."
This girl's expression of disbelief was unbelievable, and Rick said quietly, "Guillermo, Morgan, let's go."
The girl with the gun noticed two figures on either side of the door. Both men wore military uniforms and were equally fully armed.
If the other party wanted to attack her, they should have done it a long time ago. But she still wasn't at ease, so she didn't invite the three of them in, but instead looked at the uniforms of the two and asked, "Are you military?"
Rick shook his head and explained, "We are also survivors, we just found some weapons and equipment. The military uniform is suitable for going out, so we wear it."
The eyes of the girl holding the gun flickered, and she hesitated for a moment before looking at the woman next to her as if she couldn't make up her mind, and then she told them in a slightly threatening tone, "I have enough guns and ammo in my house to defend this place and kill you guys every day for the next twenty years! Be honest with me right now, understand?"
"Of course! We're just here to help!" Rick's tone of voice was very special, and the cadence control was just right, which made the girl involuntarily want to believe his words.
The girl finally put the gun away, walked into the room while nodding, pointed to the couch and said, "Sit down, let's talk!". Rick looked at the two people behind him, both showed strange expressions, but Rick shook his head slightly to indicate to them that there was nothing and then they took the lead into the room.
The house is not too big, but it is very cozy. The afternoon sun is dim, so a candle has already been lit in the living room. An old man is sitting on the couch in the living room with a book.
There were two other people, and Rick saw what they were reading when he arrived.
The old man was probably telling a story to the girl, after Rick and the others entered the room, he looked at the three of them and greeted them with a smile.
Rick nodded and then sat down on the couch with Morgan and Guillermo. The woman holding the gun hesitated at the three strangers, but said, "Can you put the guns on the table?"
