Helena sat in the passenger's seat of Mark's car, wearing a red night dress and pair of dainty earrings. By her side, Mark was wearing a suit, focusing on the road as Helena smiled at him.
"I can't believe you got us dinner reservations on such short notice." She let out. They weren't sure they'd get off of work in time for dinner, so they hadn't booked anything previously.
"I have my ways." He smiled back. "You look beautiful tonight, Lee."
"Well, thank you. You look great too, honey." Helena complimented, her head turning and her brows furrowing as she saw an ambulance pass them in the direction of the hospital. "Did you see that? Think they'll need us?"
"It's just an ambulance, babe. I'm sure they can spare us for a couple hours." He reassured her, putting a hand on her thigh.
"Right." She agreed. However, a few seconds after, they saw three more ambulances going the same way. "Oh, that's gotta be big. They'll page us if they need us, right?"
"Right. I'm sure it's fine, don't worry about it." Mark told her. A couple seconds of silence followed, right before both their pagers went off.
"It's a big trauma." Helena said, reading hers.
"So much for Valentine's Day dinner, I guess." He sighed, turning the car as they follows the ambulances to the hospital.
——
As soon as they got to the hospital, Helena and Mark saw Callie in the hallway, joining them as they walked to their lounges.
"Callie!" The brunette called out. "Callie, you put together bones, you can also put together furniture, right?"
"Furniture like cribs, for example?" Mark asked, each of them walking on one side of Callie.
"You bought a crib?" She asked, surprised.
"Lena went baby crazy and bought a crib, a changing station, toys and a few other things I have yet to realize the use of. Not that I'm complaining." Mark joked, Helena shooting him a look.
"He's still horrified by the breast pump." She explained, Callie letting out a giggle.
"The thing is a torture instrument! But Sloan is coming home tonight and we tried to put the crib together but it wobbles. And it wobble!" He told her, his voice serious. "Will you take a look at it?"
"You're like a sweet, nerdy dad now. I don't even recognize you." Callie joked, Helena nodding along. "Lena's always been a mom, but I wasn't expecting that."
"Oh, this is me." Helena let out once they reached the resident's lounge. "See you in the pit."
"Love the dress, by the way, Lena." Callie called out, the short girl smiling at her as she took of her heels.
——
Callie walked to the nurses station in the lobby, a smile growing on her face as she saw Sloan.
"Sloan? When did you get here? Do Mark and Helena know you're here?"
At that, the blond looked up at her with a guilty expression, quickly coming up with an explanation. "No, my flight got in a little bit early and I just took a cab over. Didn't want to bug them or anything... somebody said you guys have a free clinic? Do you know where that is?"
"Is everything ok?" Callie asked, her brows furrowing.
"Oh, yeah. I just wanted someone to check me out after the surgery and everything. Maybe give me an ultrasound or something?" She asked.
"Yeah, the clinic closed an hour ago." The ortho attending told her. However, at the teen's discouraged face, she suggested. "Come on, I have a second. I'll take a peek for you."
——
"Awww." Callie smiled at Sloan's ultrasound. "The baby looks perfect."
Sloan gave her a smile back, letting out. "Awesome! Can I, like, get that in writing?"
At that, Callie smiled as she printed a picture. "Even better. Here is a souvenir!"
"Oh." The teen let out, taking the picture in her hands. "Don't you have some sort of... official form or hospital document you can give me?"
"Why do you need an official from?" Callie asked, her face falling.
"It's none of your business." Sloan shot back, sitting up as she wiped the gel from her belly.
"If you want an official form it is. Sloan, what's going on?"
"It's for the adoption at attorney, ok?" The teen explained. "They need a clean bill of health from me or something. There's this great couple in San Francisco and they have two big dogs and-"
"An adoption attorney?" The doctor asked, furrowing her brows.
"Yeah. I mean, I'm not ready to be a mom." The blond shook her head. "I'm just... I'm just not ready yet."
"Have you told Mark and Lena?" The brunette questioned, a mix of anger and worry on her face.
"No. And you're my doctor, right? Don't you guys have some sort of rule that says you can't say anything?" Sloan scoffed. "I'm not gonna tell them, and neither are you."
——
Helena and Mark walked into the lobby, both talking excitedly about possible nursery decorations, when they saw Sloan talking to Callie. At that, they approached her, confusion plastered across both of their faces.
"Sloan! When did you get here?" Mark asked, Helena by his side. "We thought you'd call first."
"Yeah, we could have picked you up from the airport." The short girl nodded.
"Look!" The blond told them, giving them a picture of her ultrasound. At that, Helena and Mark both smiled brightly.
"Oh my God, will you look at that! That's the Sloan nose." Mark told them, putting the picture by his face. "Can you see it?"
