Chương 26: Roommates 2
Mei-Ling decided to settle into her room and help Jia-Xue and Jia-Hui clean up their rooms that evening. Apparently, there are four rooms, the three girls have each and so does Miss Ru.
She told them that they would eat with the other students and they'll bath with other girls.
"I don't like bathing with other people." Xu complained while arranging her clothes.
"That's because you have germophobia." Hi snorted.
"That's not bad." Mei-Mei dusted the shelves. "Miss Ru is going to bring our dinner soon."
"Yay." Hi jumped. "I'm so hungry."
Mei-Ling took note of the twin's characters. Hi was an extrovert, an outgoing, talkative, action-oriented, spontaneous, energetic, and optimistic six year old.
Xu was quiet, mellow, unsociable and withdrawn. Mei-Mei needed more time to figure out such a complex person. She loved neat and tidy places and hated noise.
Hi, on the other hand, was an open book and wore her heart on her sleeves. While cleaning Mei-Mei's room, Hi pulled out her lute from under her drawer.
"You play the Chinese table harp?" She asked excitedly.
"I do." Mei-Mei collected it form her.
"Wait here." The twins ran out of the room and quickly came back. Hi was holding a pipa while Zu was with a dizi flute.
"We'll play together." Hi said.
"What song do we play?" Zu asked.
"Just play along."
Mei-Mei began skillfully plucking the strings of the lute. The room was filled with melodious sound of the instruments. Once they finished, Mei-Mei applauded.
"That was amazing." Hi and Zu celebrated. "We played well."
"I'm pleased that we created such harmonious sound."
Mei-Mei pushed her lute under the drawer and rearranged her mat. Soon after, their dinner was brought by Miss Ru, who immediately retiremed to bed.
"This tastes great." Hi took a bit out of her pork buns.
"It does." Mei-Mei slurped her noodles and drank the soup. "I'll be going to sleep now." She brushed her teeth, washed her dishes and went to her room.
'Mom, dad, big brother, I hope you are doing well.' This was the first time she had ever thought of the people in her previous live.
