The atmosphere was awkward that night at the dining. There was no one at home but Salma and Majelisa.
Normally, when they eat, the queen was always with them, and Majelisa would remain mute until she finishes her food and leaves her mother and Salma alone to continue chatting.
Today, there was no queen, and Majelisa was smiling, and talking. She was also sitting on the chair beside Salma.
Salma felt very uncomfortable, but she forced herself not to show it, reminding herself that people change their ways and maybe Majelisa had really changed.
But a part of her was fighting that thought. It was hard to just accept because the same Majelisa was the one who fueled the hate others had for her.
From the day the queen adopted Salma and brought her to live in blue lake, Majelisa had been bitter. She had accused the queen severally of loving and paying attention to Salma more than her own daughter, but Salma knew that was not the case.
