Chapter Thirty-Eight
I knew that Greyson would come with each attempt to expand the ward. What I didn’t know, is that he put a trigger on the ward so that if it was successfully tampered with, it would alert him to the exact location, and give him a boost in his traveling speed to get him here quickly; it also tells him who performed the spell. If I were to not seal my spell fast enough, the trigger would be a blowout to attack the person tampering with his ward with paralysis until he releases them. Stupid clever Hybrid.
I hold my breath when I hear him walk by me. Don’t breathe, don’t breathe. I cover my mouth when I hear his steps stop. I try to still my rapidly beating heart. Just please start walking. Slowly, his steps start retreating. I know he can tell my scent has recently been here, and I’m hoping my trail is still lingering enough that it disguises that I’m here.
