Chương 17: Awakening
Elena Threw Olen a manuscript.
"Get into the bathtub and read it while you are there. You have already wasted enough time. It's time to get serious." –Saying this, Elena pushed Olen inside the bathroom and locked the door from outside.
"Huh."
'What is wrong with his teacher?' -is what Olen thought.
She didn't explain anything. Just told him to get into the herbal bath she had prepared. And when he asked for an explanation, she just handed him the manuscript and left.
"The lady definitely has some problem in her head." –Olen muttered.
"Hey, I can hear you. Do you want me to get back in and beat you up?" –From behind the door, Elena shouted angrily.
"No, no, please don't come." –Fear hit Olen in his chest the moment he realized that Elena could hear him.
Olen got into the bath and soaked himself in a warm feeling.
It was the same type of bath that Elena used on her own, just a little milder.
Olen felt the warmth seeping into his muscles.
"Huh." -he could feel his exhaustion melt away. If he was left like this, he would surely sleep right away. He closed his eyes because of the comfort.
He takes this kind of warm bath often, but this was most definitely something special. He doesn't know what it is and doesn't care. That's not necessary.
"Feeling too comfortable, are we?" -at some point, Elena came in. And now she was looking at Olen.
But this time, Olen doesn't seem flustered or worried. He opens his eyes and calmly looks at her.
"Oh, miss you are here. Do you want to take a bath too." -Olen.
"No, it's just for you. It looks like you are fine now. So why are you slacking? Read the manuscript." -Elena.
"Oh, teacher, you looked so pretty when you were bathing that time. I have never seen anyone as pretty as you. So, please don't refuse. I'll do everything you say. Just the way you say it. So please come in." -Olen said, not being even the slightest bit ashamed.
This was the side effect of the bath. Though it is good for the spirit, It tends to make people muddle-headed. They get drunk by it.
But it also brings out the true thoughts of a person.
So, Elena knows what came out of Olen's mouth were his true feelings. And that made her feel embarrassed.
"So, I don't look pretty when I'm not bathing?" -Elena asked. She played with Olen with words. It's not like Elena could get angry at Olen. She knew people tend to do stupid things when they are drunk. And this time, it was she who made him this way. So, she can't complain.
"No, you look pretty all the time. It's just... that is a different kind of pretty. You know, when you bath you look super pretty and beautiful. When you fight, you look super pretty and valiant. And when you are teaching lessons to me, you look super pretty and frightening." -Olen.
Elena had a lot of mood changes when listening to Olen. First, she was embarrassed, then she became proud, and after that she got pissed.
"So, I look frightening, do I?" -Elena said with veins popping out.
"No, I didn't say that. I said you look super pretty all the time. It's just the feeling. But I don't get to see the super pretty and beautiful miss at all. That's what I asked." -Olen said.
'Huh, does the bath have this kind of effect too? He got the power of not making a woman angry even when he was asking this type of outrageous thing.' -Elena thought.
"Well, that's enough of that. Now read the manuscript, or I'll hit you." -Elena said, at the same time, hit him on the head.
"Ah, okay, but why did you hit me first?" -Olen complained.
But Elena didn't say anything back.
Getting no answer, Olen started to read.
Some random strokes hardly could be called a picture. Some random words which Olen didn't know the meaning of.
The picture sometimes made him look at it very closely. The related word with no meaning 'made' him think about them intently.
Some of them were just patterns. But when he looked at them, there was something really special. Olen, for some reason, started to feel a headache. But Elena in front of him told him not to stop reading no matter what.
The moment he uttered the last word, the surroundings seemed to go dark. The only feeling he had was a headache. It almost felt like his head was about to burst open. But when he opened his mouth, no sound came out.
No, that's not it. He had neither a mouth nor any hand and leg.
What happened to him? There is no one to answer him. But he could see a light source getting closer to him.
No, that's not true either. It has him moving closer to it.
The light source looked like a thick string. It started to become unwind.
