Chương 35: 3.08

As the female interns sat at a nurses station, they watched Thatcher Grey, Meredith's father, who was in the hospital to visit his new granddaughter.

"How am I related to that man?" Meredith asked.

"What do you mean?" Cristina looked at her.

Just then, he spilled some coffee on the ground. "Look at him, his a mess."

"Yeah..." Izzie agreed.

"He's a disaster. He's a stammering, mumbling, clumsy disaster with whom I have nothing in common. Not one thing." The other three girls shared a look.

Helena let out a short giggle. "So, Mer, you know that nervous mumbling thing you do?"

"What?" She asked, he voice high pitched.

"You do your own share of stammering yourself." Cristina agreed.

"Yes, it's actually a lot like him." Izzie backed them up.

"No it's not." She denied.

"Plus that messy thing." Helena said, nodding.

"Cristina is the messy one!"

"No, my apartment is messy, my locker is messy but am not messy. Sometimes you have like food and stuff in your hair." The Asian woman refuted.

"And bandaids on your face." Izzie added.

"Oh, I can still kind of see that indentation from the nose strip you were wearing last night." The short girl pointed out, staring at her friend's nose.

"You..." The blond turned to Cristina, covering her nose. "Are in a relationship with no words. And you..." She looked at Izzie. "You are a millionaire in twenty dollar shoes. And, you, Lena, you..." Helena raised a brow, as of daring the woman to continue. "You... oh, you've always got your life together, whatever, you get the point."

Helena smiled sweetly at her as the girl stormed out, giggling to herself.

As Helena walked to the nurses station, she found Mark already there. "Morning, Dr. Sloan."

"Morning, Lee." He replied dryly. The lack of the usual smirk or playful teasing, however, bothered Helena, who furrowed her brows.

"Are you ok?" She asked, looking over at the man.

"Yeah, I'm... fine." He grabbed his charts and left, leaving a worried Helena behind.

However, as she saw Callie walking by her, she joined the resident. "Morning, Cal." She smiled.

"George kissed me. His dad's urine was good and he kissed me. He kissed me, holding a urine bag, he kissed me." The woman told her, holding a coffee.

"Mark's weird. He's... not being flirty and slightly inappropriate, he's being... weird." She exhaled as the doctors approached the cafeteria and sat down next to Addison.

"George kissed Callie." The intern told the attending.

"Yeah, one minute he's holding a urine bag, the next he's kissing me." The resident stirred her coffee. "Think he's freaking out about his dad?"

"I don't know, maybe don't get your hopes up?" The short girl suggested.

"You're right, he's probably just freaking out, I shouldn't hold him to it."

"What?" Addison asked, finally looking up from her computer.

"Did you not just hear a word I said? I'm pouring my heart out here. Jeez, it's all about you isn't it, it's all about Addison." The taller woman said, jokingly.

However, Helena noticed how weird the redhead seemed. "You ok there, Addy?"

"I aborted Mark's baby." She spat out.

"It all about you. Floor's all yours." Callie told her, Helena nodding.

"About eight months ago I... peed on a stick. And I wasn't even gonna tell him but then I did... tell him. And, huh, he went out and he bought this insane Yankees onesie and a calendar and marked the due date. Which, I should mention, was today." The redhead told them.

"You didn't want a baby?" Callie asked.

"I wanted Derek. I wanted to have a baby with . I never thought I'd end up alone."

"Hey! You haven't ended up anywhere." Helena reassured her.

"You're right, I know, it's just that..." Tears filled her eyes. "Sometimes it feels that way, you know. This is one of these weeks, it feels that way." Helena patted her shoulder as the woman cried.

"For what it's worth, it was your choice. No matter if Mark disagreed and no matter how hard it might have been for him, it was choice. And there's no shame in having made it, ok?" The short girl told her.

After calming down a bit, the attending turned to her. "How do you always have the best advice? I mean, you're 21, you're practically a fetus, I should be the one advising you." The redhead chuckled.

"Well, sometimes it feels as though I have lived longer than that. And, for what it's worth, you're not alone. I have..." The girl cleared her throat, lowering her voice. "I have had to make the same decision as you in the past and... well, I know it's everything but easy."

Callie looked at the girl, a bit surprised. "Did you not want kids, Lena?"

"Yeah. I really do. But I..." She flashed them a tight lipped smile. "Let's put it this way, it wasn't consensual, so I couldn't do it. I mean, I was nineteen, I was practically a kid, and to carry a fruit of my trauma..." The intern shook her head, almost forcing herself to snap out of her current sadness. "Anyway, what I mean is that I get it and I'm here for you, ok?"

——

Later, Helena charted in nurses station as George approached the Chief and Bailey.