He felt a closeness to it. But he had no idea of what it was.
Suddenly a sucking force came from behind again. Everything turned dark.
On the outside, Elena was looking at Olen. A few moments earlier, he was howling like a wounded beast.
Anyone seeing the scene would surely think of Elena as an evil witch and Olen as the prey that she was using to do some forbidden art.
But looking at Olen, the only thing she said was, "So noisy..." with an irritated look.
But she was prepared for it. She made the room as insulated as possible. She didn't want to cause unnecessary panic and trouble.
Now the howling stopped, she was looking at the unconscious Olen lying in the bathtub.
Suddenly, something hit her. It is already quite late, and she had sent the maid away before. How is she supposed to get him to his room? She didn't even know which one was in Olen's room.
It suddenly occurred to her that in these two months, she had really holed up in her room. The most she did was to go to the alchemy pavilion at the start of the month.
Other than that, she did nothing. She didn't even properly know the people living in this house.
She is indeed truly uninterested in this place, and she was also prioritizing her own recovery. But that doesn't justify her lack of knowledge.
The reason was plain and simple, she was too lazy to be bothered by these things just because she judged that the surroundings were safe enough.
She was just surprised that Bianca never told her anything about her behavior till now.
'I'll need to gather more information from tomorrow.' -She thought.
Then she again looked at the unconscious body and heaved a sigh.
She didn't have a choice. She pulled him out of the water, which had already lost its spiritual property. During the whole process, his body had taken the medical property.
There were two types of mixture she had used today. One is the 'nightfall herb' mixture, and the other is purely a mixture to satisfy the need of spiritual energy that Olen needed.
This is a combination that her family uses and is not widely known. They don't conflict with each other. And it is easier to absorb for little bodies.
Normally, people use pills as supplements. But for little ones, they are not as good to use.
The efficiency of this bath is twice as much as the pills. Though it is a bit costlier than pills, the efficiency is more than enough to make up for it.
In the first step of spiritual training, one needs to release and maximize their potential. Because it is almost impossible to increase later.
That is what she is doing right now. It is also the reason for the intense pain that Olen is feeling right now.
The scripture that Elena just handed to Olen was one of the highest grades she had.
It belonged to an ancient sect. She was sure that it would bring the best out of Olen.
She found it when she was exploring a hidden ruin. It was the belonging of a nameless senior. From the looks of it, she determined he was probably a high-ranking person in the sect.
The manuscript is the meditation law he practiced. It should be of the same grade as the one she is using.
She couldn't give out the family inherited law, which is also better suited for the bloodline she is using because of the restrictions.
But there is no restriction in giving out a copy of the meditation law she found while exploring. She was free to do anything she liked to do with it.
In a place like this, it should make Olen the strongest person. And if he wanted, he could build a kingdom with just the strength he would possess.
At least he wouldn't have to be restricted by anything.
This is Elena's way of paying back to the kid who tried his best with the little he could do to help her.
Though it wasn't much help to her, it's not like this much cost her any gold.
But it sure helped Olen a lot. Enough to change his whole life.
That's just how things are. Not everything is equally precious to everyone.
But this is not the philosophy Elena has in mind right now.
The problem at hand is what to do with this drunken, sleeping body that is sleeping in her bathtub.
Seeing no other options, she could only pull the body out and wipe it down with a towel.
This is a bigger hassle than it sounds.
Olen was continuously clinging to her in his sleep. Elena had to clothe him and carry him to the second floor before putting him in bed.
"Uff, So clingy..." Elena muttered. Olen was holding her tightly and wouldn't let go. So, Elena had to get him off bit by bit.
"Kid, with this, the debt I owed you is paid." -Elena said to the sleeping Olen. Then she closed the door.
She was really tired. In the first place, she didn't really like kids that much. They are noisy and dumb.
She tried to stay clear of them. But here, she had to deal with these kids all day long.
Though she didn't dislike it much, as Chlera and Petra are both cute, it is still out of her nature.
It is tiresome. She fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
